  1. Hi everyone I have been looking at this site for about a week. I wanted to get some real opinons bad and good about the band. I have learned so much here I realy feel that I will soon be able to make a decision.I am so pleased to see how everyone encourages each other. I am going to a information session 1st of Aug. to learn more esp the facility.I have already called my ins. company they do cover the lapband if I am at 40 bmi. I am only 37 bmi I would have to gain 20 more lbs not wanting to do that. I have heard of being approved of if you have some other ailment. I have maligment high blood pressure very hard to control I take alot meds to keep it down. Well my stats are 5'10" 260lbs. I have battled my weight since i got married 13 yrs ago and I am usually around 220 but this past year I have gained 40lbs. I'm not sure how it happened and thats what scares me. My mom was morbidly obese nearly my whole life she had the bypass done 18 mths ago. Did not like what I seen especially the malnutrition part. I am 33 and I dont want to battle this for the rest of my life I want to get controll befor it goes to far and kills me. When I make my final dec. and I get some where with docs and ins I will post again. You guys are truly an inspiration to me. I used to think wls was the easy way out but now I see fighters in the battle of their lives and youre winning with the weapon you chose.
  2. KariK -I am not banded yet but I have breast fed for 6 yrs (3 kids) and as long as you dont feel drained and get lots of water you should be fine your body will take those fat cells and use them to make your milk suff. so you may lose a little faster. As far as the pain I imagine it will hurt dont know how old your baby is but if she is old enough to kick hard just back off alittle till you heal and resume back to normal after. Try laying down and feeding. After my 3rd child I had to feed like that some because I had a tubal and was in alot of pain and I could not hold him to much and feed. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  3. I am in the starting stages. I have already called once just to see if they would even consider. They do cover with bmi of 40. I tried to ask her if I had2 or more comorbs would they cover. I dont think she understood me. My bmi is 37 with high bp and chol. any info would be great so I will know what I am getting into.
  4. I have high cholesterol not to the extreme but enough to be on meds and extremely high blood pressure without meds it easily gets to 220/140. Some doctors couldnt beleive I wasnt dead already much less able to act normaly. I do have family history of just about evrything. I am though 100 lbs over weight. we will see in few weeks.
  5. I'm a newbie. From wayne co ga. A friend and I are going to memorial 1st wensday of august for the informational session. I hope to learn more there however I have read so much in the past 2 weeks I feel like a pro. Never thought I would consider any wls but I am getting desperate I have always stayed at 215-220 on a 5'10" frame I carried my weight very well. But this past year I have put on extra 40 lbs not to include those I've lost and gained back. I'm so fatigued and unmotivated to even move. Having 3 kids is a challenge for me and I want to be the mom that will go outside with them and play. Has anyone dealt with bc/bs ga? I have called them and asked if they will cover the Lb. They said yes if I was at 40 bmi. I'm not I'm 37 but I have maligment high blood pressure and without lots of meds my blood pressure is around 180/120 to 220/140 easy. I read that if you have 35bmi or more with another life threating disease you could get the Lb. Dont know if the ins com. agrees. I'm not much of a pusher not sure how I would react if I get turned down. Great site love the encouragement and true compassion for oneanother.
