    About Yourself

I thought it would be nice if we all tell a little about ourselves if you would like to. A little about me. My name is Becky I am 29 will be 30 on April 24th. I live in Tennessee. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 12 years and we have 3 boys. Tyler and Jayden identical twins will be 10 in June and Ryan my baby is 7. I am the lone girl in a houseful of men. LOL. Of course I think it would be worse if we had all girls and my husband was the only one in a houseful of women. Ha-Ha. I am a Teacher's Assistant in Preschool. I work in my kids school it is a wonderful job I have the same schedule as my kids, off on weekends, holidays, and summer. Can't get any better than that. I have been working on the lapband since July 2009 it has been a journey I am glad it is finally scheduled. My surgery is scheduled for April 8th I am anxious, nervous, worried, excited, etc., etc. Can't wait to get to know you all and go through this wonderful life change with you. I won't be able to go to support group meetings because they are either during the day when I am at work or at night when my husband is at work and I don't have a babysitter. So I am hoping this will be my support besides friends and family when I need it.

    April Bandster Bunnies

Update: Well I went for my 4wk post-op visit. Everything looked good I lost 1lb so glad for that. I got my appetite back full force when I started healing. I was so sure I gained. I had some disovable stitches coming out of my incisions my doc said well your body didnt like my stitches. LOL. He is to funny. So they pulled those out. I had dermabond on my incisions these are the inside stitches that came out. I had to lay down on a table then he said there would be a sting and that would be all of the pain and yep it stung than I had to stand up and stand in the fluoroscopy thing, drink a little strawberry barium while he filled my band. Then had to take sips of water and tell him how it felt going down. It went really fast and did hurt a little but not as bad as I thought it would be. He didnt tell me how much he put in they dont like you stressing over how much fluid is in your band and I dont really care as long as it is working. So all in all it wasn't nearly as bad as I had built it up to be. I do have a BIG bruise where they did it but I bruise really easy so that isnt suprising at all. I am on clear liquids for tonight than transition to full liquid-soft foods tomorrow and soft foods-solid foods Thursday as tolerated. Hope everyone is doing good. Glad to be on the next stage of my journey.. (((Hugs to all)))

Hey everyone just wanted to check in real quick. Doing alot better finally. Have occasional pains from gas and my chest gets real tight when I walk. But 100% improvement over the pain that I did have. My appetite is back which in a way is good because it tells me that I am healing and bad because my appetite is back. LOL. I have been able to tolerate everything I have tried so far but I know that will change when I get my fill so not getting excited over it will just have to start over with trying things. I go for my 1 month post op and first fill tomorrow. A little nervous I don't like needles and my dr doesn't numb anymore. Hopefully it won't be that bad. Will try to update again soon. Hope all April Bunnies are doing good. We are all banded woohoo.
  4. I need help. I tried an Unjury chocolate protein shake and it is disgusting. I can handle isopure fruity drinks or the whey protein shots but chocolate and vanilla shakes gag me I am not a milk drinker either so that doesn't help. What I am wondering is the isopure fruity good enough it has 40g protein. I just can not handle protein shakes. Has anyone found one that is good? I do like carnation instant breakfast so I guess I could stick with that. Any suggestions would be wonderful. Since the isopure is 40g would it be good to drink half in the morning and half at lunch or does it matter? Thanks guys.
  5. Checking in with ya. Just wondering how you are doing. Let us know. :)

Has anyone heard from Waynoo? Was just wondering how he was doing? How is everyone else that recently got banded would love more updates from everyone. I am day 4 post op. Still have shoulder pain, chest pain (can't get a good deep breath) , I keep having these burp hiccup type things that I can feel rolling all the way up my chest. They are killer and my port site is still real sore and bruised. I feel a tad better but not much. I am so ready to start feeling better. Anyone else still having pains? Good luck to everyone getting banded this week.

Have you tried Nature's Best Isopure Zero Carb from GNC? They come in 6 different flavors I like Alpine Punch and Blue Raspberry they have 40g of protein. It is a nice change from protein shakes. I can not tolerate protein shakes. Also there is the Whey Protein Shots they have 42g of protein they are really thick sort of like cough syrup but it is only a 3.4oz tube so not to bad I have to hold my nose when I drink this one though. Hope you can find something good switch it up a little and it wont be so bad. Take care.

    April Bandster Bunnies

Well it is day two I finally got some sleep yesterday went to bed about 10:30 p.m. and slept till about 9:30 a.m. was up and down a few times a couple times putting the heating pad on my shoulder and once for meds. I am still taking my Loratab every 4 hrs on the dot. Wish I didn't have to but still in pain. I felt a little better this morning got up drank some chicken broth to loosen up some mucus and drank some water and an isopure. A couple weeks ago our transmission went out on our van so we went car shopping we need a reliable vehicle to get to work, and me back and forth to the Dr. had no luck vehicles are really expensive and I was in pain and moody, walked about 2 miles, have had alot of gas. It is awful when you are so excited to fart. LOL. Now my shoulder is starting to hurt again pretty bad been taking the gas-x strips all day. My port site hurts pretty bad too it is bruised which they said may happen. I have also started my period which totally sucks that just adds more pain and bloating to everything else. Crossing my fingers for a better day tomorrow. I am on clear liquids for a week than I move on to full liquids. I am not hungry at all I ate a jello tonight and some chicken broth and have had to force that down. There is alot of gurgling going on in there does anyone else have that I am figuring that it is gas. ? Froggie- I said the same thing to my husband today that wow I can't believe I am banded and it is in there it all went so fast. LOL.

Hi Ms. Rhonda looks like we are getting banded the same day. I have to say I am not good with people saying "come on and eat this you wont be able to after surgery" that is what happened to me yesterday at Easter dinner and I felt awful today. I already have had the Last Supper Syndrome real bad so it didnt help everyone trying to get me to eat and enjoy it yesterday. LOL. Just try your best to ignore them grab you a sf popsicle or jello and say na that's o.k. I have something better. Tomorrow I am starting my clear liquids I only have to do the day before surgery but I am going to start it a day early figure it can't hurt. We can do it.
  13. Hey Waynoo nope I don't mind I posted it in the group for anyone to use. Glad you like it. :) Not long for you either the day after me right?

It is from GNC. It is like flavored water. It tastes pretty good. They have several different flavors my favorite is Blue Raspberry.

I have a question. Where do April 2010 Banders post at the most. In here? In the April 2010 board? In the Group? Or all of the above? Just curious.

O.k. that is good to know I was getting worried. I think since it has taken so long to get approved that now I am worrying about every little thing that could go wrong to prevent me from getting it. I am a big worry wart. LOL. I am so glad I have found this site and hope to keep in touch with all of you. I will not be able to go to support group meetings because I have three kids and I dont have a babysitter. So it will be wonderful to have all of you to keep in touch with and go through this journey with..

Does everyone in here have to do the pre-op diet? For some reason I don't have to. I was sure I would have to. So I'm kind of suprised that I don't. Not that I am griping.
