I've always been funny. I think because if they are laughing with you, they have a hard time laughing at you. I've been making people laugh so long I'm not sure I can stop, or if I want to. I've often wondered if I had been skinny would I have developed the same personality! Patty

1. Wear knee high boots (seems to be a common thread) 2. Shop anywhere I happen to be. 3. Fit into roller coasters 4. White water rafting 5. Fly without worrying about being charged for extra seat at the gate. 6. Be able to sit anywhere in our boat and still have it plane out properly 7. Have the energy to go out and do things on weeknights 8. get hit on by straners 9. get all the skin, pulled, tacked, and stapled 10. Not have people I assume I'm stupid and lazy:cursing:

I'm tentatively scheduled to be banded on 8/7/09. Since I am self pay, and going to Mexico I do not have to jump through many hoops. I finally decided yesterday that banding was the way to go. I do have to do a high prot low carb for 3 weeks prior to surgery. I have a lot of support, but don't feel they really understand what I feel right now...so I came to ya'll. I'm petrified!!! It's not so much the surgery, it does scare me a little. It's not so much that I am doing it in Mexico, as I have researched this dr extensively and the facility. It's more.....what if this is another failure!! If I can't stick to a diet and lose it on my own.....how will being banded change that. Don't get me wrong... I am commited to the whole process. I just can't get my brain to shut down. On the other hand I am totally excited at the all the prospects that lay before me. All the new clothing, the new lifestyle, the new me! I know this will be no walk in the park....it's going to be hard....I want to be up to it....I'm just not sure I am! These feeling so contrast each other that I litterly want to start heaving. Also, I seem to be on a "let's eat this because we are never going to be able to eat it again!!!" This can not be healthy!!!:tongue2: Thanks For Listening Patty FYI just a little info.. current weight 342 height 5'5".

So how come 6 to 8 thousand??? In my area it runs 15 thousand. That's why I am going to Mexico!

I think June has hit the nail on the head. All we know is failure. It's hard to wrap our heads around success. I think success can be a little scary. I've often wondered if being thin would change "me". I'm a natural flirt.....If I had better self esteem would I stop there? I'm married so I would, but it makes you stop and think. Take a deep breath you are going to be fine!!! Hugs, Patty

Hang in there Momma! It's going to get better. I was so crabby last night, and my husband was in the mood to playful pick at me. The whole "I'm not touching you is so childish to begin with...but last night I wanted to break the finger that wasn't touching me. I too typically weigh everyday, and I know that it is not a good idea. Yet, I do it anyway. I am really going to start trying to do it once a week. I have been preop for 5 days and lost 12 pounds which puts me at 330. I know that pace cannot continue as a lot of it was Water. However, my secretary told me today, "You look different". I told her it was either cause I was rested from vacation, or because I lost 12 pounds. I thought they were gonna call Washington! They jumped around high fiving each other. I though if this is what happens every time I lose a pound, we are not going to get much work done this year. Secretly, it made me feel really good. I think I'm willing to sacrifice those I must kill in order to be thin? Who really needs two kids! LOL Patty -
I'm kind of new to this board stuff and just found your message by mistake. I would love to go through this together. I am so excited. I've even started buying a few clothes a size or two smaller. Not a lot just a blouse here and there, a couple of t-shirts while we were on vacation last week. I hung them in my closet as a goal, a motivator, and reward! I have two kiddos girl 19 and boy 15. Can't wait to get this ball rolling!

I'm so thrilled for you. Glad it all worked out! Now we are just counting the days. -
I found some bullion cubes today at walmart. One was cilantro flavored, the other was chipolte. I boiled some low fat low sodium chicken broth and added one of each to it. Wow, it was good. Had a real kick to it! I'm sure it's more sodium than I need everyday, but it did give me the flavor boost I was looking for to get through today. I even boiled some squash for my family and add the chipolte one to the Water. They loved it! Something to consider when you get to the liquid/full liquid stage and need a bit of a flavor booster. I think a weekly weigh in is an awesome idea. Can't weight to be banded! On a positive note I started my preop yesterday and lost 5 pounds? I drank all my water and spent the day in the bathroom!

My surgen uses the Allergan (sp). I can't say that it matters to me one way or the other. I've heard (gossip) that 99.9 percent of slippage is caused by not following the rules! I don't know if that's true or not, but I plan to take no chances. If I am going to go to this extreme to be healthy, why would I chance it trying to eat a food that is known to cause trouble and possible slippage! Patty

My surgeon is only requiring 10 days high solid protien diet very low carb and low fat. Which sounds similar to the adkins I have tried in the past. I myself am choosing to do it for 3 weeks prior. Patty

Jason, Congrats on your weight loss. I give you a hardy clap of hands for going to the gym. I hate the gym. It's not the gym so much as the "going" to the gym. When I get off work I want to go HOME! My hubby is looking around for some gym equipment that won't break the bank and turning a spare bedroom into a gym for me! He's a sweetie. A real sweetie...he bought me a very nice treadmill once before, for me to hang clothes on. We gave it away. Now he's wlling to do it again! What a man! Patty

What are you all doing to pass the time??? We leave on vacation on Friday and will return the 24th. I have to start my preop diet, which for my dr is high solid Protein, low fat, low carb. I'll have to start it on the 20th while we are on vacation. When I get back I'll have a coulple of weeks to wait, and am trying to set up things to do to keep me distracted. One cool thing I am going to do is go through the 5 or 6 totes of clothes that I own that no long fit. I'm going to discard (donate) the ones that I don't like or are worn. The rest I am going to sort by size in one of my spare closets. It will be exciting everytime I get to move into a new size. I'll be able to see what essentials I'll need while I'm in that size, and what I already have! I'm also scheduling so time with friends to do stuff that doesn't include eating. We get together from time to time and make jewelery. I have scheduled a time for us to get together and organize our stuff. Any other ideas out there? I'll go crazy just sitting and waiting! Patty

I guess me next. My name is Patty, like most who find their self doing lapband I have tried it all. Nothing worked. I was above average weight in High School and have steadily gained. Previously, I could handle my weight...I'm kinda tall, so I "carried it well". However, I lost my mom November 2008 and have since put on about 50 lbs. These last 50lbs have aged me 10 years. I hurt, I can't move, I'm miserable, and cant seem to stop the gain. My Dr and I have a very good relationship, and she bodly told me lose it or die! I would really like to see my future grandkids grow up! I am scheduled August 7, 2009 with Dr. Rodriquez in JZ Mexico. I'm excited and a little scared. I'm not scared of the surger, just that I'll be that small percentage that has a slip or something and the band will have to be removed. I hope this forum grows and remains very active. We are all going to need each other in the coming weeks and months. My current weight is 342. Patty

OK, Who has an AUGUST surgery date??!!
lotusflwr replied to Jodi73's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I have researched it extensively. I'm actually more comfortable having it there than locally. It is a brand new state of the art hospital. The surgeon has performed over 6000 bands, and taught many US dr's the procedure. Patty -
They changed my date
lotusflwr replied to marji1018's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be devastated as well. I don't think your being silly at all. This is a momentous thing you are doing. You have to psych yourself up for all that is about to happen. Take a deep breath, it's going to be okay. Six days seems like an eternity, but find something to do to fill the time. Take on a small project...clean closets, volunteer, etc. My thoughts are with you...I am scheduled for 8/7/09 and it seems like forever away! Patty -

I'm new here, but girl!!! Huge difference! I thinks sometimes we look through our "fat" glasses when we look at ourselves. Lay the pics side by side. Start by looking at the new definition in the face, and neck area. Then scroll down the body. There is a huge difference even if the shirt is big! You rock on girl!!! I'm proud for you! -
Closer all the time....but still a ways to go

Congratulations! Truely Inspirational! -
I am scheduled to be banded on 8/7/09. I am going to Juarez Mexico and going through Belite. Due to my very high BMI I have to start the PreOp diet three weeks prior to the surgery. Which means I have to start it right in the middle of our vacation to Colorado. Anyone have any suggestions on travel food? I'm kinda at a loss! Thanks, Patty
