Ahh! Sushi or sashimi sounds like heaven right now! I'm on week two of three of mushies and I'm definitely ready to eat some more soft foods. I haven't really strayed too far from mushy food except for some chicken and tuna salad that could have been a little more pureed. Sashimi would be so satisfying. It sounds perfect. The portions are small, the protein is good, and low in calories overall. I'm so jealous right now! lol. I bought some artificial crab meat the other day and it's just sitting in my fridge. I don't know why I thought I should buy it, because I know it's more of a "soft food". Maybe if I chew it really well...

Hey birthday twin! Do you have a date to get banded yet? How much do you want to lose?

Yay! Proud of you! I hope you can get some good rest tonight. Let us know how you progress! -
how long is this gas referred to the left shoulder gonna last! ugh! ouch!!
Little Teapot replied to jennifer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My gas pain hasn't been horrible, but I do get pressure in my chest and under my ribs from if sometimes. The thing that has actually helped me the most is having my husband rub my back and pat it like I'm a newborn baby. I cam feel the gas moving up and out when he does this. I feel like a newborn baby too, because he's so proud every time I burp! lol. -
AHHHHHHHHHH! Today's the day! I can't believe this is really happening! It feels like I've been waiting for so long, and now it's suddenly here! Heading to the hospital at 6:45 and I will be leaving there this afternoon as the proud mother of a Lap Band!!! What should I name it? lol

College - More of a plus size Q than lap band Q.

Sometimes they'll have a random loose chair and table. Maybe if you get there pretty early, you can scout it out. I KNOW this fear! It sucks! -
Good luck WEESIE and NJGirl! Let us know how you do!

Too few Calories Post-OP! Help!!!
Little Teapot replied to GoSetReady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just worrying over he same thing last night. I was banded on the 20th, and I'm nowhere close to meeting my nutritional requirements. I calculated yesterday's food, and I was under 600 calories! -
Is anyone else a nerdy-goodie two shoes and SO careful since being banded?

Band Nerds! LOL! I love it! -

Call me a nerd too! I was just recently banded, but I plan on following the same path. I'm too afraid of screwing this up to cheat! Like you said, mistakes will be made, but I don't plan on going easy on myself. I've got goals that I plan on meeting!!! -
You may have some trouble with reflux after surgery since the food is sitting at the bottom of your esophagus for longer than it used to. I haven't had any trouble with reflux so far. Did you have trouble with heartburn/reflux before surgery?
-
It's just the generic name for Prilosec, which is a medicine for reflux/GERD.
-
I thought of the perfect name! Since I got the Realize band, I'm going to call her "Liza"! lol Liza can be your best friend one day and a back-stabbing bitch the next, but somehow you just can't live without her!

I was banded on the 20th, and like you said, you're not really "eating" anything, so it's most likely not a stuck episode. I've been having the same type of pain and I think it's just the pain of your muscles that were damaged during surgery. I was really worried too because it seems like I keep reading about other people who were so quick to bounce back. I never thought I would be in as much pain as I was the first two days after surgery. It's getting a little better each day. The worst thing was that I was having muscle spasms in my stomach where I think my port was placed, so it did kind of feel like someone punching my stomach. I'm sorry you're in so much pain, but it does make me feel a little relieved to hear that someone else is having a similar post-op experience. It will be so nice when we no longer feel like we've been repeatedly pummeled in the stomach! As for the Protein, some people have talked about clear little vials of protein supplement that can be added to your regular drinks. I think you can find them at GNC. Go to Walmart and buy a couple different brands of pre-made Protein Drinks to sample. Good luck!

Banded 3 days, pain in center of chest
Little Teapot replied to Sheran4eva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 20th and have been having the same chest pain/pressure, especially when I lay down. The only cause I could think of was the gas just being stuck in my chest. I'm having trouble getting it all out. Walking does help, and it has been feeling a little better every day. I slept in a recliner for the first two nights after surgery and I didn't have much trouble with the pressure then. I think when I lay down flat, the gas just rises right up to my throat. How are you feeling otherwise? My stomach still looks like a freakshow! lol -
Question for the ladies....
Little Teapot replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cute! I don't think $75 is too bad. It costs a lot to get a quality made, supportive and durable swimsuit. We can't just wear cheap little flimsy pieces of fabric! (not yet at least lol). Besides, you deserve it! -
I never expected to be in this severe amount of pain. The vicoden only mildly takes the edge off. It worries me. I keep reading of others who are only mildly uncomfortable and it worries me that I shouldn't be in this much pain. Please, is there anyone else who experienced this?

Banded yesterday and worried
Little Teapot replied to Little Teapot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pain is slightly better now. I paged the nurse who was supposed to call and check in with me at some point today and I still haven't heard from her. My husband and my mom are doing a good job of nursing me though! My mom is a nurse so I feel lucky to have her help me through this. They didn't give me any liquid loritab. I was only given vicodin pills that I can take every six hours. I'm counting down the hours each time. Thank god I'm feeling a little better. My stomach looks like a freak-show though and it's weirding me out! It looks so foreign to me. Thanks for all the responses guys. I love this forum! -
My surgery is tomorrow and...
Little Teapot replied to Little Teapot's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon just called to check in with me (perfect timing) and I asked him! He said I won't be catheterized!! YAAAY! -
Something is freaking me out! I never asked the surgeon this question and I will definitely ask him in the morning...Am I going to be catheterized? I know it may seem like a trivial detail of surgery, but it's really got me freaked out! lol. It has always been one of my biggest fears. How many of you were catheterized for surgery? If you were cathed, did they do it while you were awake or after you were asleep?
-
Good luck!!! I have to be at the hospital at 6:45. Glad I'm getting it over with early, since I'm sure I won't be sleeping much anyway. Keep us posted on how you're feeling tomorrow. We're almost on the "other side'!!!!

Yay for you! My surgery is this Friday, and I can't wait! How has your recovery been?

14 hours till band time
Little Teapot replied to Freddy Henin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel ya! My surgery is this Friday. I couldn't be happier about having the band, but the only surgery I've ever had was when I was 5. I have a good hour or so drive to my hospital too. I plan on listening to my favorite "booty shake" music. lol. Maybe listening to your favorite music and singing along will help ease your nerves on the way to the hospital. Just think, it will all happen so fast...just picture yourself waking up in recovery and think about how accomplished you'll feel. Good luck man! -Amber
