Bandsters in Their 20's
tyffani81 replied to Mia26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I had my surgery 6-29-2009. I am 27. So far, I have told pretty much everyone. It has helped my stay accountable when I want to eat crap or don't want to exercise. To date, I have lost 28 lbs (my ticker is not updated). I am very glad I got the band, no regrets at all. I have a a very good experience. The first 5 days were the worst for me b/c of pain. It was explained to me there was little to no pain at all with this "same day surgery" I would have to disagree a little! LOL Those days sucked! I got my first fill 9 days ago and I can definitely tell a difference. I do not get sick or stuffed, but I get a disctinctly full feeling. It is hard to get used to when I am eating so little compared to what I used to. Like my brain is saying, there is no way you are full! I get on this site nearly everyday and check out the stories and photos of others at their goal. It is so encouraging to me. My only regret is I did not get this done sooner. I feel like I have spent so many years depressed about my weight and now I want to make up time! Anyways, always looking for support. Look forward to meeting other 20 somethings!! -
Sorry, but I have had no nausea. I did have a scopolamine patch behind my ear before and after surgery. Have you been given zofran or phenergan? Or Reglan? All of those usually help. Are you getting liquids down at all?

Don't let that set you back! You did it and it is done now, move on. Just try to make it through the next few weeks. There will be a day you will be able to eat the food you want. I work with several girls who have bands and tolerate most all foods just in small portions. Good luck to you! =)

Banded 7/31 Can't Shake Foggy Feeling
tyffani81 replied to Bunkport's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt foggy. I think it was more of the liquids for so long plus the anesthesia. It really hangs on to some people. For me, the 1st week after surgery, I was miserable. Gas, pain, tired, unable to drink at all 1st 2 days etc Now, almost 6 weeks out, I don't feel like I even had surgery! -
OK, this is my first post. I found this site about a week after I had my band placed. It has been so helpful to me to see what everyone else is experiencing. So, thought I would share. I had my band on 6/29/09. I went for my first fill today. Absolutely hate, hate, hate needles. I waited in the exam room for about 45 minutes and made the mistake of looking at the supplies about to used.....AGH! Tip- DONT LOOK! Anyways, he got me on the table lying flat on my back, had me raise my feet a couple of inches up, poked around my port with his hands a few seconds, and bam! He was done! I swear I was in shock at how simple, quick, and painless it was! I would never mislead anyone. I wanted to share b/c I know I contemplated bypass for a while b/c the thought of fills horrified me! Just want anyone out there to know, it was great! :scared2::tt1:
