Hey guys. We decided to wait and go to the doctor on Monday. I really didn't feel like waiting in the ER for hours. I love the game idea. It sounds like fun. I already sent in my 25 words. No I can't wear a bra either but I haven't been anywhere really so I haven't had a problem yet. I have now lost 17 pounds but it wasn't fun. I'd rather not lose and not be in pain than lose. But I had not choice. I am not hungry at all. I am still having high numbers when I take my blood sugar levels and I am not eating much. I haven't taken my pills since my operation but they are still high i.e. 125, 117, 110, etc. when I wake up in the morning. Is anyone else having this problem? I was told that something was wrong if they were still high. I don't know. What are you thoughts?

I am sorry when I said solids. I meant soft foods. I was banded on the 12th and I had 2 weeks of liquids and 4 weeks of soft foods. That is what I am on now. Soft foods. Sorry I mislead you.

Do any of you get sharp pains in your stomach area? Mostly after you eat somehting solid. I am experiencing that as well. Beth

I haven't gone yet. The doctor told my hubby that unless I am throwing up and having severe pain that it is probably just acid reflux. I don't think so but it kept me from going to Dallas at least tonight. I am supposed to see how it is tomorrow and then we will see. I felt nauseated a little after I tried to eat something but it went away so I think I am fine. I will write tomorrow and let you know how I am feeling. I am going to take it real easy until Monday and then go to the doctor here in Fort Worth. Beth

I talked to doctor today and he wants me to go to the emergency rooom at the hospital in Dallas tonight. He thinks that my band might have slipped. I don't think the pain is that bad though. I live in Fort Worth and I have a phobia about going places that are far from my home. Dallas is way too far for me. I don't know what to do. My hubby is talking to the doctor now and I hope we can work something out. The doctor is going to give me some medicine to get me there but I don't want to go. I know my health is important and I will go if I have to. I will write back and fill you guys in when I find out what is wrong. Beth

I have been sick the past two days. I haven't had much to eat period. I have tried to eat high Protein foods but not any extra protein. I know I should have more but I can barely eat anything right now. I wasn't told how many calories to have in a day so I just try to eat things with little sugar which is very hard. I agree with you. Does anybody have pain when you bend down? I do. I have to bend down to feed the dog and it just about kills me. I was just wondering.

I am at 15 pounds lost now. But I am sick so that really isn't fair. I don't eat enough in one day to fill a fly. But I hope to be feeling better soon. Congrats on all of ya'll's successes. Beth

KMO- I ate what I always eat for breakfast. Toast with peanut butter on it. I didn't eat much yesterday because I was sick. Today I don't feel much better. It might be a bug. I have a call in to talk to the dietian to find out what I should try to eat. I hope she calls soon. I will let you know later in the day what is going on with me. Beth

I need some help from some of you veterans or nurses out there. I woke up this morning feeling fine. I had breakfast and then about an hour later I had diarrrea (sp?) and then my stomach started to hurt. It hurt right up under my breastbone. It was definitely my stomach. It hurt all day. I finally ate some peanut butter crackers this evening and some popcycles. I don't think I have fever although my thermomiter might be broken. I don't know what it is. Should I be real concerned about this or is it just something that will go away? I don't want to have any problems with my band. I thought it would be better by now but it is not. I know I haven't had a good eating day but I didn't think that anything would stay down. Oh yeah I had some soup for lunch. It barely stayed down. I am hungry a little but not sure on what to eat. What should I do? Help:help: Beth

My husband bought me 6 boxes of SF Carnation Instant Drink mix and it is good but it doesn't have as much protein as the other drinks out there. I don't think that he will buy anything else until those are all gone. So maybe I will have to drink 2 of them a day and hope they go fast. I like them. They are good. I don't think I am getting enough protein in my daily routine. I do eat peanut butter, cottage cheese, cheese, eggs, chicken and tonight I had baked beans and ham. So maybe I am. Maybe I should add it up and see. Duh:confused: Beth

I don't know about that but does anyone know if not having enough protein(60mg) a day is really hurting me? What are the ramifacations if I don't get all my protein in? Beth

I had a kidney transplant 29 years ago and because of the medicine I take I think it will take my body much longer to heal. Because I still feel worn out all the time. My scars are healing but still hurts a little. I think that I will have to take it slower than some of you. Thank goodness I don't work or have little kids running around. (I have already done all that). Thanks for your help and I hope my spirits come up in the next few days. I can't get a fill until 6 weeks out. I have 3 more to wait. Bummer. Beth

My biggest worry is that I am not going to lose weight. All that wasted money and effort for what. I haven't been losing and I barely eat anything. I eat just what I am supposed to. I don't know why I have to drink all that protein? I didn't have to before. Why now? I hate the taste and I have problems getting it in with all the other stuff I have to eat. Proien, protein, protein and then more protein. And water? when does that come in if I can't drink during meals? Oh man you shouldn't have started me on the venting thing because I am very discouraged about the band and I don't think it is working. I am 3 weeks out and have only lost 12 pounds. Wow I could lose faster if I did it be myself.Sorry guys I guess it feels good to vent. I can't vent around here because nobody would understand. I hope things turn around for me. Beth

Finally I have had a pain free day. I woke this morning feeling really good. I didn't have any pain anywhere. WOW But after a trip to the grocery store I was worn out. I have been taking it easy the rest of the day but still no pain. I don't want to over do. What do you guys eat for your mushies? Beth

I was told by my dr that the Protein that you use should have no more than 5 grams of sugar per serving. I was told to go to GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe. Also if you have a smoothie King around they have good Protein drinks. That is what I was told. I hope this helps. I still haven't found the frozen yoqurt around here yet. I like sf popcycles. Beth -
Let me state that there is nothing wrong with Dr. Barnes at all. McCarty is just cuter.

I had my surgery on the 12th and I am still experiencing alot of pain. My hubby thinks that I am eating too much. But I have a hard time believing that because I am eating so little. (I think) How much should I be eating? I am not losing much weight either. Maybe I am eating too much. I just eat until I am full and then wait 30 minutes to drink water. Why do I still have pain? My big scar is not totally healed yet either. Dr. said to put neosporim (sp?) on and I have been doing that. It does look better. I also don't have very much energy either. What is wrong with me??????:help: Beth

Who said that you couldn't have bread, rice or pasta anymore? I think when you get to regular food you can have anything that you want as long as you have some protein with your carbs and don't drink with your meal and only eat until you are full. I would think that those carbs are so dense (especially pasta) that it wouldn't take much to fill you up. But I don't think they are no no's forever. I am eating toast now and I am not having any problems. My dietian said that toast was better than just bread. It was less dense. I am finding by reading the different sites on here that doctors all have different opinions on what to do before and after surgery. I think it is interesting to read them all. Beth

Yes that was a slip. I meant to say fill me up. I am glad you caught that. I am on soft foods now and I learn from my doctor that I am not suppose to drink Water 30 minutes before I eat of drink for 30 minutes after I eat. That makes me feel full. I am not one that can eat much without water so I am feeling full sooner so maybe I will lose some weight this time. Does anyone know where to get sugar-free or fat-free frozen yogurt? I can't seem to find it and I love cold things. Thanks Beth -
Just remember that you must NOT drink anything during your meal. You are supposed to wait 30 minutes after your meal before you drink and don't drink 30 minutes before your meal. I wasn't doing this and I got reprimanded for it. Question: Can a big sneeze do any damage to my port? I just sneezed awhile ago and ever since then I have sharp pain in my port site. Could I be concerned. Thanks for your response. Beth

Well I went to my dr. for my 2 wk visit today. He told me that I was doing everything wrong. I didn't understand about not drinking Water at the same time as I ate. When it was explained to me I now understand the lack of weight loss. I am trying to do it right now. He also told me that I can't have a fill for 4 more weeks. Bummer. OH well I guess I have to follow his instructions. I guess it is a learning process. I also found out that it was not my port that was hurting but just some muscle on the same side as my port. I guess that is good to know. Overall it was a good appointment. I learn alot. What I did when I was just starting with the Protein Drinks I would take a little Dixie cup and maybe every hour or so I would fill it with the drink and drink it and then my the end of the day I had it all drunk. Now what I do is add Peanut Butter to it and drink it in halves. Half in the morning and half in the evening. It seems hard to fit everything in in a one day period. Well I hope that helps someone that is having problems getting there Protein drinks down. Good luck to all those having surgery this week. I promise that it does get better everyday. God bless, Beth:biggrin1:

What is pd? I read it alot and don't know what you guys are talking about. I go to the doctor tomorrow for my 2 week check up. I have already started eating mushies and I hope that is OK with him. How long do I have to drink Protein supplements? They are a nuisence.(sp?) I can't wait to get a fill so I will feel full. I don't feel banded at all except for the pain at the port site. I am so excited for all of you that have done well and have had successful surgeries. It really isn't all that bad. I hope I keep losing weight even though I feel like I am eating more than I should and that I get a fill soon so I will stop eating so much and feel full. Beth

How long do I have to wait to get a fill? I was banded on July 12th and just started on soft foods. I don't feel full and I seem to be hungry more than I thought I would.
