I think we all had THAT DAY. We had gone on a small weekend vacation with family and friends. I ate and drank just as much as the skinnier people there. But low and behold upon our return home I had gained 10 pounds in 3 days. So maybe I did eat a little more??? I just wanted to enjoy the vacation. All I know is that trip made up my mind. I had been thinking about the LapBand for a couple months but was scared and unsure. After that weekend I knew what needed to be done. I’m not like everyone else. I’m special and I need something special to help me with this problem. I was terrified when my surgery was right around the corner. I almost left the doctor’s office the morning of because I was so scared. I think that morning at the doc was the bravest I’ve ever been. I’m glad I stayed! I was banded on 7/17. I don’t regret anything so far. I’ve been steadily losing with the liquids and the mushies. I can’t wait for my first fill. It’s exciting. Don’t worry (I know that’s easy for me to say) but it WILL be ok! I would love to hear about how you’re doing in the months and years to come. Just remember the LapBand is a tool, we have to use it properly and it will work perfectly! Take care and I wish you ALL THE BEST! -D

I started mushies today and don't know what to eat. I tried a can of chicken today for lunch and it was GROSS!!!!! I think dinner will be cream of wheat. Darn… I’m out of ideas! HAHA! I actually posted a question to all about ideas on what to eat. I have a very small list of what I can eat and no mention of meat. Although I know red meat is not easy to digest so I was going to stay clear anyway. I know there has to be something more fulfilling out there. I will keep checking out your post to for ideas. THIS SOUNDS AMAZING BTW… After weeks of liquids, I've never heard of anything more yummy in my life (within the bandster-mush diet). Good luck in your search for more satisfying mushies! -D

Ok, I’m supposed to start the mushy faze of this adventure. I need mushy food idea’s because I’m not eating Gerber with my 9 month old. LOL What have you all enjoyed? What exactly is considered mushy anyway? Thanks!

I had my surgery the same day. I’m not sure what kind of pain you’re in, but I am still very sensitive in that area. Wearing a shirt is a little uncomfortable as the material rubs on my healing cut. It’s also hard for me to get comfortable in bed. It hurts a little to turn over or to get in bed in the first place. I don’t need to take anything for it though. It’s not that painful. If you’re in a lot of pain then I think you better call the doc. Otherwise I thinks its all normal and part of the healing process. Maybe a “wiser” bandster can be more informative… Good luck, hope you feel better, and most of all CONGRATS!!!

I mentioned how desperate I was right…. Well, yesterday I drank two cups of a laxative tea called Smooth Move (one in the morning and one on my way home from work). My husband, bless his soul, also went to the store and bought me a drink called Simply Apple (amazing what an apple can do!). Now I don’t know which one did it or if it was a combo of the two but things got moving! Now I am all better. I knew there would be some difficulty going since I wasn’t putting all that much in my system to begin with, especially the weekend after my surgery. I knew I was slightly dehydrated and that would slow things down. But the bloating and pressure was getting way too uncomfortable. 10 days is a VERY long time to go without having a BM. Now I can get back to my diet plan and hopefully stay moving. I’m thinking of adding some Activia yogurt to my daily diet plan to stop this from happening again. But a little fiber in my protein shake every morning sounds like a plan too and cheaper I’m sure. I can’t tell you all how much I love this place. Everyone is so wonderful and helpful. And yes, for sure we are all a family! I wish I would have found this site sooner… Thanks to all! You guys rock! P.S. I don’t know if I’d ever recommend the above combo to anyone for relief. Even though I feel much better now, it was a desperate measure and it was painful. For me it was worth it as I finally feel normal. Plus now I can feel that I lost weight - NO MORE BLOATED TUMMY! I’m going to be sure to add something to my daily diet so that I never have to go through that again! XOXO -D :sneaky:

Ok this has to be the craziest thing ever… talking to strangers about my “personal” stuff. Here’s the deal. I haven’t had a bowel movement since before my surgery (7/16). So basically it’s been TWO WEEKS! I saw my doctor a week after surgery and everything was great. He asked if I had a BM and I said no. He said to try Metamucil, which I did for the past week and NOTHING! Now I’m desperate! Does anyone know of anything I can take to help? I know I would feel a whole lot better if I could get the yucky stuff out of my system. I feel bloated, tired and sickly. I should feel great right now. HEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!

Banded today and I have GAS PAINS! HELP!

... um no pun intended! Really! I swear! Keep up the good work! And CONGRATS!!! -
RIGHT ON! I swear I read this and thought... "I don't think I wrote this, did I" I've been on clear liquids for 7 days now. I will be so happy to have something NOT CLEAR soon! I am surviving though. The hardest part is watching other "normal" people eat. I try to stay away, but while at work it's hard. Your daily “food” intake is just about the same as mine and my nights are filled with prescription narcotics as well. LOL My gas is relentless. I don’t think I’d ever fall asleep without something to relax me. I got some Gas-X today so hopefully that will help. And hey, don't worry about what people say. I know it's hard. I've had people talk about me ALL MY LIFE. If it wasn't one thing it was another. People are mean. Love yourself! Congrats on your band! I wish you all the best on your journey to a new life.
