deanna replied to deanna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you guys so much!!!!!!! :girl_hug: Should I be honest when the shrink evaluates me about my obessions/compulsions with food? Are they going to tell me I can't get banded, do you think? I wonder if they'll deem me "not yet ready". -

Hello Everyone! I haven't been banded yet, but my first pre-op appointments and testing are scheduled for about a month from now, and I am so over-studied in banding it's rediculous! Now I'm onto the "What-if" scenarios, lol. I was wondering if anyone knows how long after being banded and after fills it takes until you're allowed to swim in a public (gross, I know!) pool. Swimming is the only way by big butt can excerise right without me being afraid that I'm going to work myself right into a heart-attack! I can barely tie my shoes without keeling over! :faint:I would assume that once the wounds from the surgury are mostly healed, any chemicals in the pool would protect you from bacteria and getting infections, right??? Does anyone have some knowledge they want to pass this way???? Thanks everyone!!!! :kiss2:Lots of LOVE,:kiss2: Deanna Marie

Swimming after being banded
deanna replied to deanna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Sandy! My first pre-op appointments are for May 15th, and I know that the hospital where I have decided to get my surgury usually quotes a 3 month time span between your first pre-op appointment and your surgery date, so I am assuming that I will have my surgery in mid-August. I totally couldn't stand to wait six more months, I don't think! I'm already cruising websites to try and decide what clothes I want to buy when I hit my goal weight! haha. Sad, I know! Is your meeting this Tuesday an appointment or one of the meetings you need to attend before you can schedule doctors appointments? Keep me updated on your process! It will be great to have somebody to talk to who is going through the same thing at around the same time!!! -

Hey everyone! I have my first preop appointment in a few weeks, and I am just making the bills as it is! I was wondering if anyone knows if the $500 due at the first pre-op appointment can be waived by the financial office or anything? I'm on free state healthcare as it is... I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences with that or not! Also, I met Dr. Jones tonight at the Info session- He's so great!!!!! I can't wait to get started! BIDMC is sooo much better than B&W, where I was thinking of going before!!!

woohoo Nana! You're closer to "the other side"!!! Keep it up, girl!

I saw that you're from the cape, me too!! I'm on my way back to Mashpee from Georgia right now, so I've gotta go hit the road, but you have a great night, and think thin!!! :welldone: sweet dreams! love always. Deanna

Hey everyone!!! I just scheduled my first appointment, where they said to come in fasting because they're going to do bloodwork. They said then I will have a physical by the doctor, and then meet with the nurse. Does anyone know what I will be doing with the nurse??? I am so excited that this is finally becoming a reality!!!!

YAY!!!!! Great job, you're committed! Pretty soon you'll be on the "other side"!!!!!!! Good luck, and my prayers will be with you!

hey you! perk up and smile! You've taken a huge step, and you should be proud of yourself! Just think, right now things are tough, but pretty soon you're going to be healthier and stronger than you've been in a long time, and possibly ever!!!! hang inspirational pictures on your wall, and surround yourself with good friends and family memebers who lift you up! It's a long road, but you're on it, so hold on tight and shine on, baby!

Hello everyone!!! I have been looking into the lapband for about a year now, but didn't have insurance, so it was a financial no-go. I am now covered under the state's new "Commonwealth Care" program, and was wondering if they cover lapband surgery. Does anyone know? How do I find out? I'm 20 and newly on my own, so I haven't quite mastered the whole insurance thing yet! :clap2:Thanks for all the support everyone has given me, and I am so proud of you all!:clap2: Have a great day!:kiss2:

Hello! I have been a lurker on this site for a few days now, and I figured it was time to jump on in! I am considering getting a lap band, but had a few questions and was wondering if anyone could help me out! I am a twenty year old female, 5'7", and weigh 245 lbs. I have polycystic ovaries, metabolic syndrome, high cholesterol, and am pre-diabetic. How do I know what may qualify or disqualify me from surgery? Also, when I was a kid, I was diagnosed with angioedema, which only showed badly once when I got a really bad sunburn. Does angioedema affect whether you may or may not get banded??? Sorry, so many thoughts all over the place! I am so proud of all of you, I have been reading about your triumphs, and it's beautiful! :clap2: I wish you all luck, and I will keep you in my prayers! Love always, Deanna

Newbie asks: angioedema and the lap band?
deanna replied to deanna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey guys! Thank you so much for all of your replies! I am absolutely astounded by the love and support on this board! I thank God that I found it! Lighter02, I have not yet made an appointment with the surgeon, because before you even make an initial appointment, you have to attend a free information session that he gives, so you know exactly what's going on. I am going in two weeks, and I am soooo excited! Have a beautiful night, everyone!
