  1. I was banded on 07-07-09, and I wish someone had told me it was normal to have an "emotional meltdown" after surgery. On days three and four after surgery, I cried for two solid days, and wondered what in the world had I done to myself and my life!!!!!!! I too, am a total food addict, and the thought hit me hard that I would never be able to eat a lot of any of my favorite foods again!!!! I know that is the whole point of getting banded, but for me it was devastating. I think the one thing that contributed to my emotional state at that time was the fact that I could consume ONLY liquids for two solid weeks! I lost 20 pounds in three weeks after surgery, but it those first two weeks were very hard to me. Now, I am so glad I did have the surgery and my outlook is positive. Just be prepared in case that happens to you. Be aware ahead of time that if you do feel that way, it will pass and you will get better!!!!!!!!!! Kakki
  2. Hey! Sorry you are having so much trouble. I don't think it's supposed to be that way. I am pretty new at this band thing, I had lap band surgery on 07-07-09, but I have done really well, and haven't vomited even one time. I am about four weeks post-op, and I can eat things like a serving of oatmeal, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, wheat bread with peanut butter, etc. with no problem. I have to eat very slowly and chew everything really well, but no problems so far. My suggestion is to see your surgeon, because SOMETHING is not right if you are throwing up after three bites. Tell your surgeon what your fear is about having an "un-fill". Your problem may be solved with something as simple as a minor adjustment. Good Luck!!!!! Kakki

    4 days Post - OP

Hey! I am six days post-op, and the gas nearly killed me for the first four days after surgery! I didn't think it would EVER go away, but finally it starting letting up a bit. Something that helped me a lot was the Gas-X and Phazyme Gas reduction strips that you put on your tongue and let dissolve. That was a major help. Kakki
  4. Hey Paulette,

I too, was banded on 07-07-09, so I am six days post-op. I have had the hardest time trying to figure out something to mix this crappy protein powder with to make it tasty enough to enjoy. That mess is awful. I have the Isopure Vanilla and the Unjury Chocolate. So far I have mixed it with skim milk, but it gets harder to swallow with every "meal", if you can call it a meal. What are you using, and what are you mixing with?

  5. I am three days post-op and I am regretting that I ever had this done. I have had two crying spells in the last few days, which is so out of character for me. I absolutely hate the protein powder mix, it tastes awful! My family is eating out tonight at the Outback and I'm at home sipping on water and dreading the next two ounces of protein brew. Help!
  6. I want to thank everyone for your response to my plea! I was beginning to wonder if I was losing my mind. Thanks so much guys! Kakki
  7. God Bless you Debbie! It helps to know that there are others in the same boat that feel the same way I do. I was banded on 7-7-09 and today is a little better, but this has been the hardest five days of my life! Kakki
  8. Hello! I am totally new here, and I am scheduled for Lapband surgery in four days! I am excited and nervous at the same time. I have purchased some Protein powder, both Isopure and unjury, but what do you mix it with? The only thing I can think of is skim milk. I know there must be other tasty options. Anyone care to share?
