  2. Happy 45th Birthday Beachburd!

  3. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary Beachburd!

  4. I am 2 weeks post op today and my recovery was the same as you all describe. The gas was debilitating. I too thought I would be up and back to work in a week, it was more like 12 days. I still have some soreness at my port and band incsion sites and the burping continues but I feel so much better. Listen to your body, take the time you need to heal . Last week at this time I thought I had made a huge mistake but now I know I didn't. Congrats to you all and healthy recovery! Kim

    Hospital Stay?

Definately stay the first night! IV morophine will be your friend...you will generally feel crappy that first day/night so take advantage of the nursing help and meds available to you. I was on the fence about staying but in the end I am really glad I chose to stay! Good Luck!

Hey Cortney, I am 6 days out tonight and I just don't feel that great. I just don't know how much gas one person can possibly keep hanging on too! Its miserable, I didn't drink or eat as much today cuz I just feel like crap! I know without a doubt this was the right choice for me but its easy to lose site of that when you feel blah! I am doing all of the same things as you, heating pad, gas X, walking, pain meds. I am suppose to go back to work tomorrow night(night shift)-will have to play that by ear as the day progresses. I hope you are doing better and all of our fellow Sept 1 bandsters are in recovery mode! Thinking Thin......!! Kim

Hey Cortney and Tic! Do the two of you feel like you got hit by the same train as I did? My recovery has been harder than I anticipated...the gas, uhhhgg and inscional pain have really made this not fun. Luckily, I have not been hungry and if I am a popsicle cures me. How are you guys? Kim
  8. I was banded on Tuesday the 1st and have felt pretty crappy! The gas has been horrible and is still lingering but getting better. My band incision is very uncomfortable as well as my port site. I did go for an extended walk today, which I needed but it completely wiped me out and now am back in bed. I am on a full liquid diet and not really feeling hunger so luckily that isn't an issue. I know this worth it, without a doubt but gotta admit I am having a pity party tonight! Kim

I got my band on the 1st...3 days out and I have felt pretty miserable. I stayed the first night in the hospital and I am so glad I did! If you are on the fence about it, definitely stay for pain control! The night I got home my belly blew the hell up with gas(expected some but wow), I looked every bit of 9 months pregnant, it was painful to just look at! The pressure put a lot of tension on my incisions, especially my port site and that is where my pain remains today. I have had very little hunger because of all of the gas, that could be good or bad- not sure~ I am amazed by so many of the stories saying they were up and about and back to work in a few days, I certainly won't be moving in that directions for several more days! I hope in a couple more days that I will start to feel "normal". How are my other Sept 1 Bandsters feeling? Kim

Hey Gang! I am on the Setember train...the 1st! Its been a 4 1/2 month process and I am quite ready. My doc didnt put me on a pre-op diet, perse'...just told me to eat high protein, low carb so thats what I am doing... I worry about "fatty liver" but the doc didnt go on and on about so I will just go with low carbs...What do you all think? Kim

    Aetna PPO help!!

I have Aetna PPO as well. I called them prior to my first seminar to ask if they covered weight loss surgery and was told that it was a covered expense. I proceeded with their requirments which included a 2 year weight history which basically was just a documented weight from my primary physcian 2 years in a row-simple. I completed my 3 month requirments and was approved in the same week and have a surgery date of Sept 1, 4 months from my seminar date:) I hope this helps! Good Luck as you move forward! Kim
