  1. I was banded on 10/9 and am still on full liquids but I just discovered Progresso chicken cheese Enchilada soup....OMG I love it.

It is easy to digest for the full liquid stage but I can imagine it becoming a side for the mushy stage with refried Beans and cheese - or adding it to mashed potatoes would be yummy too - how about using it as a base for building a thicker stew.

I love it - it is low carb and high protein!!

  2. I had surgery on 10/9/2009. I am at day 2.5 post-op and feel pretty good. Two days of Clear liquids and now this evening, I had some cream of chicken Soup (thinned with chicken broth) and it was a little sip of heaven!!!

I have not been hungry at all - I worry that I am not getting enough Protein and liquids -- surely my ability to drink will increase as I begin to feel better. Everything goes down easily - I am just having trouble remembering to drink....

So far, I am thrilled to have this chance at a new beginning!!! My surgery was uneventful and everyone at the hospital (St. Francis Topeka KS) was wonderful. Very mild discomfort. Biggest problem right now - sinus drainage causing coughing....

Let me know how everyone else is doing! Share any good high Protein Soup ideas -- I have 2 weeks of full liquids to work through:)

  3. Hey All,

Had my surgery yesterday! All went well. I didn't have a great deal of pain - liquid tylenol took care of my discomfort. I am on Clear Liquids for the first 2 days and then on full liquids for 2 weeks.

I don't feel hungry at all and I haven't eaten (any real food) for about 2 days now. I am concerned about getting enough Protein - so tomorrow plan to start the Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes two ounces every 2 hours.

I was on a limited diet for about 10 days prior to surgery and lost about 10 lbs -- I am thinking I will probably lose more during this first phase.

I just helped my son make a small homemade pizza for him and his cousin and it didn't drive me crazy to smell it....

  4. I have a surgery date!!! October 9, 2009:smile: I am so excited and a little nervous but so ready to begin this new journey....

So after my primary insurance company approved the surgery, I thought that was pretty amazing...then I got a phone call from my secondary insurance company today saying they were happy to tell me that they are going to approve my surgery. AND they plan to call me after the surgery to check on me to see how I am feeling....isn't that amazing.....

    I really am feeling blessed!!!!

  5. YEAH - I have my first appointment with the surgeon on July 28 -- I am so ready to be a part of the banded club! I have talked with my insurance and they said it is a covered procedure (awesome)! I have had my psych eval and eventually I am not completely crazy - she approved me for the surgery:)

What happens at the first appointment? What's the average time frame for a surgery date after that first appointment?
