What's the best way to take crushed pills? It is too bitter. Help!
blondensmart replied to heather316's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard people mix it with a small amount of jelly. The sweetness of the jelly counteracts the tartness of the pills. -
New ideas for soft foods please
blondensmart replied to hayley_94's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Cream of Wheat is a good option. Has a ton of vitamins. -

I know that it is a scary proposition...but, you can be successful! Whenever those fears begin to take over, imagine the YOU that you want to be. I promise that every last second of it is worth it. -

The date will show July 7, 2009, but it's just after midnight so it's actually really July 6, 2009. I weighed this morning, and I was thrilled to see that I lost another 4 pounds. That makes a total of 41...21 since surgery! YAHOO! I have really enjoyed this site. Talking to people has helped me realize some mistakes that I was making. First and foremost, MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE!!! I started measuring my food again today and it has made a world of difference. I feel much better, and I know I'm not overeating now. I've also started making sure that I don't drink while I eat. I figured out that in order to do that, I have to leave my drink somewhere else. If you know you have a weakness, find ways to help yourself! Well, today was a good day, and I will post again tomorrow! :confused3:

I am now about 2 1/2 wks post-op. I'm worried that I'm messing everything up, but I'm doing the best that I can. I seem to have good results on the weight loss side, but I have so many questions...I'm really excited to find this site because there isn't anyone who knows the answers better than the people who are fighting the same battles! I'm not really discouraged, but I have a few problems that I'm concerned about. First and foremost, I still have a lot of redness around my port site and it's hot to the touch. I had it looked at by a local doctor who knows absolutely nothing about the band, but he said that I shouldn't worry. However, knowing you shouldn't worry and actually not worrying are two different things! I'm also worried about not sticking to the liquid diet. I just couldn't do it! I was throwing up at least twice a day and finally started eating soft foods. I'm very careful to chew, and I haven't had any problems so far. Just hoping it continues! Last concern - I seem to wait too long to eat and I feel like I'm eating too much at a sitting. I know that a lot of people claim that they can't eat hardly at all, but I can eat about 6 oz of chicken, 1/2 c. broccoli and 1/4 cup of beans at once. I don't feel any pain or pressure afterwards, but I keep thinking what if I'm stretching my stomach? I'll have done all of this for nothing! Well, this seems like a pretty long blog, but it's two weeks worth of concerns rolled up into one blog! Man, it does feel better to write it all down. Well, I will never give up on my goal to become a LOSER! :crying:

Left Upper Quadrant Abdominal Pain-? Port Pain
blondensmart replied to nursejenjen2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this same exact problem. It was so bad that taking a deep breathe would send stabbing pain through my side. I am pretty tough, having had a hip replacement and multiple other surgeries, but it was absolutely killing me! I called the doctor and explained all of my symptoms. (My port site also felt very warm to the touch) The nurse told me to exercise! Exercise? I couldn't even breathe! It finally got so bad that I went to the ER. I've continued to have a little bit of pain, but the worst of it has gone away. I just had to share my story of something stupid a nurse said...hope everything gets better for you. -
