Everyone always asks me what my defining moment was. It was at my brother's wedding. I had already been considering the lapband but just hadn't taken that plunge. My older brother was getting married and I went all out to look my best. I had my hair done and my nails and spent money on clothing, etc. I really thought I would look good. The wedding was a three day event. There were people from LA, New York, etc. All beautiful. There was so much bling I thought my eyes would pop out. At the wedding, the photographer kept avoiding me. There are 577 pictures and out of those, I am in one picture. I felt about 3 inches high after that weekend. That was the turning point in my life. I was so upset and aggravated with myself for allowing this to happen. I had been on required prescribed oral steroids for three years for a very bad skin condition and had been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for five years and the weight just kept packing on. I had gotten to the point that I just didn't care anymore because no matter what I did, I couldn't lose weight. I just continued to eat what I wanted and gain weight. I finally was able to come off of the steroids and that helped. It also allowed me to be banded. I just couldn't imagine what the band would do for me but now 80 pounds lighter I don't have to imagine any longer. I went from a size 26 to a size 10 now. With the band and my hard work I am happier than I have been in a very long time.
