Ginger O sounds tasty! No way I'm trying the other one. Made myself very sick very many times with whiskey. Never again :w00t:...can't even stand the smell. Don't even look at bottles in the store. So, KC, Ginger O and watermelon mojitos are clear liquids right? I'll have a couple right after my surgery! TPG

KC, thanks for the mojito recipe. Sounds yummy. And sounds clear-liquidy for my clears phase. Right? Lulu, like the new avatar and glad you're back. As for my upcoming surgery, I'm not really too freaked out or focused on food. I've decided to do a 5 day pre-op instead of my doc's 3 day. I'm worried about my liver. My problem now is that I'm in charge of most of the food for my dad's 80th party. I get to do all the sides, fruit for the choc fountain, breads, and a dip. My sis-in-law is doing...uh, she ordered a cake and bought paper products . My bro is doing the grilling. It'll be at their house which means I don't have to clean mine, but I think I got a raw deal. They do NOT know about the surgery and I have no plans to share. So, not eating will be tricky. I'll just stay busy "checking" on things and waiting on people. I'm sure it'll be fine. Unless I develop "lack of choc syndrome" and attack that fountain like a lion on a carcass. Hey, don't judge me! I'll eat plenty of fruit with it . To those of you going back to work tomorrow...sorry. It is nice to work at home. I have to get myself going on that soon too. I play all summer and then kill myself making jewelry and handbags for all my fall shows. I work best under pressure but I'd really rather just hang out in the pool until we get our first snow. Hope you all had a good weekend. Have a great Monday! TTFN, TPG
  5. I finally found one I like! I mixed sugar-free, instant peach tea powder with Crystal Light Sunrise Tangerine strawberry. It's pretty good. I am NOT a sweet tea drinker so I'm never too much into the flavored instant teas. I was thirsty today, had drunk all my Water and have given up Diet Coke . I'm getting ready for my pre-op diet so I'm trying to find new things I like. So, here's my recipe for the day. And, the CLSunrise has 100% of your daily Vitamin C if you drink an 8 oz. serving. Guess you'd need 2 glasses with this since it's half tea. Happy Banding, TPG

Fanny, I was just looking at the pics on your blog. Can I come live with you?? I have always wanted to see Australia. My nephew and his wife had their honeymoon there and they have some wonderful memories and great pictures. Your pics made me want to call the travel agency. I liked your blog but noticed that you spell colours wrong. Guess you learned that from Liz, huh? She should keep a dictionary in her ugly purse . Your weekend treats sound yummy. Chocolate is a good thing!!! And popcorn, and candy, and cake...sorry, I'm getting ready for my pre-op diet and am a bit obsessed with food right now . Must be my dinnertime or something. TTFN, TPG

Hello all. It's pouring here so no pool today. Hope you all are having good weekends. I need to grocery shop but with the rain....maybe tomorrow. Lulu, glad you're back and sorry to hear about the doggy. That is so hard to deal with . KC, pesto is good stuff. The watermelon mojitos also sounded very, very good . Recipe, please? Ebony, slim, anyone else doing house stuff: You have my admiration. There was a time I enjoyed doing all that housey stuff. Not any more! If I can't hire someone to do it, it just doesn't get done. Too much back pain for sanding and painting. PJTP: And the ballgame is rain-delayed . Again. TTFN, TPG

    Those that have been banded.....

I like to be informed so I tend to read many posts on here. Crap, I wish I hadn't found this one! OMG. I knew the commmando issue but the other stuff!?!? I'm all for a one-stop-shop deal: band, lipo, lifts, tucks, whatever needs liftin' and snippin' ...I mean, if I'm already there, the doc's there, why not? Just leave any leftover scraps in the trash please. This is a great thread for a laugh....And a rude awakening for anyone who's never had surgery :tt2:. Commando is the easy part! It's looking your surgeon in the eye afterward that'll be tricky. Just to even the playing field, I think I'll ask mine for a quick peep show before we head to the OR. Heck, he'll be in scrubs. Easy enough to pull down and let me have a look . It would only be fair, right ? If I get any photos, I'll be sure to share them, ladies. Good luck everyone! And thank you, God for good drugs!! TPG
  10. Yeah, I wondered about that too! Six weeks seems almost cruel . Hope that was maybe a typo. TPG
  11. Erin, I agree with the other posters. Stop being so hard on yourself. Take this time to heal and adjust to your new lifestyle. You're walking and that's great. Don't you think starting back to school is gonna help? You'll be busier and more active. You'll have less time to focus on food and worry whether or not you're losing weight. You're gonna do fine! Just relax. Read thru the success stories on here. Other people have been where you are now. They have been successful. You will be too! As for exercise, walking is good and sounds like your best option right now. Maybe you could find some kind of walking music geared for exercise and download it to your iPod. I think I read something about that on here. It might have been in the Couch to 5K thing but I'm not sure. Maybe ask in the Exercise Threads. If you find something with a good beat and maybe some encouragement, I think it'll help you walk longer. You're probably a bit bored. Change things up. But take it easy too! You're still recovering. Hang in there!! TPG
  12. Hi reader! I know what you mean about feeling like a failure and that banding is a crutch. It feels like admitting defeat. What changed my attitude on that was finding out that the medical community FINALLY sees obesity as a disease. It's not our fault! Sure, there are some bad choices we've made and we could have exercised more, etc. But much of the problem is genetic or based in other factors. Stop beating yourself up!! This is not giving in. This is moving on. You deserve a better, happier, thinner life. I hope you read more success stories on this forum. They really helped me get a handle on things. I wish you much luck!! TPG
  13. I think most people considering the band have a lot of those same thoughts and questions. I know I did and still do. I have read the positives and negatives...the happy stories and the horror stories. I'm feeling that I'm well-informed and ready to change my life. What I've been doing sure hasn't worked. I read posts from others who seem to have been in my situation. If they are successful, why wouldn't I be? I plan to follow the rules and make good choices. Sure, there will be problems. I'll deal with them. And there could be an issue out of my control. I'll deal with that too if I have to. I just know that I don't want to spend any more time beating myself up for eating the wrong things, for having a freaking treadmill that I rarely use. Bought it with great intentions. It's gathering dust right now. I don't want to have ten different wardrobes...fat jeans, not-so-fat jeans, etc. I hope that you find some inspiration on this forum. The people are great sources. They've BEEN there. They've had those same questions we're having. And they made the informed decision to change their lives forever. I hope and pray that I am also that strong, resolved, and successful. I hope you are too!! I wish you the best of luck on this journey whatever you decide. TPG

Heartfire, That totally sucks! You must be so disappointed. It's so maddening when people don't do what they say they're going to do. I would have also thought the time meant EDT and you'd be fine. I'm sorry you put so much work into this and had this happen. I'm not computer savvy so I don't have any good suggestions. I will toss a hex their way, however . I hope you're able to salvage something from all of this. I'll be around all weekend if you need to vent. You can PM me or catch me here. Meanwhile, here's a hug . Hang in there!! I really hope you can get this worked out. I also really hope whoever shut you down early gets a nasty case of body lice....snarky, yep, but it's deserved. Just getting started....

Hello and welcome! Sounds like you are well on your way. How nice to have an easy insurance company . I hope you enjoy LBT as much as I do. There are great people here and lots of information. Best of luck to you! TPG

    Sweets

Excellent post! I agree. If I want candy, I want candy. No Protein shake can taste that good (and I don't even hate the shakes). But they are no Snickers with almonds. The whole good food and bad food thing is partly how I end up here, fat and planning to get banded this month. I wanted to check this post to see if anyone had found some miracle sweet food that has no fat, no calories, no sugar and no guilt. Darn. Guess not. I also agree that sugar-free pudding or something can be enough to take the edge off. I'm really loving the no-sugar-added fudge pops. They aren't chocolate mousse but aren't too bad. I hope you find something to help with your craving! Good luck, TPG

Thanks again to all of you for your responses. I'm not afraid of the surgery or having complications. I'm not reading any more horror stories though. And I think I'm going to increase my pre-op diet to 5 days. I AM worried about the fatty liver issue. But my surgeon is aware of it and so far I've not had any bad news about my blood work. I hope you all have great weekends and do something fun or good for yourselves. Life's too short to not enjoy it!! TPG

Thanks to all of you for the encouraging answers to my freak-out. I feel that I am informed and have done as much research as I can. I'm comfortable with the whole band thing and I trust my surgeon. I'm just getting nervous. Think I'm gonna avoid the threads with disaster, never again, pus, or anything else icky in their titles . What will be, will be. I just plan on following the rules and doing the best that I can. For any of you who suggested that I talk with my surgeon, I have your names and will be coming for you :sneaky:. I'll be bringing margaritas and chips though. I also hope that Tap returns and that Lulu doesn't leave. This is a great thread and I'm so pleased that you all welcomed me in. Not that I gave you much choice with that clip art sledge hammer I carry...darn, I'm sensing another restraining order coming my way... PJTP: I'm really lucky. My surgeon only requires a 3 day pre-op diet. And, I actually like some of the protein shakes :sneaky: - not that vile Isopure clear fruity crap...OMG...nasty! I feel so sorry for anyone with a long pre-op. Actually, I feel more sorry for their families. I think one could get a bit snarky on just liquids. They might even eat chicken strips . Have a great weekend!! TPG

    Help with questions

LadyBug, Those are great questions and some of the same I had when I first "joined" this forum. If you peruse the different topics on the boards you'll find many answers. I have not yet been banded so I can't answer any of those questions for you but I can tell you there are many caring folks here who can and will. It sounds like you are ready for this based on your joining of WW and going to a seminar. I did lots and lots of research before I attended my first seminar. Actually, because I had read so much here, I had few questions at the seminar. There are many, many success stories on this forum and I'm sure you're going to get many responses. Good luck to you on your journey! Welcome to LBT!! TPG

Well, now I'm jealous. If you'll remember, pnkPotty told me that I was all dried up. Darn friction burns.

I have an actual lap question!! After I get a lap band, will I then have a lap on which to place my laptop? Right now, I just call it a notebook but it's suffering an identity crisis . My computer that is. I'll never tell what I call my lap.
