Well actually I was a self-pay so I didn't have to jump through all the hoops with the insurance company. I went in for consultation on May 21st and was banded June 12th. I do know that if you go through the insurance company they usually require you to do a 6 month strict doctor's diet. Then they make you see a pschycologist. Since I have been banded I have lost 21 pounds and two weeks before I was on a liquid protein diet and lost 13 so I have lost a total of 34 pounds since May 28th. I feel fine, surgery went really well, I did it as an out patient; went in at 7:00 a.m. and was home by 11:00 a.m. The first six weeks after getting banded is kind of the hard part. I had to do 1 week of nothing but clear liquid then full liquids for 2 weeks and pureed foods for 2 weeks then you go to soft foods for 2 weeks and then you get to start slowly adding regular food. It really hasn't been hard, I'm never hungry. Anyways, if you want to know anything else just e-mail me. Nikki
