Well, Water would be the only thing any better and you don't get any caloric value or Protein from WATER. You are doing just fine as far as it not being fattening. You have to have calories and these are GOOD calories. If you have 3 shakes a day you are getting the bulk of your protein from the shakes with only minimal calories. Good luck and hang in there! I had a shake this morning for Breakfast. banded 071506 Monterrey, Mexico www.litenfree.com 335 high/242 current/150 goal

The EAS AdvantEdge drinks are the best I have found so far. The already mixed only have 17g protein but sometimes it's worth it for the convenience.

Bottom line, if it hurts don't do it!!!! There is a difference between good pain (muscles building) and bad pain around the port. I was banded July 15, 2006, and still sometimes have issues with my port when I am doing ab workouts, especially crunches. If you are really short waisted (which I am) this can also cause pain. I literally felt like that my port was getting stuck in my ribs. It still happens from time to time but you learn to work around the issue. Talk to your doc....and listen to your body. banded 071506 Monterrey, MX Lite´n Free 335 high /317 pre op/244 today!!!!! 91 lbs down

3 Questions - I'm considering getting banded.
Lap princess replied to jasgot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been reading the forum posts for about three days now, and have not seen many comments on a few items. I am looking for some comments that may help me with my descision. 1) Is anyone having success with the band restrictions only, meaning no real excercise regime. I have time to walk a couple of times a day, but no time to go to a gym. Walking is the best overall exercise around. You don't have to go to the gym to work out and if you are like me you don't want to for a variety of reasons. You have to exercise to continue with the loss. The first few months I didn't have to exercise to lose but there came a point that I had to. 2) How soon did you go back to work? Do you think you could have gone back to work sooner? To a desk job? I had surgery on Saturday and went back to work a week after surgery to a desk job. I had 7 incisions instead of the normal 4 and that may have added to my time healing. 3) Has anyone regreted this surgery? How many reversals are you aware of? I don't regret having the surgery at all. One of my friends had her band removed after she lost over 200 pounds. She needed to because she was having mental issues dealing with the band. (i.e. expecting to vomit after she ate) The only problem with having the band removed is possibly gaining back the weight. Best of luck! Thanks. I appreciate your candor and honesty. J. -

You are doing fine with the weight loss! Are you eating enough Protein to keep you from being hungry? If not, you will over eat and not lose. I know you are not quite a month out of surgery so you are probably still on mushy stuff and liquids for the most part. Try a protein shake (I drink EAS AdvantEdge carb control that has 17 g of protein and only 110 calories) and that should help. (fish, eggs & chicken are real good sources of protein too) With the band you still have to make a concentrated effort to watch what you eat and exercise. Walking is the best exercise you can do at this point. I was banded 071506 and didn't have my first fill until 012307. I may have waited a little too long but I was still consistently losing until about a month before my fill. Up the protein and start an exercise program if you haven't already. Lap banding is not a cure all, it's simply a tool to help us get from Point A to Point B. Keep up the good work! :clap2: high: 335 lbs pre-op: 317 lbs now: 252 lbs goal: 140 lbs banded Monterrey, Mexico Dr. Garcia www.litenfree.com -

What reason did you give your job for being out of work?
Lap princess replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was able to keep my LBS a secret until I got back in the states. I didn't want my co workers trying to talk me out of having surgery in Mexico, putting in their 2 cents worth, etc. I work in a small office and everyone knows everyone's business but I think once mine was out in the open it was much better for me. My eating habits have changed drastically and people would have noticed that at least. My boss had to know because I was going to be off work for a few days (I ended up taking a whole week off! Seven incisions vs. the regular four....) and he was real understanding. Tell your co workers if you want to but they are going to find out when you start dropping weight and your eating habits are different. banded 071506 Dr Garcia, Monterry, Mexico www.litenfree.com 335 highest 317 pre op 288 today (My one month anniversery!) 145ish goal -

Dody~ We'll all hang in there and get healthy. I didn't even notice your age and haven't even found it now.....I'm feeling kind of ditzy. I had my surgery in Monterrey, Mexico, and was just not prepared for the language barrier, etc. The care was fine but not being able to tell someone what is wrong, where it hurts, etc, really took a toll on me. I responded to you because in my worst pain all I could do was pray....and I did loudly and crying most of the time! I may have scared the nurse.... peace in God, Lori

I was banded last Saturday on the 15th of July. Each day gets better & better, I promise. I wanted to die the first 2-3 days. I had never had pain like I was having. I ended up having 7 incisions instead of the basic 4 and I am really short waisted so that doesn't help any. If it makes you feel any better my third day out they still had me in the hospital. I am now 6 days post op and feeling better each day.
