  1. Happy 37th Birthday idababy!

  2. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary idababy!

  3. In response to this, I would like to say that I am so glad that you are so perfect, but for the rest of us imperfect people, we make mistakes. I too, cheated a little my first week. Obviously, I have an addiction to food or I would not be in this situation and neither would you. Yes, having this surgery is a big life changing decision, but I am still human, I still make mistakes and sometimes I make mistakes over a freaking chicken strip. Good luck to you, but i know that you won't need it, your too perfect!
  4. OMG, I am so glad that I am not alone. I was banded on July 9th and I am on soft foods too. Since going off of liquids, i have gained 2 lbs!!!!!!!!!!! This is terrible! I have some restriction when I eat certain foods, but I am trying to cut back on the amount that I eat. I take a small dessert plate and eat off of that, but I still feel like its too much. Is it too much??? I don't know. The beginning of this process is alot harder than I thought it would be. I really thought that I would have lost more weight by now and that I would have restriction, but boy, this is a long journey. Guess I just need to be patient.......
  5. I live in Carthage, which is an hour from from both Chapel Hill and Raleigh, and I too am a nurse. I am an LPN, working n my RN. If you want any suggestions, just let me know. BTW, as far as traveling, we ate at KFC and I ate mashed potatoes, slaw and corn. Ate at MCD's and had the parfait and a burger without the bread. Taco Bell, refried Beans. Subway, had them make me a sub without the bread (they put it in a salad bowl for you). If you have anyother questions, just let me know. My e-mail address is mmarsh4@yahoo.com, I aslo have a facebook and myspace.
  6. hahah. This is too funny...we go to Topsail a couple of times a year too. I am from NC. Topsail is only about 2 1/2 hours away from me.

    Have you cheated Post op???

OK... I confess...I am 2 weeks post-op and I have cheated. If you look thru the threads you will find my "confessions". I think I even titled it confessions...I just posted it this past week, so it should not be too hard to find. Now, for those of you who want to hang me (again) don't bother..you can not beat me up anymore than I beat myself up. So, yea I have cheated, and so far, no problems here. I did talk with my Dr. and he said that I could stick with eating soft foods and just to try new foods one at a time to see what will and what will not work. If you want to know more just email me (mmarsh4@yahoo.com) and I will give you the details.
  8. I can so totally relate with the depression part, but the good new is that it does get better. I was banded July 9th and on day 3 I cried, day 5 I cried, day 7 I cried. lol Every other day was pitiful. Day 9 was such a turning point for me. Talk with your Dr. When I explained to mine that I was hungry and feeling sad all of the time, he let me go to mushie foods and boy was that great! Mashed potatoes and eggs have never tasted so good. Just know that it does get better and that I can relate. I so missed being able to eat, and wondered what in the heck had I done to myself, but those feelings are normal. Goood luck
  9. Hi, I just got back from Myrtle Beach last week. My hubby and i went and what worked for me was I let him order and I either ate a small portion of his (sharing can save alot of $$), or I ordered the soup and salad. My hubby was very considerate and ordered things he knew I could eat. I ate broiled seafood (very good protein source), soups, veggies and mashed potatoes. So, maybe youcan talk whoever is going with you into shating with you. Good luck and have a great time. We go to MB about 4 times a year, so let me know if you have any ?s.
  10. Tried fries already lol Could only eat 2 and I was miserable!!!! Oh well, its a learning process.
  11. Hi Everyone, My name is Michelle. Here is the issues that I hoping you guys can help with. I was banded 7/09/09. Only 11 days ago. I am still supposed to be on pureed food, but I just totally skipped that I have had some unforseen circumstances though. so, here is my story. After I was banded (about 2 days later), my kids (ages 16 & 12), left with some friends of ours to go to Key West. We are from NC. My oldest daughter went to get SCUBA certified. So, while they were gone my DH and I went to Myrtle Beach for 2 days. :wub:While there, we went out to eat and I did ok. I stuck with eating Soups and I even had a small amount of broiled flounder. I have had no problems eating. Then while in Key West, one of the friends (the wife) fell and shattered her leg and had to have emergency surgery. I knew that the husband of the friend was going to need help taking care of the kids and his wife, so off my hubby and I go to Key West. We drove straight thru. Once here, only 10 days post op now, I went snorkeling (that was fun), and it was some good exercise.:Dancing_wub: The problem is my eating. I am not sure what to do. After all, I am in Key West, away from home and kind of in vacation. Last night I ate some Pasta, and some mashed potatoes and a peice of very tender pork loin. The food here is awesome, but I only ate a small amount of each item. Today I had an egg and 2 bites of hash browns for Breakfast. And for luch I went to Subway and had them make me a steak sub without the bread in a salad bowl. I have eaten small amounts, but I am worried because I am ABLE to eat this stuff already. Is it ok, or am I screwing myself for later. Also, I have not been able to get in any of the Protein supplements since I have been here, but I am eating protein, so is that OK? I am so confused about this band thing.....Please help!!! Any advice is appreciated, and don't worry I am beating myself up for not being compliant. I actually cried last night, because I just don't know if this is normal. And if it is, then why am I not having trouble eating foods like everyone else. Why am I able to eat like this?????? PS: My daughter is now officially a SCUBA Diver!:Dancing_wub:

    One week later

Hi Everyone. This is Michelle. The one who started this thread...lol Well, today is post-op day 9 and let me tell you, it is a turning point. I felt so discouraged after surgery becasue everyone kept talking about how great they felt and I felt like total crap! I was swollen, gassy and sore. I could not sleep comfortably, I could sit for long periods of time comfortable, heck I could not even drink water comfortably! I sat on my couch on both days 3, 5 and 7 (odd days are not my days.lol) and cried, wondering what in the world had I done to myself! Today is great! The swelling has gone down, so the pain is barly noticable. I have not had anything for pain in 3 days! I can drink when I am thirsty with out having to sip real slow. things are going down alot easier since the swelling has subsided. I have eaten some clam chowder soup (minus the clams), cream of chicken soup, and even some grits. When you get to this stage things look alot better. Hang in there. i know that u are tired of hearing that (atleast I was), but really just hang in there. And if you have any questions, or want to talk, just drop me a message. Funny story here...I felt so good and "normal" yesterday that I thought something was wrong and called my Dr. He assured me that everything was fine and that I felt so good because the swelling from my surgery was going down. I really thought something was wrong because I felt so much better. lol So, just keep hanging in....
  14. Hey, I am now 9 days post op and my turning point was yesterday. Up until then, I could only sip liquids and even then I could "feel"it. And I was sooo thirsty, I kust wanted to gulp it down. I felt like I could not drink enough! I even had jello get stuck on my third day because I did not chew it. lol But yesterday, was totally different. It was so different that it scared me and called my Dr. to make sure nothing was wrong. As of yesterday i feel no restrictions, I can drink like normal. Dr. said this was very normal that I was healing and that the swelling must have went down. Only problem is now I don't feel the restriction so, I have to be very careful of what I eat. So, it will get better, just take it slow and give it time. (I know that you are tired of hearing that, I was.lol)
  15. Well, I was banded 7/9/09. So, I am only 5 days post-op. Pain wise I doing ok. I hurt a little, but not enough to take meds. But, today I am soooooo hungry!!!!! My DH and I went to the movies tonite and after the movie, I wanted a milkshake. Don't know why, but I was starving and REALLY wanted one. I just started crying because I knew that I could not have it. I am still on a thin liquid diet, and I can not stand the thought of another bite of Jello! I just cried and cried. Partly because I miss eating. I mean, I have cut out all sugar, caffene and food all at once. Is it normal to feel this way? Please help
