Can you strech out the top portion of the stomach
jodonnell replied to itsalmosttime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to eat pretty much whatever before my first fill on Fri. Remember, once the swelling goes down from the surgery, you really aren't very restricted until your fill. I noticed a HUGE difference yesterday after my fill. I now feel "Thanksgiving dinner" full everytime I take a few bites of anything when just earlier this week, I wasn't getting full. I even gain a pound or two back before my fill. My dr. said not to worry if that happened because once the fill came was my "losing stage." You are still in the "healing stage." -
Can I handle kids alone after surgery?
jodonnell replied to should_be_working's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was back to work (getting my classroom ready for this year) on day 3. You probably won't feel like jogging a mile, but you should be fine. -
I was banded yesterday. A coworker of mine was banded almost a year ago (in a week it wil have been a year) and she lost 102 lbs with no exercise.

Had surgery yesterday...Not to bad!!!
jodonnell replied to Tia1966's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh...I had surgery yesterday and feel like I've been run over by a Mac truck! (But I'm still glad I did it. Surely it can't last hat long.) -
I'm having my surgery on Tuesday (7/21) and I'm on the liquid diet phase. I am in perfect health, other than being fat. So...I've been following the diet perfectly other than (grr @ me) I ate two bites of pizza on Friday! I'm so mad at myself! I wasn't even thinking...husband got the kids pizza and I picked up a piece and took 2 bites before I realized what I was doing! (Which is probably my problem in the first place!) :wink2: Do you think I need to tell my doctor?

Good. I've been worried. I didn't have a fatty liver...but I thought that it could be that some foods didn't digest as fast and so they wanted our stomach empty. I actually am only on a liquid diet for three days after surgery. Then mushies for 9 days.....so I guess I can make it one more day. I have a feeling I won't feel like anything solid the days afterward anyway. :wink2:

Not banded yet & already got discouraged...
jodonnell replied to mom2trips06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand! Ive had people tell me that I'm doing this the "easy way out" or losing weight the "lazy way" and it annoys the heck out of me. Looks like we are having surgery the same time (pretty much---mine is the day after yours). -
What does it mean to reach your "sweet spot"?
jodonnell replied to FailureIsntAnOption's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not banded yet (surgery 7/21) but my doctor explained that he gives his patients the "sweet spot" by making them drink water while he fills you. When you come to the point that the water stops going down, they remove enough of the fill so that the water can flow freely. Then you are at a point where liquids flow freely, but solids do not.
