    social eating

Thanks everyone. I'll keep trying. I do sometimes order slider foods like soup or desserts like ice cream so at least i get some calories. I read that some people always order a dip with their chicken to keep things moist. I'm going to try that. Today is wedding anniversary and he's taking me out. I'm grateful but a little anxious. I don't want to ruin family's fun. But like you said maybe they don't even notice. Everyday is another AFGO (another f#*&ing growth oppurtunity)

Going to OA for the first time...18 yr old

I was a member of OA for years and then the disease and life got in the way. I regained all the weight and 2 years ago had lapband surgery. Physically I'm much saner but still have to watch behaviors around food and eating. I went back to OA and they were wonderful about the surgery. Glad you're taking care of yourself. Good luck and keep coming back.

    social eating

Social eating is still a problem for me. I've been banded for almost 2 years and lost 100 lbs. but when I'm with a group eating out, it's a mess. I don't know if I eat faster than usually, too big of bites, or just nerves that people will comment on what I'm eating or not eating. Wondered if anyone else had this issue.
  6. I think it's tricky because sometimes it's eating too fast or the wrong type of food, drinking with eating, but sometimes it can be "safe" food. I wonder if hormones play a part. I do usually have to keep sliming until something substantial is unlodged. One time I had grapes and those skins were a pain for like 8 hours until my throat was soooo sore. I just kept drinking water and nothing else. That was probably the worst and I had to go for an unfill to let my throat recover.
  7. It can start a vicious cycle with me. I pb one day and then have to be super careful for a day or nothing stays down. Before I know it, i can be needing an unfill. I wish there was a way to reduce the swelling after a pb.
  8. I drink coffee for breakfast and then have a milk based protein drink. So I've never been sure if this follows the 30 minute no drink rule or not. Any opinions?
  9. This has happened to me also. Does anyone know why? My doctor said something about scar tissue but that doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for the advice.
