I had heartburn from being too tight and got .5 cc removed (taking me to 5.3 cc) and now I'm totally fine. You may see if you end up loosening up over time but I hated living like that. I'm actually losing more weight now because I also started eating too much sliders like icecream!

Good luck  Allergan makes two size the APS and APL (i think that is 14cc's)... so an 8 cc fill on 14 cc's is like 5.7 on 10 cc's... was curious. I've tried to do that and hadn't been too successful I was too tight I was eating icecream and crap - cuz i was always hungry. You get into a pattern and don't realize it - its pretty amazing... Right now since the unfill I have been LESS hungry! And eating better - isn't that interesting? I am still on heartburn med Zegrid too. When you had the nightcough - did you choke too? Isn't that horrible like your drowning!!! So glad that is over! -

Do you have a 10 cc band and is it the allergan band or realize. That is a pretty big fill I can't handle anything over 5.5 it seems for too long - I had .5cc's taken out and I feel great! But I know I seem to be on the lower end of what is typically sweet spot. I am eating better no more junk its amazing how that becomes this vicious cycle! I was getting the night cough and choking again! I raised the white flag and did not wait for my two week appt. She said to keep that appt as she may need to put a little back. But we have all done great so far. I'm ok w/ slowing it up I was getting a lot of fatigue as well. -

I am at 5.8 or 5.9 I lost track and I really can't handle it - in fact looking forward to an unfill in two weeks. I am eating crap like icecream and not even really losing weight. I'm just going to chill out with this at this point i have 20 lbs to go and I've concluded the honeymoon is over the last 20 will likely be very slow! -
When does PB/vomiting become bulemia?
hmarko replied to kuurtamo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to say that I never had a bulimia issue but lately I do feel like I am having one and I know why. I am too tight and my doc told me last visit ' I live life too tight' and she said next month she is taking some out... and at the time I felt less restricted so let that month go w/o taking out. WELL I'm too restricted now and here is the cycle - I'm hungry I eat crap like icecream try to eat something else and purge. Def getting unfilled next time I see how being too tight can promote bad habits so just a thought to ensure that isn't part of the problem. I'm counting the days before going in (2 weeks) - i'm ok enough to not rush back but this isn't even productive. Going to try the two days of liquid as well as I'm tired of this. -

Hi Gals - overall it sounds like we are all pretty much in the same boat - a plateau. I lost 70 lbs and I'm 20 lbs away from goal. I lost 5 lbs since early April got tightened and frankly I'm overtight and not losing. AND now i have heartburn and acid reflux. My doc told me next month she is loosening me up but honestly I confess to not having been too good either - ie i' have hit up some icecream on occassion! But I think that too is a sympom of being too tight. I can't wait for my appt to loosen up a bit to be honest and I'm at the point that i'm not going to put pressure on myself. I'm frankly at my first goal - would be great to get this off qick but i don't think that will happen. How is everyone's skin holding up? My tummy and arms are ok... but my inner leg - OH BOY! YUK! I'm glad we have each other - reading this posts we can see there are a lot of commonalities! Travel was it you w/ the bile duct? That had to suck how do you feel I had liver issues once and I was so EXHAUSTED for months!!! Sorry you are going thru this. I got all paranoid and had my doc ultrasound my gall bladder no stones. I have been having fatigue issues too - again prob a bit undernourished. That procedure is pretty invasive too I think isn't it? Isn't it like a stent type thing for the bile duct? I hope you are finally feeling better! Helen -

I haven't figured it out yet  I ride dressage which uses a lot of butt muscle - people tell me to walk hills but I don't think short of a butt implant that anything can be done  I'm very narrow and don't have much of a butt. -

Hey Loveslady - you are doing awesome!!!! I'm almost down 70 lbs too! My butt is sagging now that is my loose skin problem and also my inner thighs... stomach is ok I'm shocked at that!!! Arms are ok too. Thanks for the well wishes. I hope I will feel better. I am tired of feeling like this. The fever at least tells me its not in my head and its been on and off for weeks. -

I have been having for 3 weeks all of the above except pain (but I am having nighttime discomfort - acid reflux suddenly since being tightened about 10 days ago) and in addition to this a fever now (it was 100 with advils now its normal); and the migraine for a month about 65% of the time sometimes w/ nausea. I have thrown up and wondered if I was just overtight. Advils have helped me bring down fever and discomfort (so maybe I'm a bit tight too but that is more recent way before the neverending migraine). My liver was elevated in Jan and 2 years ago I had the same problem and I was sure it was my gallbadder and my bile duct showed evidence of a stone having passed! Have a doc appt on Friday w/ my GP. Hope I get answers. -
I saw this and find it interesting because I have something similar which I think has to do w/ something going on w/ the esophagus. It tends to happen if I am tight and I think the esophagus is working harder to push things thru and when you think of it the esophagus starts right around your jaw line right? Never asked the doc about it as it isn't constant. Often after it happens i notice more salivation and the 'pop' of something going thru the opening. So its just a reflex i think. My two sense. I'm sure others get it and prob don't even notice. I'll ask if I ever get to a support group and see what they say.

Ok so here is a question to those of you have gall bladder issues. I'm a little unnerved by the fact that there are two on this chain who were Sept bandsters. I had elevated liver enzymes in Jan, epstein barr active gain, MAJOR fatigue since Jan, headaches, and a bit of nausea. the last two are concerning me as I read that it can be a sign of gall bladder issues. That combined w/ the stats here has me a bit worried. I can explain the headaches too i figured they were tension related bringing on migraines but accupuncture failed to really get rid of it and I've had one on and off for two weeks. They seem to be migraine like but they have been lasting an aweful long time. Plus I am sooooooooooooo tired! I have seen a GP and the first test showed the liver, Epstein barr and vit D deficient; the next test showed ok on liver and EBarr but vit b12 lowish and a bit iron deficient. HELP  Do we think it could be gall bladder and can anything be done? I've already got an appt and not to mention i had felt like i had gallstone issues in the past screwing around w/ my liver. This time I don't have the pains and throwing up though. -
First tip - have a drink alcohol loosens the band Second - you can't go wrong w/ fish I never ever eat bread out. ever. I went to CITRUS on UWS and had crabcakes (really that is a mushy); and shrimp quesadilla. I did have two martinis though because I had just gotten a fill a couple of days before that. If you are worried having a drink relaxes the esophagus, so in the beginning and now even I do usually have a drink if I eat out. Not exactly low calorie so I don't make a habit of this Also always know where the bathroom is. Sushi I won't even attempt because of the seaweed (oh the other thing I do is I often order the food in to try it)... and I got really really stuck on sushi (of course it was a spyder roll - soft shell crab what WAS i thinking!??!?). NYC is actually the easiest I think - you can order appetizers only etc. I just went to aruba and was struggling on occassion. At times I didn't order anything and picked on other's dishes (they ordered extra). Family style worked well too! You can also eat steak (I know people say they can't) if you can deal w/ medium rare and chew extremely well - skirt steak and filet mignon usually work ok for me. tender meat.

after the pop did you feel less pressure in your pouch? I think its just the food going thru the stoma. That happens sometimes its not really a pop but more a sudden passing through the opening and relief right? I use the analogy (or rather my doc's office has) of a water cooler glugging. Can happen w/ liquids too. Is that it?

Amanda and Coloradomom - same here. I haven't been on the site for a while. I have been at 178 since March 1. I did get a small fill a week ago. I'm into a size 10 on the bottom (YAY me!!) 14 on top. I would like to lose 20-30 more but don't care cuz I don't want to lose my boobs  PLUS I have no energy too. -

Happy 6 month anniversary ladies!!! Retreat would be cool. Money though is the reality! Then again there are always miles. -
Is there anyone at restriction at 5cc or am i a freak! lol
hmarko replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have 5.6 on a 10 cc allergan band. And i am restricted we only adjust up or down .1 cc's if anything at all. I do go in every month so they can keep tabs on my weeight loss/restriction levels. I'm feeling a bit stalled so suspect we may up it next time. we let some out as I had gurgling and had been steadily losing 8 lbs a month. Now I am aobut 40 lbs from goal so that weight loss is getting tougher. -
Anyone out there an outdoor enthusiast?
hmarko replied to chloe2169's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I horse back ride big moving horses and no probs there. I haven't fallen off yet (knock wood) so can't tell u if that messes you up though my doc says it wouldn't -
Anyone ever get bad bruising after a fill (or in my case I had a slight unfill?) I have a HUGE black bruise 2 inches in diameter. It didn't hurt while I was getting it but now it even feels lumpier - wonder if I should call the doc?? is this normal?
-
apparently not that uncommon (link below)- though I don't recall her prodding around for it. I will call anyway. Frankly I think we should have left it as is and not taken anything out i'm starving www.lapbandtalk.com/f13/question-large-bruise-after-fill-53091/

Does everyone have to pay for a unfill?
hmarko replied to lilmissy2009's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wow 500?? that is a fortune I thought NYC was bad but no! where do you live? We are given 3 days to adjust after a fill. I'm having opposite problem i had .1 put in i had been gurgling this past w/ but also TOM; she thought it was too tight - so we took the .1 out this month and i'm starving now. Well I was complaining of having no room for veggies I guess i better start eating them!! -
I had this grumbling this month for the first time either when eating or drinking. I mentioned to my doc she said it means i am slightly too tight - she took out .1 cc and i'm fine now. I remember when i got my first fill the NP said the same thing you will hear gurgling if too tight - like a Water cooler making the bloop bloop bloop sound if that makes sense.
-
my set point was always 20 lbs - and I lost 60 lbs. I weigh what I weighed about 12 years ago so I don't subscribe to that theory at least where the band is concerned. I've blown through right past my many levels of 20 lbs gains/losses... 221, 208, 198, 188. granted I will go thru a period where nothing seems to happen for 3 weeks then it goes flying off again. Hmmm 198 was one of those so maybe you guys are right - that used to be a set point for me. Persever and you will get through it.
-
my chiro wanted me to dbl check w/ my doc - she does gentle manipulations - drops mainly and pressure point stuff. she did not want to touch that are for a bit though like 2 months

I think horseback riding is tamer than bungee jumping LOL. Sorry i meant disconnect the tubing from the port not the port itself so that the saline comes out. Ouch the port itself must be real painful yikes! Haven't heard that one. They said all of that is unlikely though. I was going to say if you have done it before maybe you have a feel for what can happen inside - like if I fall I don't think anything would really happen But I have to wonder bouncing up and down upside down hmmmm. Well keep us posted. Have fun!
