    surgery in Tijuana???????

I was banded in Tijuana on July 2nd. Dr. Ortiz at the Obesity Control Center did my procedure and everything there was top-notch. Great staff, facility, surgeon and team were great as well. Only thing is I had to find a Dr. here in DFW to do the follow-up and fill. I picked him based on my friend going there. I trusted her opinion and she seems to be thriving.

    More fill with Fluro?

I had my first fill on Friday afternoon. I had my surgery in Mexico, and had to find a local doc in the DFW area who will do my fills. Made lots of calls and did research and found Dr. Kim in Colleyville. His Nutritionist is a P.A. and does the fluro. I have the newest Realize Band that will hold 11cc. I was REALLY nervous going in. For some reason had visions of needles and having to watch the needle go in. Was totally different than I expected (better). He gave me a shot to numb my skin over my port, and I didn't even feel the needle stick. He put 5cc in the band, and did the fluro. Seemed a little tight so he took out .5cc and I'm scheduled back in 4 weeks for followup and second fill. I was a little surprised that the aftercare required liquids for a full week, my reading led me to believe it would be 3 days. I think I opted for fluro for the same reason I chose the Lapband vs. gastic bypass. I want to be in control and feel like I have some input in how this plays out for me.

    Wii ea-sports active game

Not a silly question. Here's my take. Wii Fit is pretty broad reaching with lots of games and things to do, and also pretty pricey. Wii Active is basically a fitness regimen that you can tailor to you. Bob Greene, Oprah's famous trainer is the source of the information, and then you pick a trainer who demonstrates the exercises and then coaches you through doing them correctly. At the end of your workout it tells you how many calories you burned and how that compares to the projected amount. (the harder you work the more you burn, and so far, I've surpassed the projected amount every time.) I think the Wii Fit has more choices, but for what I needed the Wii Active is perfect.

    Wii ea-sports active game

My boyfriend and daughter went in together and bought me a Wii and the Wii Active for my birthday on July 18. My surgery date was July 2, 2009 and the timing was perfect. All three of us are using it and having fun. I like the personal traininer aspect and the fact that it changes things up from day to day so one workout is never exactly the same as the day before. It also tells me exactly how many calories I burn so I give it a huge thumbs up!

    please help

I too was banded on the 2nd of July and as of this morning I am down 25.2 lbs from 230 to 204.8. I have been walking every day since day 1 and got a Wii for my birthday on Saturday and have been doing the Wii Active 30 Day Personal Fitness program. It's fun, and only takes 20-30 minutes a day. I weighed 330 at my heaviest and lost the first 100 lbs through diet and exercise, but it took over 4 years to get that off. I don't want to lose too fast, as my body will look flabby. My primary doc tells me slow and steady wins the race and the more consistently I exercise in moderate amounts, the better for my overall appearance.

    NSV's (NonScale Victories)

Bought a really cute pair of black, size 16 cargo pants on Monday. When I flew home from my business trip yesterday, I was wearing them with a cute little tank top, and ran into a guy I know who works at the airport and he commented that I was LOOKING Good!

List of things needed after your surgery

I'm 15 days post-op today and having fun keeping the mix in my liquids. V-8 has a couple of yummy varieties of Soups that I like. Roasted Red Pepper and also Tomato. They are a bit tastier and heartier than campbells. I do however have the cupboard in the kitchen at work stocked with the heat-in-the can campbells Soup version as well. sugar free popsicles/fudgesicles are good, liquid tylenol is my best friend. I have been taking the One-a-Day supplement that dissolves in Water and really liking some of the Vitamin Water formulas. One bottle of Vitamin Water has 50% of the B12 needed in a day. Metamucil also has a dissolvable formula that taken in the afternoon helps to curb my appetite. At day 8 I started drinking one of the DanActive immunity boosters every morning when I leave the house. Kind of strange at first. I bought both peach and strawberry so I would have variety. I still carry my pillow with me. I have a 60 minute commute to the office and fly to different cities a couple of times a week and have found it beneficial for comfort. My birthday is tomorrow, and I'm wishing I could have a piece of cake. :scared2:

    First day on Mushy

I was banded on the 2nd, so 9 days post-op and am actually trying to make the liquid thing as fun as possible. I went shopping and bought lots of different choices that would work including several different kinds of sugar free popsicles. I transitioned into the drinkable yogurt on day 7 and today had tomato soup (Glorious!) for lunch. I have been cooking off and on for my daughter and my boyfriend, and actually enjoyed the social aspect of that. I also went and talked to a pharmacist and he recommended a vitamin supplement that I can drink, as I'm trying to ward off an evil things like hair loss (Yikes!). I've been able to control the gas for the most part with GasX strips. I guess I'm not as young as I used to be because I'm not bouncing back like I did when I was younger and had my gallbladder out. So...does anyone have a list of any other possible ugly side effects other than hair loss?

    Recent "bandits"

I was banded on the 2nd of July by Dr. Ortiz as well. I bet I saw you in the waiting room on Friday when I went to get my teeth whitened! Well it might be TMI, but the whole constipation thing is reality so why not talk about it? Once I got over that "hump" it's been pretty smooth sailing. I've tried to diversify what I get to drink for the liquid portion. Juicy juice boxes pack well in my handbag, and yesterday started with DanActive liquid yogurt and that seems to be helping alot. I've had the fatigue (Not 20 anymore evidently) and some pain. I went back to work two days ago and made it 5 hours before I had to go home and lay down. Yesterday worked 6 hours and will take off mid afternoon today. My biggest work worry is that I actually travel for a living and have to fly to Tulsa on Monday. Packing light and asking for help will have to suffice for now.
