    Inches Vs Pounds

I do not weigh myself--don't own a scale--get weighed every 6 weeks at the doctor!! my clothes are looser...and thats good!! I recently had to get a new drivers licience--when handed the licience I glanced at the photo and thought they gave me someone elses licience--didn't even recognize myself LOL!! only 55 lbs to go!!
  2. I truely think that this is the biggest bull I have read in a very long time..are you among the living???At 19 you didn't have a voice--everyone on this board has gone through extensive testing and evaluations to get approved--and so did you....or you would not have had the band. So come clean and tell us all this was just to test our reactions!!!

    Help! Birthday Party!

you will be so busy serving etc that noone will notice you are not eating---but if you must..try tuna salad or chili...or just make yourself busy with a tall cool glass of some liquid you can drink while serving everyone else!! Good luck--remember you are not the main attraction at this party---and hardly anyone will notice you are not eating. If you must sit down w/the family just put you food on the plate and push it around--get up to do something and when you get back the food will be cold and you cn just chuck it or maybe the dog will accidently get a treat!!! lol!!

I was unfilled to take the horrid meds but now refilled and doing great!! an endoscope found the problem!! really thought I would lose my band --but all is well!! 55lbs from goal!! reflux and vomiting are GONE!!

    eating before a fill?

eating before a fill is not the problem!! It's eating after the fill thats the same old challenge--back to liquid/mushie for a few days!! I alway have my fill at 7am --clear liquids for the rest of the day...never had a fill after any food so don't have the answer as to food before the fill--will be looking for the answer also. Good question!! Glad you asked!!

    Lap Band Concerns

you will be able to have more children!! and probably an easier time getting pregnant!! food is not the only thing in life--your perspective changes...and you will be able to eat most things without any trouble-only smaller portions...as for the diabetes...I had this done because I was told the only way to get my sugar under control was to take insulin 4x a day...I had the lapband 6/13/06--no longer take any pills for anything!! 18 pills a day GONE!! as for the hanging skin--its not to bad and I probably at my age will not have ps. I only have one regret...that I didn't do it sooner!! I missed out on a lot raising my kids--couldn't move and was very tired all the time!! Hope this note spurs you on to great decisions...and encourages you to move ahead w/lbs know that we are behind you !!!

To Tell or Not To Tell...

don't bother--the outside world (those people who I saw LAST year on the 4th of July) thought I just got a new haircut!! So much for casual aquaintences--I lost over 100 lbs!! Just shows that you are only the bride at your own wedding!! Those who care about you will know/ask--the others just forget about!!

just lie down for a quick face lift! LOL!

    Fear of Being Thin...

I have lost a significant amount of weight-over 100lbs in the past year.....I recently over the 4th of July saw many people who have not seen me since my banding....they all thought I had a shorter hair-do....so much for weightloss!! I did it for me and my health but it does go to show one of my favorite phrases is true.....YOU are not the bride at the wedding!! Noone really focusing on you or what you have done or not done--it is mostly your own image that guides you decisions!! Best of luck to all of you who are on the journey to self improvement!!

    tell me more

I too was hesitant--went to the band doc that my internist sent me to...just for info! Well I was treated like, if you want to do it--make up your mind and get started!! That was the end of March--surgery was 6/13/06 I only have one regret--I did not do it sooner...over 100lbs gone and so is all the meds (18 of them) don't worry about the nitty gritty like band size-the doc decides that when he is inside--but yolu have to be willing to make the life style commitment--without it its a no go!! the band is only a tool!! Best of luck---and an easy insurance approval!!

    Hamburger

If you can get a regular burger down--more power to ya!! My doctor told me I no longer have to be afraid of food--the quantity is small and the chewing is LOOOOONG so eat according to the plan and eat what agrees with you ( I found out its no longer Chinese for me LOL!)

    NSV's

I couldn't figure out why I had such a hard time starting my car....couln't push the clutch in far enough...duh! HAD TO MOVE THE SEAT UP!! I have gone to tight 4x-5x to an 18--boy am I surprised!! as for not changing sizes quickly--the clothes were tight stretch to start with--so no mater how much I lost I was in a size a long time. Now at regular sizes in a real store I am xl/18...I do most of my shopping at resale shops--not going to give one more penny retail if I can help it!!!LOL!!
  17. sweetviolet

What weight for regular size clothing??

my goal was to shop in thrift stores--after all if they are worn, they have already shrunk!! Last week I went to Villiage Discount (AMVETS) here in Chicago...bought size 18 and al fit--6pr slacks (tommy Hilfinger/jones oif ny/and talbots reg) and 6 blouses....xl/1x--very loose!! I am 5'7" and 240lbs--banded 13jun,2006 loss of 103.5 lbs so far...never ever thought it would happen!!
  18. sweetviolet

    No liquids while you eat???

  20. I am a travel agent...fare is 385.78....don't worry about the next guy for the short ride--they and you will survive. Book an aisle seat and happy flying--if you need more room the airline will move you to a different seat!! DO NOT DRIVE please...and best of luck!!

    June 2007 Bandsters

to all the June 2007 bandsters...bless yourself NOW for deciding to this for yourself!!!! Even my Doctor...who does mostly bypass could not beleive I had lost over 100 lbs my first year out--he was going for 90lbs in 18 months. I feel like a very happy poster child!! Never would I have dreamed of this success in a year--I am rooting for you all CHEERS!!!
  22. that huge mouthful of food is no longer availabloe to push that problem/emotion down with the food.....but while we a busy eating we don't have time or dsire to deal w/the problem--only to sooth with food...which I see from my 40/40 hindsight only adds another problem or two..like lack of respect from others, immobility...just to mention a couple. For me over 100lbs gone and so are a few people in my life who found that they could'nt run my life to their benefit!! It is a wonderful feeling not to be trapped in a body that would not and could not move...and to be free from meds!! There seems to so much more time in my life now that I am not a constant slave to shopping/planing/cooking/eating/cleaning up after meals...OH HAPPY DAY

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

please add me to the list!! 101lbs on my bandiversary Jun 13,2007 happy to be amongst the 100 plus losers...but happier that I no longer take 18 pills a day!!

    I'm Hungry

eat more protein!! then wait a few minutes till your brain can catch up with your stomach--you should be eating 1 cup of food per meal in a 1/2 hour timespan....remember not to eat with your eyes-but your stomach capacity....I know thats hard--but it is what we USED to do...new rules/new life!! good luck.
  25. your nutritionist is off the wall--thats 6lbs a week--does she expect you to run marathons or what?? In general MOST people miscalculate their intake...this could be the case!! You might want to try a program..generally even they give a 2-5lb weight loss per week--still below your goal!! At over 300 lbs you might stand a chance of losing more because of the water weight in the first weeks. go to the websight NeverHungry.tsfl.com and see if this is a program you might like to try. I took off 30lbs in 8 weeks with is program this winter--it was measured, portable, easy and tasted ok!! Let me know if I can do anything more to help you !! an GOOD LUCK
