I am an avid golfer, and play on several mini tours, and Canadian Tour events. How soon has anyone got the sticks back out? I have read many posts saying 6 weeks, but my Dr. said as soon as I feel up to it. Well it has only been a week, and I feel up to it. What damage can you do if it is too soon? I know John Daly was hitting balls after 10 days, although he is probably not the best example to follow. LOL!!! Thanks, Mike

Loosing Weight without fills.

Some great insight on this topic. I think I have pushed the envelope faster then I should of, but I am already playing while walking 18 holes of golf and I am 9 days post op, at about 80% golf swing speed as before, no pain at all. I posted early on this topic that I too questioned about a fill since I am still losing weight. Well, LOL, I am still losing weight, but I am now getting hungry more often, and found that I can eat with little restiction. I still eat in moderation, but feel I could still go on. I still plan on waiting till the weight loss stalls, but, maybe a little more restriction could be in order for me. Thanks, Mike -
First full 18 hole round Thursday (9 days post-op), everything feels fine, and no pain the next day. I found myself swinging at about 60% power, and maybe ended up at about 80% by the end of the day. Progressing allot faster then I had thought.

Pete, you have lost 71 lbs. in 3 months? That is amazing. I am at about 100 lbs what I was when I played in college, and I have done other diets and such over the years, and it seemed everytime I had dropped about 50-60 pounds, my game went to crap. it is a whole new swing, more upright instead of flat and swinging around and large ass and belly. Oh well, I look forward to those challenges, and not having to ever change again after that.

Thanks, I went out today, and played 9 holes at my home course. Swung at about 60% power, clubed up 1-2 on the irons, and did not do too bad. I shot one over, but only hit 4 greens, so the chipping game saved me. I can't imagine swinging 100% for at least 2-3 more weeks. I have a big tournament in 2 weeks, and hope to be able to play in it. My only problem is it is over 100 degrees in So Cal, and getting enough water without over drinking.

Any banded members... I would love your feedback

I do think there is way, way, way more good then bad. I just think it is human nature to post the bad, and get feedback. SO for every bad post, I am sure there are 25 positive ones that don't get posted. Hang in there, you will come to the right conclusion for you. -

My Dr. is a little less conservative I think. I started with mushies after 4 days. As long as I don't drink while eating, or wait 30 minutes after eating, I still get full pretty quick. I have been walking alot. Went to the gym 2 days ago, and did 10 minutes of light cardio, elliptical (no pulling with arms). Although would have been nice to use as an excuse for about 6 weeks, even ventured out and did some yard work, in the 100 degree So Cal climate. Definately loving so far, just hop I am not pushing it too fast, was planning on trying some golf tomorrow. -

I am in the same boat, was banded on 7-7-09 as well, and I am still losing. Shoot me a PM when you decide to get a fill, and where you are at. I too was going to wait till the weight lost slowed down or stopped. Good Luck -

I have had my band for only a week, and I am very pleased so far. I lost 25 pounds in the first week, and a know it will tapper off, now that the swealing of the stomache has gone down and more food can get in, but it has given me that jump start, and I am way more cautious about what I eat. Good luck -
Good luck on your band, that is my birthday.:frown: I have been forgoing the liquid Lortab Elixer, mainly because it tastes so bad, and tuffing it out. Just wrapped up day 4, and I feel like I can actually go and swing a club, very minor pain. It is killing me to not get out and be active, just afraid I would rip a stitch or pull my port loose, if it has not healed.

Hi everyone: This is strange to me, as I have been on several car Forums for many years, but thought I would check this out. Just got banded on 7/7/09. Pretty sore today, and not sure how far to push it. I will search around and learn as much as possible.

Mine took quite some time. I am with Blue Cross, Blue Shield. I think from my initial consultation, to surgery date (7/7/09) was 3 months. My BMI was 40, with no other complications. Good Luck!!!

Update: Shoulder still hurts more then anything. Legs are much better, and I can get up and down out of chairs, bed, or car with very little discomfort. Starting to get more frequesnt hunger pains, just drinking H2O as much as I can. I was not aware of a pre-op diet, and even pigged out my last night before surgury, so my numbers I think are way off then typical. I want to lose about 100-115 lbs., and in my first 4 days have dropped 23lbs. I am sure this will definately tapper off. But definately feeiling much better then I did that day after. LOL

Ya shoulder is killing me, and legs are real sore. That is what I was afraid of that I was gettoing blood clots in the legs. They feel a little better today. I rubbed some Icy Hot on them to stretch them out and go walking. Thanks for the replys.

Yes, I am a pro golfer, been bouncing around on the mini tours, and Canadian Tour for several years. Will be tough having to learn a new swing, but well worth it in the long run. LOL Anybody have soreness, almost like cramping in their calves and shoulder areas? They are more sore then my abdomen. Someone said it was a side effect of the anestesia. Thanks
