Can I eat too little on the Pre-op?

I've heard lots of people say they haven't been able to tolerate milk after the sleeve and this really worries me cause I like my milk and I don't eat meat so it can be a valuable source of some Proteins. Do you find it's getting better or have you avoided it since you discovered the tolerance?

Can I eat too little on the Pre-op?

I'd kill for a banana right now! It's not on my allowed list.
  3. Oh that's good to hear! I'm hoping the whole experience will dreadfully uneventful. lol - just a few more days now - I'll let you know how I go when I get back from hospital.

    Drainage, Leakage and Staples?

My doctor uses a liquid that he will rub over the staple line. I found a video of someone doing the procedure on youtube and they use one too. I hope it helps. I'm not looking forward to the blue dye thing :confused1:.
  5. Yeah I know what a heatwave all of a sudden. Thanks for the welcome - I'm getting sleeved next week so my mood is varying between scared to determined to calm to petrified to doubtful to excited, lol! If you don't mind me asking - who was your doctor and were you happy with them?

  6. I'm only getting started honey! I'm getting sleeved next Monday the 28th. Filled with nervousness at the moment - I'll let you know how I go as I get out of hospital. One word of advice though - if you have yet to find a doctor don't be afraid to go to a couple of different ones to make sure you're getting the best service for your money and you're comfortable with the doctor.

Can I eat too little on the Pre-op?

Success!! I managed to get two Protein drinks down today! I'm so happy, now I know I can persevere with it. I've found if I put a heap of ice in it makes it so much more do-able. The prepackaged shakes will be a great idea for when i go back to work - thanks Phoenixrising. I'll have to hunt around for some. JoAnne you were given a much more comprehensive meal plan than I was - I was just told to have 3 shakes a day with a cup of salad/vegetables at lunch and dinner. No starchy veges (i.e. potato, pumpkin etc) and no-calorie drinks/gum. Oh and I can have 5 strawberries with Breakfast shake. I'd kill for some cottage cheese right now, lol!

That's good to hear Jellico - I don't really fancy going back to work the next week with a fluid sac.

    100+ Pound Club

Hi, I'm new to the boards! I'm needing to lose over 50kilos which is over a 100 pounds. I'm not yet sleeved - 1 week from tomorrow! With the trepidation has come a host of other fearsome thoughts about my time after surgery and my life as it evolves. It's really daunting to think I have to lose more than half of my body weight. And then there's the skin thing - I'm only 24 so I'm hoping that's on my side but I've been big my whole life and I have previously lost weight (60+pounds) before and put it back on so I'm really worried that my skin just no longer has that give in it. My ultimate fear though? That is - losing all the weight and still feeling the same - like tired and grumpy, inactive, have big dark circles around my eyes, continuing PCOS symptoms, and nutritional deficiencies. I want to lose weight so that I can feel alive again, jump and move around a be active and connect with my body again. I want to feel light - it was the most awesome feeling in the world when I was thinner. So I'm crossing my fingers and my toes that I will be able to eat everything my body will need and not feel like I'm constantly on a VLC diet even though I can get full. :biggrin0:

1 Step Forward, 5 Steps Backward

Ladiesassie my heart goes out to you! Please don't feel ashamed that you had McDonalds or that your motivation has taken a dive - if you remember rightly we're all here because we've been through the exact same things. I'm not yet sleeved but I will be in a week, and although I know the sleeve works fantastic for a lot of people, I've drummed it into my head that it doesn't change the way I think or feel about food. If you're looking for extra motivation I think you should definitely have a look around at some doctor run weight loss clinics (a lot of hospitals have them now). It's something I'm planning on doing once I am off the mushies and able to eat normal food. My doctor really stressed the point to me that the sleeve is only a tool. You'll find a proper weightloss clinic like doctor run ones or the Dr Cohens one will form a strong game plan for you to follow based on your tastes, your stomach limitations and your nutritional needs. And a lot of them require you to check in once a week which makes it easier on your 'motivation'. I know what it feels like to be in that black hole wishing you could will yourself out of these problems but finding you just don't care enough to try anymore. I think you should stop, breathe and try for a little while just to take care of yourself emotionally and then when you're feeling stronger the physical aspect will follow.:biggrin0:

I think I am ready for the surgery!

Good Luck! My sleeve is booked for the following Monday. You'll do great - just take it easy and try not to get too nervous.:biggrin0:
