  1. Yes I was clear liquids for 3 days and then full liquids I think for another week....
  2. Hey kids - just wondering, if you already had surgery, what pain meds did your dr give you to go home with? Mine gave me Tylenol with codeine, which really sucks and really doesn't help at all. I was expecting something alot stronger. Just curious what you all have.

    Finallly Banded on 8/10/09

Hi everyone - I was banded on the 10th too and I hate to join the consensus, but I thought it would be easier also! Its bearable. I had alot of pain yesterday, thank God I stayed overnight in the hospital. I don't know how you girls did it that came home the same day, you are WARRIORS! I'm sure of course it will get better, but today, lots of gas and yes that port site hurts like hell whenever I move. I was disappointed my dr only sent me home with Tylenol with codeine. I thought I needed something stronger, since they had me on a morphine pump in the hospital! We will all be feeling much more ourselves in a couple days, from what I hear.
  4. Here we are Aug 10th people! Just wanted to wish you all well and pray that we all do well and come out healthier than ever! I'm feeling a very surreal feeling right now, can't believe this is actually going to happen. Clear liquids today. I"m so nervous at this point, I don't even care about eating! Love to all of you, check back in soon....
  5. Hey girls - i too have not been so great with the pre-op diet, glad to know I'm not alone. I had a 7 day liquid, I was good the first 2 days then I ate one meal days 3, 4, 5 and today so far so good...tomorrow I have to do clear liquids, day before surgery. Hope I didn't mess anything up. Very disappointed in my lack of self control
  6. Hi girls, I feel your nervousness. I had my pre-op appt yesterday also and it was kind of a WAKE UP YOU"RE HAVING SURGERY! THIS IS REAL!!! moment. We had something called "boot camp" yesterday where a bunch of people came in and talked to all the patients having surgery next week. The other ladies I talked to seemed to also be feeling somewhat freaked out. I think its because we CHOSE this and could back out if we wanted to. BUT, we know deep down its the right thing for our health. Uggghhh. In a few months, we will know it was all worth it!
  7. Hey girls! I'm with ya on Monday. Gotta say, I'm NERVOUS!!! But ready to get this done. How are you girls doing? I'm scheduled for 9am Monday.:wink2:
  8. Hi everyone - Just don't know where to turn this morning, so I'm turning here, I know some of you will understand. Today is the first day of my liquid diet, its not even 10am, and I'm having major difficulties mentally. I'm actually thinking, well maybe I'll just start it tomorrow, so I can go to my favorite Mexican place for lunch with my friend. Supposed to do it for 7 days and surgery is next Monday. I'm rationalizing all over, like well, my BMI is not so high, maybe I can not do liquid diet, or just for a few days. I'm so ashamed that I am actually trying to break the rules, and I've only been doing this a few hours. I'm scared at my weakness. OK, not sure what I'm asking, but HELP!

I am banded and home already!

Hi everyone - Congratulations Adelarosa on making through the first part of your journey successfully! Good to hear its not so bad and that you are fine! Hey, what is the single incision thing, I thought they need to make a few little incisions? I have a final appt with my doctor tomorrow, guess this is something I need to ask about!
  10. Morning everyone! Miss K, I think you need to stay away from these "funny" people for the week! I couldn't really be around my husband while he was eating last night. What kind of Protein shake are you having? I am using Jay Robb (recommended by a friend), not bad. I am putting it in the blender with some skim milk and ice and its really not bad. I"m sure they are all fairly similar, but the milk and ice help! I'm going to buy some flavor extracts today, like coconut and almond maybe, to pop in there. I must say, I feel alot better today mentally than I did yesterday. We are on day TWO, we can do this! :smile2:
  11. Abby! What were you running around naked??? How did your BOOB get stung??? HA ha! Onto day #2....HOpe your boob is better and our hunger pangs non-existent....:smile2:
  12. So funny, a broiled piece of cod sounds heavenly, haha! I can't have anything "solid". I did my calorie count yesterday, it was only like 480 I think, its difficult getting in calories with these food choices. I have a much better attitude today regarding the eating, guess I had to wrap my mind around the fact that I COULDN"T EAT! HOpe you have a great day, NUMBER TWO.

  13. WOW you are all the best, nicest and supportive group of people! I think your words really got me through the day, seriously. After lunch I started to get myself together (skipped the mexican place!) Now I'm feeling ok. I will survive! Tripletmamma, you just put me in my place, 3 weeks? WOW. How do you feel after all this time of not eating? Good/lighter/weak/strong? Bet you've dropped some pounds already! You are right, I was battling that "come on, whats one more day of food, it won't make a difference" and it prob wouldn't have, but to start off cheating just felt so wrong....Thanks again ladies, i hope I can be of some support in the coming days!:smile2: Lisa
  14. Hey Abby!

Actually after lunch time it got a little easier. When I got home I had a low fat cream soup, it was heavenly (who knew?) ha ha. I think I'm gonna make it :)

How about you, how are you feeling?

DOn't know what tomorrow will bring, but its nice to know I can survive a whole day on liquids.

    What was your DINNER tonight?

  15. I talked to alot of people who went through this, and one that was really recommended was Jay Robb whey protein. Its a little pricey, $22 for 12 scoops! Had one this morning, mixed it with skim milk and ice in the blender, was not bad at all. I can't wait to have my low fat cream soup tonight, so exciting! I'm so tempted to get the Walmart Body Fortress protein, comes in a big tub and its like $18, so cheap. Guess I'm skeptical since its so cheap, have you heard any feedback on it? You sound very strong and positive, thanks for chatting, it really helps! So your date is the 12th?

  16. Thank you all so much for the words of encouragement, it means the world at a time like this! Did I have last suppers, yup! So ridiculous, I didn't want to go to bed last night because I knew when I woke up it would be a world without my FOOD! I was up eating Milanos and milk at midnight (wouldn't tell anyone else that!) Abbypoo, how are you feeling? What does your diet consist of? Again, thanks so much ladies. Sometimes a few words can make all the difference

    Pre-op Diet?

Hi everyone! I start my pre-op diet tomorrow, one week of liquids. Surgery is on the 10th. I can have protein shakes (good friend said her favorite was Jay Robb), I really want to try to the Walmart Body Fortress but I heard they were bad, anyone else like them? I can have sugar free jello, SF ice pops, low fat cream soup, farina or cream of wheat...broth...I think this week long diet is stressing me out more than the actual surgery! Hopefully it won't be as bad as I think. Of course tonight I am having a big pasta dinner as a farewell. Pasta has been my "friend" my whole life, we might have to part ways for the most part....Hope you all are doing well - strong women!
  19. Yes I am in NJ. How long do you have to do the pre-op diet? Is it all liquid? Just starting to buy my protein shakes and stuff, that was a whole ordeal in itself, deciding what protein to buy. I think I read too much and obsess too much!

    Freaking out!

Hi Princess, you sound alot like me! I have two little ones, 7 and 3, and I feel so guilty all the time because I just can't keep up with them and go outside and play like I should, and they suffer for it. They need a healthy, happy mommy. I guess I just feel bad that I wasn't able to take the initiative and do it on my own. BUT!!! THis is a positive thing for us, and yes we are worth it...Great idea to get so organized, I will have to get busy and do the same. I have been trying to load up on protein shake stuff and other "liquids" for before and after the surgery. I think its ok for us to want to look good while living our life! Its a big bonus, but the health issues are what scared me into this. High blood pressure and high sugar:bored:
  21. Hey Abby! Yes, am getting really scared, I must say. Trying to be positive...Not quite sure what I am scared of, I think the lifestyle change...Are you excited/nervous/ready to go??? I start my pre-op liquid diet on Monday. Of course this weekend I will be living it up! Where do you live, where is your surgery? I am having mine in Atlantic City, NJ.

  22. Hi girls! I am being banded Aug 10, it would be great to have friends to compare notes and get advice from eachother! Lets keep in touch. What is your date Abby?

    Freaking out!

Hi girls - I too, am freaking out. Surgery is the 10th. I start my liquid diet on Monday (1 week only!) Like others have said, I know it is the right thing for my health and well being, its just SCARY....the whole lifestyle change. Overwhelming to me. I know some people are excited, and I wish I could be!

    Better Late Than Never.

Hi! Former girl - That must be very mentally difficult to do your pre-op diet still waiting for approval! I am dreading starting mine but I see you all are doing it, so I can too...I will keep my fingers crossed for you on the approval, I bet you will hear back today. Keep bugging them, thats always my motto! Let us know.

    Aug 10th is surgery!

Hi Allison, I go in next Thurs for what they call Boot Camp (where they tell you all you need to know about what to expect, etc) and also for my pre op bloodwork. What is your surgery date Allison? I guess the cold feet is probably normal...??? Ha ha! We will be much better off I'm sure, it just sometimes seems so drastic, but being so overweight is also drastic and dangerous, does it sound like I'm talking myself into this? LOL. From what I've heard the pre op diet gets easier after a few days, hang in there girlfriend!
