Went in yesterday He said I had 8.2 in but decided to pull it all out since I am getting close. When he pulled it out he could only draw out 7.1. He said it happens all the time with the realize band but didn't feel like I had a leak. Anyone else have this happen?

to me any more than 0$ is a rip off. Just a profit center for them. My Doctor did not charge one.

how big of bites do you take?
gbakerc replied to harliquinn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting restriction now and struggle with bite size. My biggest struggles are when we are put to eat with our toddler. I tend to woof down the food so that we can deal with her. I then tend to get stuck. I find that unless I pay close attention that I get stuck. I think that eating slow is the key. -
I'm somewhat concerned.

I just scheduled fill #5 I have 8.2 cc in a 9cc band. I am getting close but not there yet. I had 3 out of the 4 under flouro so they were pretty aggressive. I lost 35 quickly and have lost the other 10 over the course of 3 months. It is a long process and I wouldn't fret it too much until you get restriction. -
What are your doctor's rules for after a fill?
gbakerc replied to adagray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
full liquids for 48 hours. Mushies for 48 hours and then solid foods. Greg -
I would highly doubt that you have erosion. The symptoms you describe of not having restriction are usually just that. You don't have restriction. I have 8.2 in a 9cc band and have a minimal amount of restriction after 4 fills. 3 under flouro. it takes time and usually a number of adjustments to get there. I see tons of great info on this board but if you read enough of it you can convince yourself of anything. greg

I feel like I'm overeating.
gbakerc replied to abi516's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds to me like you are making pretty good food choices. An occasional cookie is a necessity in my opinion. My philosophy is that you do the best you can until you reach restriction and you will be fine. I was banded 9/23 and am still struggling to get proper restriction. Keep your chin up and it will happen. Greg -
Banded Living - Do you bend the rules?
gbakerc replied to atgoalgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never break the rules. I have just convinced myself that Resees cups are mushies. Find it tough as of late. I may as well paint a 40 on my scale. as I have kept my weight loss at that point for a few months. I am almost at good restriction and I eat pretty well but I find motivation waning as of late. I am seriously considering joining weight watchers to get myself back on track. GReg -
Hard to say. I had 4 fills to this point. 3 under flouro. It always looks tight after he is done. I know I have some restriction as I slimed for the first time yesterday morning after a small bite of a peanut butter cracked. I am tight in the morning and more loose by night time. My problem comes with what I eat. I struggle to focus on solid protein if things are mushy potatoes beans I can eat a bunch. The key to me being full is eating very slow. If i eat slow I find I eat much less

Once you have at least some level of restriction 1200 calories per day is ok. try that for a lifetime without the band and I think it would be struggle. Many get frustrated because it doesen't melt off. My loss has been slow at about 40 pounds in 5 months but I am not discouraged. Once you can come to grips with the fact it is a long process the easier it will become. We didn't wake up one day obese and it won't come off overnight. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will happen. Greg

I have realize band as well. 5.5 first fill and another 2.7 over the course of the next 3. I am close but not quite there yet. Though I don't have total restriction I eat much less. I get them done under flouro so he can be much more agressive. Good luck. Greg

First fill this morning...do I?
gbakerc replied to BandedBeauty66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protocol from my surgeon is no solid food for 2 hours and no liquids for 30 minutes -
I see you have your blogspot e-mail address in there. you may want to edit your signature and put in the link to the website. If you click on it currently it redirects you to e-mail, Greg

happens to everyone. If I think about it enough I can convince myself that a resee cup is a mushy. just keep moving forward.

Due for 1st fill - what does it feel like?
gbakerc replied to BelindaLu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't use numbing. Seemed pointless as you are going to get stuck one way or another. Could make sense if your port is hard to find but mine is very easy to feel and he never missed. My doc puts it in and has you hold the syringe as you drink. about a 1 minute procedure. Very easy. Having it done under Flouro is a little different as you are drinking barium and have an audience. Either way it is a piece of cake. -
Very concerned....
gbakerc replied to BandedBeauty66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sounds like it may be irritated and swollen. dosen't sound like a slipped band or anything too serious. I would definitely approach it with your doctor. Most recommend sticking to liquids for a few days if you have a major "stuck" episode. -
not sure if I'm ready for a fill or not. thoughts from some veteran bandsters?
gbakerc replied to abbylamb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
a cup and a half is one cup more than my doctor recommends. Most recommend between 1/2 and one cup at a setting. I would get the fill -
he should only stop after you reach restriction. Otherwise the band is of little use

What would you do, if this happened to you?
gbakerc replied to jenrobbar951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your Dr. makes you wait 2 months for a reschedule then it appears to me he is not that interested in patient care. My doc will figure a way to get you back in several days later. If that is hwo he schedules things it makes it ough to be successful. Good luck, Greg -
I have a few questions, bear with me... :(
gbakerc replied to NYC_gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

To be or not to be...restricted
gbakerc replied to illuminationlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have restriction you should not PB or get stuck though it happens if you eat to big of a bite. I have limited restriction but get stuck if I take too big of a bite. If you stay away from obtaining restriction due to thinking you will be miserable it will make it tough to succeed. Good luck, GReg
