    Carbonation?

Most doctors do not allow carbonated drinks as the gas and airbubbles can enlarge the pouch and possible errode the band, same with acidy juices. Believe me, you can live without soda etc.

How has God blessed you lately??

If people would just know what they would have if they had Jesus, what a wonderful difference it would make in their lives. The sad part is even Christians don't understand what they have when they have Jesus in their lives. I am so blessed that I can't even comprehend all of it. I have a home in heaven when it is time for me to leave this earthly life, I have heaven on earth as long as I stay in the word and not live or do as the world does. I got to tell you that I am not perfect so I have to ask the Holy Spirit to guide me all the time and correct me when I do things that aren't pleaseing to my Father. I have a loving, wonderful husband, a wonderful family that I can count on, a good job and more important a good boss, I am seldom stressed (but it's my fault when I am). I have all my needs and wants met, it is just so much that truly it is hard to comprehend even the things that you don't think about such as creature comforts: heat to warm me in the winter, air conditioning on hot days, a roof over my head, cars to drive-money to get gas to make them run, food in the fridge and freezer. I am able to bless other people with things they lack. I am able to share Jesus with people who don't know him. I have a Christian family being my church, my family, my friends. It's just so much.
  4. tzn, I just read your message from July 28th. I am not too good with computers and didn't even know you could do this until I just got a private message today. To keep you updated I have now lost 125 lbs and am at goal. I had to be rebanded on Oct.29th due to a slippage. No problems with that but I have to start over with the liquids, pureed foods etc just like I have never been banded. I get the "1st" fill in another 3 to 4 weeks. Other than the post op diet, I can't tell any differences except I can get hungry which is kind of a new thing for me but it hasn't been hard. Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner.

  5. Thanks, I didn't know you can post vistor's messages. Just run into it because I had a private message. I'm not too good with computers. I had a message all the way back in July that I just found out I had. It was good talking to you.

    Does it worth it?

would I do it again, yes, I did it again because my band slipped. I have lost 127 lbs and this is the only time I can say that I have been able to maintain my weight loss. Surgery for me both times have been easy. No pain at all.
  7. I was rebanded last Thursday due to a slip. We think the slip occured in January when I got really sick and thru up big time. I didn't have the usual symptons that people get when their band slips, just burping more than normal. I am a couple pounds past goal (orginal surgery was Aug. 2007). I am very thankful that I could be rebanded. Am looking forward to plastic surgery on tummy in Jan. The surgeon said the rebanding shouldn't interfere with the plastic surgery. I will say this, when you get rebanded you start like you've never been banded. I am on liquids for 3 weeks (usually two weeks is norm) but they want to be extra careful with me. Things happen sometimes and you just got to do what is best for you. In this case the rebanding was the best thing for me.

    LapBand Warranty???

I slipped and I'm having it reparied tomorrow. It's been 27 months since orginal surgery. My insurance company is paying for the surgery tomorrow. My band was stiched to my stomach but sometimes things just happen. Wasn't my fault wasn't the bands fault.....

    Diarrhea and stomache ache

I am wondering if it could be the sugar free items you are eating (to the 2nd person on post). They have sorbital and that can sometimes cause that problem if eaten in quanity thruout the day.

Things I can do since my lap band...

Nazzy, if you want someone to comment on your weight loss...buy a new outfit that fits and you will get several comments. Alot of us when we lose weight continue to our old clothes which are now ill fitting. We should make it a practice to buy atleast one outfit each time we go down a size.
  11. Whoever considers any weight loss surgery should do their homework, research it out. If you come to the conclusion that it is in fact the best decision for you then go for it,. Other people's opinons don't matter and if they do then you aren't ready for the surgery. It is madness to be on diets all your life only to lose and regain over and over again and continue to do that and expect different results. The lap band broke that cycle for me, 2 years banded and 118 lbs lighter.
  12. I guess it is just me but I didn't worry about anyone else. And yes, I told everyone that I was having it done. It 2 years later and I am 118 lbs lighter. Get many compliments from people who knew me when I was heavier and 3 have had the sugery because they see what it has done for me with one more going for a semiar this Thursday.

Things I can do since my lap band...

ok, I can sit in a booth and not overhang on the table. I don't have to worry if waiter takes me to a booth as there is a good 8 inches of space from my body to the table, I can cross my legs, I fit into an airplane seat with out an extension belt, I don't mind having my picture taken, I can find clothes to fit in regular stores, etc....and the very best is I won't be gaining the weight back!

    Is God real?

It's clear to me that people need to go to a Holy Spirit filled chruch where the Holy Spirit is welcomed and the word is taught not by a man but by the Holy Spirit thru annointed pastors, preachers, teachers, evangelists and the helps ministries.
  15. I'm a little over 2 years and have lost 115 lbs am aiming for 12 more lbs. I don't think the band will fail me and I sure as heck am not going to fail the band. One thing I do know is that you have to have a good bariatrics support team which I've got. I go once a week for a one on one and attended the monthly suport group meeting. I do know that not everyone has the support they need. If you are seriously thinking about having this surgery, go to a center that can give you the support like I have.
  16. I only had one fill under fluro, the rest were done in the surgeon's office done by feel. I've always had some restriction from each fill. There have been 2 times that the fill has reached the "sweet spot" and one of them is now. Believe me, you don't want to get too tight from a fill as you will be miserable. I don't like the term agressive fill because some people can't handle much and some people can handle more. A fill is an individual thing and your surgeon generally can tell how much you can tolerate by the swallow test (although the swallow test isn't always perfect). What I am trying to say is this, if it takes baby steps to get you to the sweet spot don't sweat it because you will get there. And if they hit the sweet spot right away that is great. Just don't rush things afterall you are in it for the long haul. By the way, I've been banded for 2 years and just a few pounds from goal, lost 113 lbs so far. My expierence with the band has been great. Hope your expierence will be great too.
  17. Your band hasn't slipped, If it did you wouldn't be able to keep anything down and would throwing up alot. You should see your surgeon for a fill, they do them between 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. You do not want to binge as you can strecth your pouch and this early in the game you don't want to do that or have your band slip. This early in the game though you most likely shouldn't be eating heavy foods as you have to give the band surgery site time to heal, that is why you should be on mushies right now. If you have a bariatrics team that you can easily call or go to regularly then you should do it. I know not everyone is as fortunate as me as I am 2 years out and see my coordinator every week for a one on one. The formula for the sucess of your band is this, band and you working with the band. Wishing you both a good journey.

    New? lost?

18 I wish I could have done this earlier in my life but am glad I did it anyway, I am 56. Have been banded for 2 years and am pleased at everything. Are there any support groups close to you? If so, you should start going. You will get information from people already banded and that should increase your knowledge about what it is like to be banded that is assuming the band is what you are interested in. My personal expierence has been great from surgery thru now. Wishing you the best in what ever you choose to do.

    Woo Hoo!!!!

Don't share with everyone if it isn't your nature. You can do this. I've lost 109 lbs, well, 107 as I thought I lost 4 lbs this weekend but only ended up being 2 lbs. I am almost at my goal weight.
  21. Hi, I really don't get full blown hungry but my body tells me that I should probably think about eating within the hour. If I truly crave something which is from time to time then I have it. I have been wanting a butterfingers candy bar-waited a week before I got it and I ate it. I don't know why a butterfingers as my favorite always was a snickers. In the evening, I usually have a sugar free cream pop, Kroger's brand. I agree with the person about the protein, takes longer for me to get hungry if I have protein. Although I've been cautioned about peanut butter, I eat about a tablespoon with 2 to 4 crackers in the morning, 8 am, and that will last me up to 2 pm if I go that route. I just make sure that it kinda melts in my mouth.
  22. Hi, Words of wisdom, be sure to get the suppositories not the pill. If you are sick the phenergen pill doesn't do much good. If any of my group starts vomiting then we are to call the baratrics coordinator-she gave us her cell phone #. I've got a wonderful baratrics team. I've only had to call once in 2 years which was in Jan. due to a bug I caught.

august bandsters, me too but will be 2 years ago on Aug 7th. Everything went well with me and I hope the same for you. I'm 11 lbs from my goal weight, lost 109 lbs (as of this morning).

    Scared and thirsty~

I never did drink them ever. I put the protein mix in pudding to mask the flavor. And even then I didn't like it but had to do something

    Honest Answers Needed on Restriction

You should see your bariatrics team immediately and often. You shouldn't be going thru that but then again your bariatrics coordinator doesn't know you are going thru this. It's very important that you eat healthy proteins, vegetables, etc because this is the lifestyle you signed up for when you got your band. And you don't want to throw up as this can cause your band to slip. Please, please see your bariatrics team. I can eat most anything but only small amounts. It's going on 2 years and I am almost at my goal weight. As of this morning I am down 109 lbs with 11 lbs to go. I love my band and want you to love yours to and be sucessful. Good luck.
