Thank you everyone for your wise advice. Did it ever help! I walked and walked and all the shoulder and neck pain went fast. As to Tylenol 3, who knew that would keep you awake! I stopped those after the first night. I do find it hard to get in all the Water they want and know I'm dehydrated. I'm lucky to get 12 oz down in a day. I'm building up liquid capacity slowly. Warm definitely goes down better. I'm following Danielle's Phase 1 foods to the letter. I think my body misses fibre though... when does that straighten out? Again thank you on line friends for your words of wisdom! Good luck everyone.

Leeleegrace, thank you so much for your words of wisdom. Running out to get gravol. Thank you Manitoba bandsters for answering my pre-op questions and being such a great resource. Well, Tuesday, Sept. 29 10:00 am is my moment of truth and the start of the rest of the life I want to live as a thinner person. Cheers to all.

I'm having mine Sept. 29th. How did yours go?

Thanks so much fergieis for your advice and heartening words. Were you given a prescription for pain meds at all? Did you crush the Tylenol? Did you try GasX strips? I read that hey help. I am concerned about going under anesthetic as they had trouble intibating me during my last surgery. Maples said they will have 2 anaesthetists for me. Figure someone will be looking out for me. Did you have to hook up your sleep apnea machine at Maples? Did you go to Garden City after 6 for that night? That's what is on my agenda. I'm wondering if we met at the psychologist's. I was the one that Jennifer had erroneously booked for your time.

Fantastic progress, fergieis. Glad to hear that you are doing so well after your surgery. I will have my operation Sept. 29. Any tips for getting over the jitters the night before?
-
Congratulations on your progress! You are an inspiration to those about to be banded and those that are banded. Tell me, what would you eat on a typical day and what proportions/measures? I'm curious. Diva

Could the seasoned bandsters give us an idea of what you eat, quantities, and menu ideas? Breakfast: ______________ Lunch: ________________ and especially Dinner: ________________________

For the would be, will be, and newly banded, would you kindly give me an idea of what you eat, how you cook it, and quantities.

Let me know how you are. I'll be you on Sept 12. Did you buy a Magic Bullet to help froth up the Meditrim mixture? Did you have protein bars in your pack? I only have shakes for the 2 weeks. Guess we will look forward to the 2 cups of veggies we can have daily!

Last night, I went to Maples to see the dietician and find out everything in readiness for Sept 29. Couldn't believe that they were still operating at 8:30 pm! Ordered and received some awesome books from Chapters on Lapbanding. One is a cookbook for after Weight Loss Surgery. It details when you could eat this recipe and how much lap banders could eat of it. Tammar that's wonderful! What an accomplishment! I've often thought that I am so used to just shopping in the Big Girl Stores, I would have no idea what stores to go to when I got down in weight. I remember reading about a lady who just cried when she got into a mall because she was thinking that she could now go into any store she wanted and get her size. That's you Tammar!!! Fabulous. You are an inspiration to those waiting to be banded!
-
Tammer, you've done so well! You've hit your groove. What are you doing - marathons?
-
Mandine. Good for you! You have your date! I was postponed from Sept 15 to the 29th. I see the dietician Monday. Do let me know what it was like and how you handle the early times. Yes, I'd be interested in a face to face support group. What area of the city are you in? I'm in the south.

Hi Manitoba Bandsters and guides, Now that I have a surgical date, I'm thinking about all the things I need to have on hand before the big day. I have read that you need Liquid Tylenol, liquid Gas X, Liquid Calcium and Liquid Vitamins. Can you get this stuff in Canada or do I need to make a run to the Forks? Did you substitute anything on this list? Also I have read that if you use papaya enzyme tablets it breaks up blockages. Can we get those here? Anyone used them? After surgery, can you use another brand of protein drink? I have read that Zero Carb ISOPURE is tasty. What brands have you found tasty? What protein bars are good? What should I have on hand? What else do I need to have on hand?

I'm glad there is someone else out there who feels torn between continuing and stopping. I went to Starbucks, ordered a tea, and drew up a plus minus charts of what was good about committing to the surgery and what was a concern. Then I valued what was most important as a 5 and least important a 1. Believe it or not, the scores were equal. I imagine the night before surgery is a non sleeping night...

Hi my Manitoba guides and advisors! Just got off the phone with Jen. I had had a hold up with the anesthetist because during my last surgery I had been difficult to intubate. I was half relieved that maybe I wouldn't qualify after all. I think my basic fear is that I won't wake up from the surgery. Well, I have a date...September 15. Gulp. I think I had talked myself out of it and now, it's full speed ahead. They will have 2 anesthetists on duty for me. Dietician appointment Aug. 17. Boy, do I need reassurance that I'm doing the right thing. Today, I don't feel that way.

Thanks for all the information and hints Manitoba bandsters. It's nice to know that you are not alone. Susan

Mimi, did you actually meet the anesthesist ahead of time? I would need a consult too as the last time I was under they had trouble intibating me. Where do you go for the psych assessment? Maples? What did they ask you? For the dietician, do you track your regular eating for awhile before you meet with them? How soon did these appointments happen? Susan
-
Question: How long was it before your surgery was scheduled from the time of your first information visit? I went July 7th (where I met Moonbeam :cool2:). They now have my pre-op exam report and labs. How soon after that did they schedule the dietician and psychologist appointments? Should I bug Jen to get appointments? Thanks for posting that the doctors are on holidays until Aug. 10th. I've been hanging around the phone...waiting for the next step. Doesn't sound like I'll be getting the lap band in August. Susan

How did you know when it was TIME to lose your prescription high blood pressure pills? Did you make an appointment with your regular doctor? Did you feel dizzy from low blood pressure? Were there any signs? Was it discontinued after your post op? Suz -

Hi Fabulous Fifties, Not banded yet but have a question. How soon were you able to get off your blood pressure meds? Anyone able to get off their thyroid meds for hypothyroidism? Suz -

Hi Manitoba Maples Bandsters, Went yesterday, July 7th, to Maples to chat. Yes, they have the special but all the July August operating times are filled! So the special is there but not really. The office manager said that they are looking at adding another day in August and maybe, hopefully, continuing the special into September - again... perhaps. I guess the thing that is stopping me for signing up immediately (besides the cost) is my worry about going under the anesthetic. I have an irregular heartbeat and worry. My last surgery they said I was difficult to intibate. Has anyone else had this worry about their middle aged heart and came through with flying colours? Signed, On the fence
