I would call the insurance company and try to get someone to tell you what the exact requirements are. All insurance companies require something different and they aren't always forthcoming with the guidelines. I couldn't get anyone to tell me at my insurance company to tell me our guidelines. I found someone on this forum with the exact same insurance and she has helped me a lot!!! Just remember where there is a will there is a way! Best of luck to you I hope it works out!!

I am doing my six month supervised visit and I am just wondering is that six appointments or six full months from the first appointment and seven appointments? I have tried to call my insurance company and ask them and they are not very forthcoming with info. Thanks!

Thank you all so much for your input it is very helpful! I am ready to be done with the six month diet but I have to admit it has given me a lot of time to research and learn more about the band!

I know exactly how you feel. I am still in my 6month diet phase. But, every fall we take a huge family trip me, my kids, my husband, my brothers and their families, and my parents. We usually go to Disneyland but this year they put it up for debate between Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farms. I am so worried I will be outvoted at Disneyland all the rides are pretty much boats anyone can fit in them I am afraid I won't be able to sit in anything at Knott's. Of course other people don't understand or even think about that and I don't want to just say "I can't go my ass won't fit in anything." LOL Hopefully I will get approved at the end of my 6 month diet and this will never be an issue again! Good luck to you!!!

I am thinking about purchasing a policy through bc/bs, the ppo plan. I was wondering if anyone else out there has done this and if the band surgery was covered. I can't call until Monday so I thought I would see if anyone on here has done this. Also, is there a waiting period for these policies? I know some policies you have to have them for like 12mos before they will pay for a big procedure. Any info would be appreciated!!! Thanks
