I have struggled with my weight all my life and I don't know what is like to be a "height/weight proportionate".  I have tried losing weight in the past only to gain all of it back and then some.  I decided last year to look in to the lapband.  I went to my baratric doctor in sept 2008 to find out what he recommened and to get more info on the gastric bypass vs lapband. He recommended me to have the bypass but I was still uncomfortable with that idea.  I took the next 6months or so to try one last time to get the weight off but in the mean time I was going to my physician for weigh ins and to discuss my eating.  I was also diagnosed with diabetes in feb 2006.  April 2009 I decided to go back to my bariatric doctor and get this process on the road.  So, I submitted all the paperwork required by my insurance company (Humana PPO) and my doctor's office put the packet together and sent over to Humana.  I got approved in about a week.  After the approval, I got the rest of the clearances approved and the date of my surgery was set for June 30, 2009.  I'm now 3 days post op and so happy that I got it done.  I'm looking forward to being healthy and getting rid of diabetes which has been weight related.  I was also diagnosed while in the cardiac clearance with high blood pressure so I'm on medication for that too but my cardiologist said that she is very confident that after I lose all this weight I will have normal readings.  I can't wait. So now my lapband journey begins.....
