while I agree with much of what you have said, one cannot focus on just a number--my goal is to live long enough to be an aggravation to my cchildren..and at 60 I was dying...literally!! I have lost 113lbs and now take no pills...as for excrcise..my 2 broken ankles and need of a total ankle replacement do not let me excersice..I do swim as often as I can....given all that, I would just like to weigh what I did in high school...180....and that will be coming along soon. If my body goes lower by not changing the way I eat, so be it. Everyone has do do whats right for themselves--and attain one goal at a time!!

What do you tell people at work
sweetviolet replied to ghostbuster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I only work with one other person for the last 18yrs....I did finially tell her...for anyone who sees me now and asks how I lost all that weight (111lbs) I tell them "day by day"--which is true!! For the rest of the world, other than close family and friends, its none of their business and I would not really add to my life or theirs with an explanation!! Thats not to say if someone asked for my help or opinion, I would not help!! Idle chit chat about life changes are fruitless....you really have to make up your own mind and BE READY to take action!! -
HELLO, any oldies out there? I'm almost 63 and want to live.
sweetviolet replied to FatAttack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh my!!! when will doctors and medical insurances realize that with or without the band we will be getting older??? And without the lapband -SICKER- with a higher rate of payout for maintaining that sick OLD body??? hummmmmmm..... -
Anyone else have trouble with excessive vomiting?
sweetviolet replied to sdakotaRN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
check to see if you have H-Pylori.....it is a common bacteria that reeks havoc for anyone with a band!!!! You need to have an endoscope to find out--if so a course of antibiotics...well worth the effort!! Usually one course of treatment is needed for your entire lifetime!!!! Good luck! -
the surgery was 16,000---the tests were more!!! and don't forget about the time, enengy, gas, and last but not least the parking fees!! Welll worth the effort...down 111lbs!! 52 to go.....the only thing however that has changed is the size of my clothes!! The rest of me was ok--just the packaging was a bit bulky!!! Of course I have the same experiences and bad tastes as everyone else...but apparently the wollowing was kept at bay--I had to many other things to do other than listen to others peoples opinions....my mother died when I was 17--raised my siblings, got an education, married, raised a family/worked...and to cope...I ATE!! Thank G-d for the band!! It is NOW that I have to decide what creative things I have to do with my extra time now that I don't spend every minute shopping/making/putting away FOOD!!! Oh what tangled webs.....guess I will go knit and hold the new grandbaby!!!

had this problem--had H-Pylori...a bacteria that lives in an acid environment...had to take out the fluid/have an edoscope for biopsy/take a course of meds(AWFUL) for 10 days and now all is well. The H-Pylori is the bacteria that causes ulcers...all is well now but it was HELLLLLLL!!!!!! H-Pylori is a bacteria that 70 percent of the worlds population has--and it now MAY be bothering you!!! Check it out!!

if you live near a Trader Joe, it has many gourmet frozen items that can be made to fit our needs without forfitting flavor...;.much better customize these foods than to use prepared dinners that have too much salt and often taste like cardboard. I have found myself reading cookbooks more than ever!! Ironic, don't ya think?? We now eat so little, that even the rich recipes are within our reach--and customized with lower fat/sugar ingredients we can get great flavor and not miss a thing!! Thanks for the recipes--I have enjoyed the read---and the great tastes when preparing them myself (crab cakes/latte).

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
sweetviolet replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!! I also have lost over 100lbs--banded 6/13/06. Hardly seems possible...doc told me going out that he expected a 60 pct loss of my excess weight in 2 years...only have 54lbs to go and have lost the 60pct in less than 14months. He really would have preferred to do gastric bypass...he does more of them...but I refused!!! My sister had gastric bypass and has had nothing but trouble...and a cousin who had the bypass has regained most of the weight he lost...and told me to have the bypass while he was sitting in the kitchen w/surgical drains hanging out of his body!! NOT appealing!! My only regret is not doing it sooner!! No longer take 18 pills a day!! .....then end is harder than the beginning!!! OLD habits die hard.....but the rewards are many!! (like 124/70 blood pressure instead of pills @ 240/160!!!) Thank G-d for the lapband and the doctors who install them and to all of you out there on the board who are a constant inspiration and "fall back" as to whats going on in the rest of the world--we get so involved in our own endevors, its nice to know we are not alone!!! THANX!!! -
Negative Feedback from Family & Loan lenders
sweetviolet replied to Maizenut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG don't let your folks do this to you!!! You can and will find a way to have the band--they are critical fat--they will be critical thin....do what is best for you and do it NOW...my only regret is that I did not do it sooner ....best of luck to you!!! -
Your most embarrassing fat moment (sad, funny, pathetic, turning points)

sweetviolet replied to bitteroldhag's topic in Rants & Raves
I am 60...my mother died at 39....my father at 72....from where I am standing....everything is JUST FINE!! -
as a professional travel agent for 18 yrs in the same office, I will advise you that February is a no no--to many holidays that are taken advantage of by teachers--presidents day/valentines day. oh and don't forget thanksgiving/xmas....and don't forget fall break and the Jewish holidays....you MUST book air at least 6-8monthes in advance and there are very few if any that give group rates--they don't need too!!!! I suggest everyone who wants to go gets their own airfare and stay in a hotel that is just off strip...they have good transportation and the price will be right!! Any more question?? Feel free to send me a pm...Pam

Is Lapband Removal Dangerous?
sweetviolet replied to white rabbit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
check to see if you have h-pylori....not rare but overlooked!! Bacteria that lives very well in an acid environment and easily cured but you need to have an edoscope to find it--give the band a chance/rest if h-pylori is not the problem--yes you can have band removed but then you will be in the same place you were before lbt!! Is that what you really want?? -
Feet horrible?? YES!! Drink more water!! Flushes out the system...I didn't believe it but it works!!
-
we lost our swwet Angie on April 9th---said no more dogs!!! LOL!! all the animals posted here are adorable..enjoy!!

HELLO, any oldies out there? I'm almost 63 and want to live.
sweetviolet replied to FatAttack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
had the surgery at 59--now 60 and have a weight loss of over 100 lbs--my whole family was fat--mother @ 310 ...father @ 350. mother died at 39...father at 72- just had my first grandchild...my goal is to be an aggravation to my children and to spoil the grandchild rotten and give him back to his mother to deal with!!!! Whether you do the surgery or not you will get older ( if the fat doesn't kill you!) START NOW...you will not be sorry!! -
Liquids, Liquids, Liquids!!!
sweetviolet replied to REDGIRL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
because you do not much to lose it will take you longer--but its great you are giong through with the band before it is any worse!! Good for you!!!! I agree with not pleasing those work women--I have lost over 100 lbs and still have 55 to go!! Protien is the answer!! This forum is the perfect place to find accurate info----PLEASE follow the rules your doc sets up--we all don't need any more drama in our lives!! Hard enough to make the decision to have lap-band let alone put ourselves in harms way by not following the guidlines...and BEST of LUCK You can do it!!!! -
How is weight loss for people over 50?
sweetviolet replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
old habits die very hard....I have had a battle with food for about 10 weeks now as I have gone through tests/diagnoses/scans/uptakes/biopsy and finally a nuclear radiation treatment for what the doctors determined as Graves...a problem with an overactive thyroid. I am happy to say it is over as of last Monday as I have been treated and hopefully all willbe well...but it did not stop me from wanting/craving chocolate eclairs--thank G-d I couldn't find a good bakery to buy them so I slid by--but it would have been my answer to shoving down the feelings I was having over this whole issue--how dare my body betray me after I have lost over 100lbs!!!! Those old thought and patterns are hard to change--and even w/ the band I probably would not have been too sucessful shovling them down but the desire was OVERWHELMING!! The condition made me feel very anxious....as if my plate were so full I couldn't have walked one more step...I thank you all for this support and the forum to express whats on our minds without judgement.... -
NOONE is alone in this feeling--we always want what we think we don't have...I keep reminding myself that I am not on 18 pills a day--the looking better is a side gift!! I recently had a new photo taken for my drivers liciense and thought they gave me the wrong photo w/ my info!! ......and I am no different on the inside, nothing has changed except my clothing size...my thoughts/fears/concerns/opinions/concept are the same!! Guess if I want any or all of those things to change, I will have to adress THOSE issues. Life is a constant adjustment....

please try not to drink until about 1 to 1 1//2 hours after eating-0-you are washing the food out of the pouch into the lower stomach. I was told from the beginning to eat 1 cup of food three times a day--no snacking.....inbetween I drink anything I please, mostly no or low calorie. NEVER in my wildest dreams did I think I could do this!! Down over 100lbs!! Banded by Woody Denham ENH on 6/13/06
