Thanks for you quick response.It has only been a week.I am not sure what to order when in a restaraunt due to the fear of running to the bathroom.I guess I will see if I can little by little expand my choices.

I just had my second fill and have no trouble eating a little ceral in morning,but come lunch and dinner it seems chicken or veggies or meat make me feel like I am golng to get sick.I end up having a milk shake because it goes down easy and I am full.I know I am having trouble eating better food choices but then I think I have to eat something.My calorie intake is still low due to the small portions.Does anyone else eat the "sliders" because you have to eat something.:thumbup:

I was banded on July21. I feel pretty good but I am stillsore when I sit up from laying down.My bra seems to rub on the skin right above it which is very tender.When I get a fill will this start all over again? I feel like I don't want to do anything to aggravate it so I have been laying low for a while.I just need to know how long befor the tenderness goes away?

Thank you for asking your doctor for us.I am glad he cleared up the stretching of the pouch.I will let you know when I feel up to trying one.

Hi,I'm in Monmouth County (Manasquan).I was banded on July21 in Somerset Hospital by Dr.Mehta. I only have lost 5 lbs.I am looking forward to my first fill on 8-30.My port is still sore but from what I have read that normal.

This is a problem for me as well.Most of my friends drink beer .I have not tried any yet but I was hoping I could get by with having one once in awhile.I usually have it on ice so it is watered down,and maybe allowing for that carbonation to decrease. I know I have an occasion comming up soon,I hope I make the right choice and stay clear of beer!!

I am going through the same thing! I was banded yesterdayand only told my children and two friends.In the mean time I have been in bed and when people stopped by I just said I had a small procedure.Well now my one friend thinks I have cancer an am not telling!!Its not that I wont eventuatly tell,I just wanted to do this for me ,and did not want to hear what everyone had to say.Like ,"is insurance paying for it?" I am self pay and I made this life changing decision.I can't wait to look great and then I will tell.

I am being banded in the morning.I am not scheduled to stay overnight barring complications.I am nervous about the pain,but mostly I just want to have the feeling of being full.How soon will I feel this after surgery?How long does the average person keep feeling this way?Thanks for all the support on this forum.12 hours till my new life!:smile:

I had my surgery yesterday as well.I am sore.I am hungry.I can't get into a good position to sleep,But I am soooo excited for my new life.Thanks to everyones support!

Well I guess I can answer my own question.I AM HUNGRY!! I was banded yesteday.I also was starving going in.I felt sick all night but did not throw up.I was very concerened about sitting up,moving from side to side.I keep feeling like I am going to pull out my port.I am walking like an old lady,but hoping a day of rest will make the difference.I am looking forward to babyfood!!!

WOW!!!!! You should be so proud of yourself!!

I am self pay all the way .When all is said and done 17,000.00.(fills are approx300.00).I wish my insurance paid.I feel guilty spending all this money on myself!!!! I just hope it is worth it!:smile:

I am being banded onTues.I am nervous but excited.I am from Jersey as well.I am going to Dr.Mehta.I was glad to read your recovery was smooth.I am a caretaker for my husband and can't be out of commision for too long.How was your experence?What can you eat now?

You have written everything I have been thinking!! I will be banded on Tues.I wish I could hide for 6 weeks so I am not put in a situation where I could cheat.I did not want to tell anyone and my cousins are making a long awaited visit to see my husband who is very ill.They are comming friday thats 3 days in.They want to take me to dinner.Now I have to start comming up with white lies!! I hope i am not in pain.I am Nervous!!:smile:

Hi jersey girl,by any chance did you go to Dr.Mehta? I am being banded next Tuesday.Were you in much pain? how long did you stay in hospital? Are you glad you did it?? I am a Jersey girl as well!

I also am paying or should I say charging my new life! I feel guilty doing this in such difficult times but I figure its now or never.The money I will save from not going out to lunch and dinner will be worth it!! (I hope)

I am getting banded on July 21.My surgery was switched from the 20th.I don't undestand why some people start with a liquid diet first and some don.t.Some start mushies week two others have to wait much longer.Why the difference in doctors orders.Does it make a difference in the amount of weight you need to lose? I am nervous but excited.

I also am a little worried about this.I am very social so while trying to keep this surgery a secret I am wondering when I can have a drink .I have a function to attend 2 weeks after being banded.I think it will be easier to blend in without eating then not having a cocktail.I usually drink a beer.Is this better or worse?

I have just paid a lot of money so I better be sure! My insurance did not cover anything.I would of had it sooner if it did.I really don't want to be heavy and in debt.July 20 is the big day.I can't wait to be one of those people that have no complications and wish they did it sooner.I keep thinking about 2months from now and I can report back with my weight loss.

I am having surgery on July 20.I have only told 3 people.I don't want to hear advise from my friends,none of which struggle with weight.I have to go to a family function on Aug7.I am nervous about what to say why I am not eating or drinking.Any ideas???
