  1. Hey, how have you been doing? I must say it does get better every day. The gas pains have subsided tremendously. I can now sleep through the night. :-)

    The Deed Is Done!!

Congrats to u! Your surgery did go very well. I was banded on the 16th and I stayed one night in the hospital. When I woke up I was delirious. LOL The gas was really bad for me but it has gotten much better. I am proud of the weight loss so far and am anxiously looking forward to mushies. We are on our way!

Do you burp all the time?

Oh my the burping is crazy! My surgery was 7/16 and not only do I burp all the time but I hear all sort of sounds. It's a little embarrassing because the sounds can be loud. Does that go away???

    Please help. I'm dying here

Hi Kimmie I was banded the same day & I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are having. I know they will take care of everything and you will be feeling great real soon! Tomorrow we will be 1 week post op!

    brand new bander

Congrats on your surgery! I was banded on the 16th and I'm facing the same issue. These are some great suggestions! I will try both.
  6. I'm very addicted to it as well. I should be getting ready for my morning courses but look at me...LOL I must admit each day I am feeling better. I got the best sleep last night! I'm trying to find a diet that works but often I'm not able to eat everything then I start feeling dizzy. I'm going to order the Lindora as well. How was your first day back to work?

  7. Hey I was banded on the 16th! Congrats! I completely understand where you are coming from...I am so tired of chicken broth. Today, I found some delicious soups at the grocery store and I can know feel better about this process. Get ready because next week we will be on mushies...
  8. Girl you are so welcomed! We are there for each other. It may be too soon for Zumba...that class is quite a workout. Girl those gas-x stripes have become my best friend but the gas is still a painful thing for me. It feels good to finally be home. I was off of Muirkirk which I believe is really close to Cherry... technically it's considered Beltsville but it's soooo close to Laurel. I was thinking we definitely have to get together. Please take it slow. Remind yourself that you just had major surgery so you don't want to damage anything. I laid around all weekend and now I'm ready to see the sun...LOL Question do you ever feel dizzy? I think I need to eat more because I often feel dizzy. Also, you are posting messages on your page, I'm glad I have been checking it. ;-)

  9. Keep up the great work. You are encouraging me.

  10. I am glad to have done the surgery as well. I have been recuperating at my sister's house (Laurel) but today I am finally going home (Suitland). I haven't been out much since the surgery so I am actually looking forward to it. I think once I actually get back into my routine (college for the summer) a lot of this gas pain will go away. It keeps me up at night. So terrible! Girl I have lost 5 pounds since the surgery and 8 pounds pre op so I understand your thoughts about the weight going down. It is such a good feeling. I want to do Zumba as well. I hear it's a really good workout. I don't think I can do chicken broth for 9 more days! What other soups have you tried?

    Approved--- YAH!

I just received the call that the surgery has been approved!!!! I am so excited. My surgery date is July 16th. I am looking forward to starting my new life as a healthier and thinner me.
  12. It sounds like you are doing great! 45 min on the treadmill ~That is soooo good. The most exercise I have been able to do is the Wii Fit walking for about 10 minutes yesterday. I'm trying to walk everyday because I hear it helps with the gas. Girl I have strong gas pains everywhere; in my shoulder, back, stomach you name it I have it. Other than that I'm doing ok. I can't drink a lot but I'm trying to get my protein in and that's been difficult. How long is your liquid diet & when do you transition to puree? Keep up the good work!

  13. I'm so excited, nervous and anxious! I can't believe it's finally here. My first surgery consult was 4/17 and the surgery is 7/16 ~ 3 months. Although, I have been considering the lap band for the past 4 years. I'm so excited that my process did not take as long and now I can have a new beginning. My arrival time at the hospital is 10 am and I will stay overnight. I pray for a smooth surgery with very little pain....

    Tomorrow is my big day...

Thank you all for the well wishes! Overall I'm doing well just a lot of tenderness and pain were the port is located. Not sure how long to expect that but I hope it goes away soon. Like the old saying, "No pain, no gain".
  15. Hello!!! I came home late yesterday and now resting at my sister's house. The overall surgery went well. My surgeon's new processes for the surgery is only having one incision were the port is located. This is the only place I'm having pain. It's right by my naval so when I get up or sit down it really hurts. I have intermittent gas pain as well and the dissolvable gas stripes do work. Overall I'm doing ok but I want the pain to stop. L I do know it will get better but when? I guess we can say the hard part is over and we are on our way!!! Are you able to move around?

  16. I'm glad you are doing well. I have been thinking of you and wishing you good thoughts. I'm excited and nervous. I'm beginnig to pack (always late) and just reflecting on the changes that are soon to come. We are definitely on our way!!! Do you have any neck or gas pains?

  17. Thank you for the suggestions. The Lindora drinks have great reviews. I will be doing my last minute shopping tomorrow. I wonder if they sell it in any stores... I am getting nervous. How do you feel? Two more days...have you gotten everything? Are you staying overnight? My insurance allows a one night stay so I will stay until Friday. I am getting nervous..oh I think I said that already. LOL

I pray that you will have a great surgery with little to no pain and a fast recovery. And just wait, in a few months you will be doing the thang!

    July 2009 Dates

    July 16th!!!
  19. Hello...girl you have 4 more days!!!! It is really count down time now. I have finally finished all of my appointments and everything came out ok. They did notice a mild hernia and acid reflux but all in all I am cleared for surgery! YES... 4 days for you and 6 days for me. My liquid diet is so hard that I find myself not eating at all to avoid from eating the wrong foods. And in my opinion these protein shakes are not very tasty. Which brand do you use??? Please don't forget to keep me posted on your status after the surgery. You are almost there...

    My Experience

I'm glad things went so smoothly. I hope to be saying those same words in the next two weeks.
  24. You are so sweet---yes I have 2 more weeks. You are done to 12 days!!! ;-)!!! I'm starting to get a headache from all of these test. I'm nervous about my ekg because it has been abnormal in the past due to a minor heart murmur. I promised myself that I will not worry. I'm sure it will all workout. I've seen websites were you can discuss your lapband journey. I was thinking about doing that but I'm very skeptical about putting my picture up. Afraid someone may see me. Living in MD you know this metro area is very small...

Birth Control Pill and Weight Loss

I'm scheduled for surgery on 7/16 and was told to find another form of birth control which is not a pill. Has anyone had a problem swallowing their pills since the surgery? I don't want to stop taking my pills....
