    Pllleeeaaaasssee help me!!!!

i was told prior to surgery to eat only 1 cup of food three times a ay--no snacks and no diet soda or caffine...so hungry or not i only eat what i was told--before the first and only fill i have had i did go to bed hungry a few times...it did not kill me!! i am still following the same regime--i find that if i eat the protein then fruit then veggies, i stay full and have no trouble with the snacking---also chew,chew,chew!!!......and rely on sugarfree popsickles!!!
  2. you have just been "diagnosed " with food allergies....just bring something you can eat to these affairs....and eat a little of whatever you can eat from the hostess food..becaue you are self concious you think everyone is watching you--they are really concerned with themselves and will hardly notice what you are or are not eating!!! you also can make yourself busy helping the hostess--takes up time away from the table. i also did not want anyone to know--mostly because i have failed at every diet for 50 years...40lbs and 4 sizes are gone now--and noone has said a word -good bad or indifferent!! do what is best for you...and the best of luck!!

    Diagnosed as diabetic---NOW WHAT?

you have probably been diabetic without knowing for a while...i was diabetic for quite a few years before being diagnosed--had xign that i chose to ignore--and a huge family history. one of the reasons i had the lapband is that i could no longer control my sugar level and the doc wanted to put me on 4 shots a day....i had a average of 300 before surgery--had an insulin shot just before surgery--sugar level was within normal the day of surgery and has been between 98 and 110 since the day of surgery on 6/13/06....while i will never be without diabetes--it is definately under very good control with this lifestyle change ,,just sorry i did not do it sooner...almost 60 years old and never have had a thin day in my adult life...down 40 lbs...and happy happy happy.....

Could you have succeeded without the band?

you need the lapbanders on your side---so here i go...old habits change hard--the band will keep you full and in constant reminder that you cannot overeat without consquences--your overeating and clean plate club days will be gone! how many diets have you been on in your life that you have succeeded on losing but not keeping the weight off?? your family will miss the old you who constantly entertained/baked/etc--now with a new life you will not live to eat--you will eat to live...my brother said how could you do this--well i did and i still have a social life and lots of time to do other things lke take care of myself--i am not constantly thinking abut/shopping for/preparing/stopping for food.....what a wonderful freedom--and i have control of my blood sugar/pressure..and easier mobility....the reasons fior this procedure are different for everyone...i wish i had done it sooner--i have been a fat chil/adolecent/adult all of my life--almost 60 yers...do what is right for you..we are here to support you decision.

    Typical Meal?

i was told by the doctor that every meal(3) should consist of not more than one cup of food and that the food should be high quality--no junk- protein not bigger than the size of a deck of playing cards,1/4-1/2cup well cooked veggies and fruit no larger portion than you get as a garnish in a resturant...no sugar/no fat but you may eat 3-4 teaspoons of fat a day---so try tuna/chicken/egg salad on high protein soy chips(available at trader joes) your portion should fill you before you can finish the cup of food---so stop and you won't pb we no longer belong to the clean plate club--and you can survive very nicely on 500-800calories a day----and chew chew chee chew .....and do it some more. I also eat with an infant utensil---small bites and 1/2 hour to eat--not more if you have spent this amount of timeand there is food left i am sure the dog would love it!! just drink between meals, no snacking--or grazing....and best of luck...check your thyroid activity for hair loss if you feel that you are taking in enough protein!!

    Whats up with me

cloe, i have a friend who has been in therapy as long as i have known her--40yrs. she still complains about the same things....the only conclusion i can come to is that she does not listen to herself or she would have seen the answers have to come from within...your joy and courage are in there somewhere with the thin body that will emerge if you just let it. the tests and lapband cost 43,000 and i am not going to let that money and time go to waste...every time you decide to binge----think about the decision you made and the time you have invested...banded 6/13/06 down 27lbs
