  3. I was banded on Nov. 22 of 08. Have lost about 45 pounds. It took me 6 fills to get where I needed to be. I've started exercising everyday so hopefully I can start losing more weight soon. My weight has been at a stand still for the past month. Frustrated but hanging in there!!

  4. I remember feeling that way!! I used to just go to bed early so that I could wake up one day closer to surgery!! Hang in there, it will be worth it soon! sabrina c

    Wow!

:thumbup:Wow, good job! Keep in mind that the weight loss will slow down soon. Mine did after the first few months. I lost an average of about two pounds a week the first couple of months. I have lost 45 pounds so far since my surgery in Nov. 08. It gets frustrating sometimes but hang in there. sabrina c

    have questions

I chose the lapband because I felt safer knowing that it could be removed if something happened. The bypass is not reversible. I hear that gb patients have a better chance of regaining the weight. Whatever you choose, it will be worth it. You'll feel like a million bucks with each pound that you loose. Best of luck. sabrina c

Life at Almost 3 Weeks After Banding...

Wow, 30 pounds? I had my surgery back in Nov. 08 and have lost 45 pounds. Be prepared soon to stop losing the weight as rapidly as you are now. That's when I kind of got discouraged. Hang in there and keep up the good work! sabrina c

    Week 31 Post Op

Sounds like you're keeping a positive attitude and that is what's really important. Some weeks you won't lose any weight but it's okay. Keep up the good work!

PAIN apple sauce and stomach pain, what?

The applesauce has fiber in it and fiber = gas!! Gas can cause a lot of discomfort. You will learn as you go what foods you will be able to eat and which ones bother you. It's a try and see process!! Good luck. FYI- drinking through a straw also causes gas.

    Can anyone eat grits?

I'm a "southern belle" and love my grits but my doctor told me that I wouldn't be able to eat them after surgery. Has anyone tried them? sabrina c

    What to do next?

Dance! Put on your favorite music and just dance. Dancing is a great form of exercise and you can do it in your home. I also have a stepper that I use to help get my heartrate up. It doesn't matter what you do or how long you do it. Any exercise is better than nothing!!

    Here goes nothing!

It takes a while to adjust to this whole process. I'm 8 months out from surgery and still have days where I wonder what I'm doing!! Don't worry, it will be worth it. The week or so after surgery will be trying so be prepared. The bad thing about laproscopic surgery is that they blow your stomach up with air to do the surgery. That's the worst pain you feel after surgery. It got trapped in my shoulder and I thought I was going to die!! It's not gas, it's air. You really can't do anything for it except wait for it to dissolve. They say walking helps but it didn't for me. It will only last for a day or so so hang in there. Once that has past you'll feel better. I wish you luck and hope to hear about your progress soon. sabrina c

    I am SOOOOOO agitated.

For discouraged banders: I'm 8 months out from my surgery and have lost 45 pounds (10 pre-op) I have been where ya'll are (frustrated and second guessing your decision). Heres how I look at it: I feel happy because I will never have to weigh as much as I did before the surgery AGAIN! I have hit a plateau and have not lost any weight for a month or so. I've started exercising and watching my sugar intake. Sugar seems to be my biggest ememy. It's a lifetime commitment. Take it one day at a time and hang in there! sabrina c

Episode 2 of "As The Band Turns"

Sounds like you're having a rough time. I also have a realize band that they thought was leaking at one time. A cat scan revealed that it wasn't. Thank God! Having the surgery sucks! This whole process is a lot harder than people realize. Hang in there! Best of luck. sabrina c

    First fill

:rolleyes2:It took me about 8 adjustments. Everyone is different. It was hard for me to adjust to the idea that it may take several adjustments to hit the "green zone". Just try to keep your eye on the prize and be patient. Best of luck to you. sabrina c

    I get my band today

:thumbup:Best of luck. Don't try to return to work too soon. Your recovery may take time. Follow the post op instructions they give you and you will be fine. Hope to hear about your progress. sabrina c

My doctor put me on an appetite suppressant, LMAO!!!

Girl, don't worry. It took 8 adjustments before I was able to feel any restriction. Patience is the key to overcoming this. You'll get there!!

    Getting Nervous!!

Everything will be fine! Be prepared to be sore and don't try to rush back to work. You will probably have extreme left shoulder pain. This is due to the air they use to blow you up for surgery. It's not like gas, it's trapped air and there's really nothing you can do except wait for the air to dissolve. They tell you to walk, blah, blah, but you really just have to wait it out. It sucks but it's all part of it. Also, don't be surprised if you can eat more than you thought you could. It took 8 adjustments for me before I felt restricted. Everybody is different but keep it in mind. I felt very frustrated during the band adjustment phase. Patience is the key to this and keep in mind that your weight loss will be slow. Best of luck! sabrina c
