Are there any complications with getting the band removed? My husband is on his 2nd band and it's just not working for him and he's starting to go throught the choking every night and throwing up after every meal. The band is just not for him and he has actually gained weight on the band so that is why I say it's not for him. Is it a struggle with insurance to have the band removed? Does anyone know what would allow them to have the band removed? I can't sit here and watch my husband struggle everynight - it's just not healthy for him to continue living this way and I need to help him get this thing removed. Any suggestions?

Anyone Else Have Nighttime Reflux Coughing Or Vomitting?
SamWaters replied to Bekah_GA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just wanted to get some information from anyones that had the band removed -- my husband is on his second band and it's not working, but even worse he's starting to wake up in the middle of the night choking. It's very scarey to see him go through this and I think we might be at the point in wanting to have this damn band removed. What kind of issues are there in having the band removed? It is a struggle with insurance, etc? Any info you can provide would be helpful. -
Has anyone had to put in an appeal with UHC? My husbands surgery was back in June 2009 and after appealing they are still denying out entire claim even though we were told by our doctors office that we were approved for the surgery. Has anyone had any bad experinces with UHC and can you offer any advise on how we can maybe fight this?

Hello - My husband had the lap band surgery in June 09 and at first dropped about 40 pounds but in the last 2 months or so has started to gain all the weight back and I'm truly amazed at how much food he can eat with the band in. Has anyone experinced this? He has gone back to get the fill but he never feels like it restricts him and he has told the doctors office this but I don't feel like they are making any changes to help him out. This is causing a lot of stress for him because he can eat so much and the band is not slowing his appetite down at all. Does anyone have any suggestions for us?

Has any one had any issues with United Healthcare not wanting to pay for the lap band? Hubby just had the surgery about 2 weeks ago and today we got a letter stating that they were not going to pay for the surgery. I'm kind of freaking out because before the surgery the Dr said this wouldn't be rejected so the thought of possibly having to pay for the surgery on our own never crossed our mind! We don't even have any idea of what the surgery costs. Anyone experience anything similar?
