    Too tight and miserable...

It's been 3 weeks and not much has changed! I think I may need to get a small unfill this week. If I drink Water I'm full for hours and can't eat anything. If I eat, I can't drink anything. It has gotten a little better, as of now I can eat 4-5 bites with each meal and that's it for hours. When I initially got the fill water wouldn't go down--- so things have improved. But I don't think I'm getting enough Protein. Also I have lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks. Should 4-5 bites be sufficient? For example yesterday I ate 1 shrimp, 1 sushi roll, 1 wingette (not an entire wing), 3 teaspoons of oatmeal, 4 oz of water & 8 oz of tea. My stomach wouldn't allow anything else in and I actually slimed a bite after each meal. Is this normal?

  3. Hello fellow bandsters, I was banded on 7/16 and I am wondering how everyone's progress has been. My surgery went really well. My only complaint was the severe gas pains but after the 5th day it subsided tremendously. I do have slight discomfort around my port but I know that is to be expected. Currently, I am still on full liquids and I am sooo hungry. I do understand the reason for the transitional diets so I intend on sticking with it. Enough about me...how are you doing? Are you excercising? How much have you lost so far? Are you happy you went through with the surgery? Keep positive people in your circle and you will reach your goals!!!:smile2:
  4. Hello, I too, had the single incision on 7/16/09! I can feel my port very easily right beside my belly button. It's funny you mentioned the restriction...before my last fill my restriction varied from day to day. One day I could barely eat anything and the next I can eat an entire plate. This may be extremely normal???? I do love the fact of only having one incision which is not noticeable at all!!! My Dr. constantly says "Are you sure you have the band because I don't see a thing!"

    Too tight and miserable...

You all have great suggestions and I thank you. It's great having a wonderful medical team but to speak with people who have experienced the same thing is even better..... I have been much better...YEAH! Yesterday I ate Soup and then later 3 teaspoons of mashed potatoes and it stayed down. I drink 2-4 ounces of liquid every hour. So things are improving. I can't eat much but over time hopefully I can get back up to 3/4 to 1 cup per meal. Before the fill I noticed my restriction was very light and I was snacking between meals. So hopefully in a week or so I will be at my sweet spot????? But if I begin bringing things back up I will definitely go in for a small unfill. Oh.... and it was my TOM and now it's going away so she could have made things more intense for me! Mimi -I hope you feel better soon. I now understand how terrible you can feel when things are not going down properly. Try Soups and Water until you feel better.

    Anyone banded on 7/16...

So how are you all doing?????? For me, I am 1 lb away from being out of the 200's. I haven't been this size since 2000 (before the birth of my son). I recently had my 3rd fill and I am really tight right now. Trying to decide if an unfill is needed. My exercise has increased and I do at least 5 days a week for 30-40 minutes. I have finally realized with or without the band...the only way to be healthy with weight loss is to exercise and eat a proper nutritious diet. I took awhile for that fact to set in but I think I have it now. Please let me know how things are going for you!

    Too tight and miserable...

Mimi--You are so right we do not want to let any fluids go... restriction is all I want but I don't want to feel sick. I just read from another post that your menstrual cycle can cause the band to be tighter. Well my cycle started the day after this fill. That may be the reason for the tightness as well. It wasn't aware it could affect that at all. This is so interesting..... Has anyone heard of this before?
  14. I am soooo happy I have read this post. I am in the same situation. I had my fill on Tuesday, 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band, and Tuesday and Wednesday I was able to keep liquids down. But my cycle came Wednesday night and I have not been able to keep anything down. My Dr. has put me on liquids for the next few days and I don't want an unfill because I need restriction. It's good to know that all of this may be over in a couple of days..... This is so interesting! Good luck to you and hopefully things will get better for us!

    Too tight and miserable...

Thank you all very much for the support and suggestions. I did in fact call my Dr. yesterday (after having 5 episodes of not keeping anything down) and he has taking me off of solids. He wanted me to come into the emergency room for an unfill as he was concerned about me dehydrating. But I didn't really want to go (being stubborn). OK so this is the plan--- I must drink 2-4 ounces of liquids every hour. I can have Soup but nothing solid. He believes my stomach is swollen and now irritated from the vomiting episodes. If things aren't better by the time he calls today (which they have been) I must come in for an unfill. I hope this works and things get better. Since speaking with everything has stayed down YEAHHH!!! I even had 5 teaspoons of soup last night and 10 ounces of Water. I know this is very little but it's more than I have had since Tuesday and it stayed down.... Has anyone else ever been this tight and did it get better without an unfill?

    Too tight and miserable...

My Dr.'s office is closed today and will not reopen until Monday. When I received my 2nd fill I was really tight in the begining but as time went by it did loosen up. I'm not sure if it will do the same this time. I hope it will and then I can be at my sweet spot. I don't know what to do or what to eat!

    Christmas Weightloss Challenge

Hello All, I would like to join the challenge. I'm a little late but my goal is to lose 16 lbs by Christmas. I will commit to 30 minutes to m Wii Fit each day and no junk food! I can do it... we can do it! Current 206 Goal 190
  19. Hey Missy,

I am doing good. I'm down 32lbs but it is coming off slowly now. Fortunately I go in for a fill on Tuesday. It is difficult getting the exercise in daily. My schedule sounds like yours....working, school, assignments and on top of that my son! It is too much at times but I was built for this :-)! Let's try to plan a meeting at the National Harbor really soon. We can wak around and do lunch. By the way I am lovng the profile pic..very cute.

  20. I am only 3 months post op and I am noticing my weight going down in my legs and chest but my stomach is not going anywhere. Have you lost your belly fat? If so how??? I know it is still pretty soon for me but I want to start the work now! I do exercise about 3 times per week for 20-30 min each.... I know I need to increase my workout. Your suggestions are appreciated!

    Loosening up after a fill

I'm glad to hear I am not the only one experiencing this... After my 2nd fill (almost 3 weeks ago) I was so tight I could barely drink Water. But over the past several days I began noticing my ability to eat much more. I still have restriction, just not as much as I did initially. Actually, it's pretty good so far because I was sooo tight eating anything was uncomfortable. I believe I'm almost at my sweet spot...maybe .50 cc more and hopefully that should do it for awhile. I suggest waiting it out for a week or so then go back in for an additional .50 cc. That may do it for you???? This is a learning experience for us all but now you know to wait it out a week or so before an unfill.

Have you lost your belly fat?!

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have the Wii Fit and will commit 5 days a week to hula hooping ...anything to reduce this stomach!

    Anyone banded on 7/16...

I think I need an unfill! Things have not gotten better. I can only eat 3-4 bites of most foods without feeling discomfort. It is so frustrating! I'm happy to see the weight loss but I keep getting stuck. It is so painful! Tonight I got stuck eating rice. The pain was in my chest and I felt as if I couldn't breathe. All I could do was pace back and forth. Finally my mouth became watery and a bunch of slim came up (sorry for the description). So after tonight I have made the decision to get .25-.50 removed from my band. Until then eating will not be enjoyable for me.

    Anyone banded on 7/16...

Hello All, How are things going for you? How many fill have you received? Are you exercising? What do you eat and how much? And how is the weight loss going? I have much more restriction after my 2nd fill (1 week ago). I was really tight at first but as the days go by it is getting better. The weight loss was very slow for me but now things have improved. I am so excited....I have meet my 1st goal of 215 as of today 10/4/09!!!! Currently, I can only eat about 2 oz. which is equal to about 4 tbsp but I am hoping to reach 4 oz once the swelling goes down in the band. Each day it gets better. Initially, after getting the 2nd fill I could only eat 2-3 bites so I am definitely improving. I was considering a slight unfill but I will give it another week or so to see if things improve. The good news is that I am losing and I have not PB'd. But my stomach gets really tight with a slight burning feeling. It is very uncomfortable. I have found out that eating slowly and chewing well is the way to go. If I did not do those things it would be very uncomfortable each and every time I ate. OK, so enough about me.....How are things with you all? WE CAN DO IT!!!!
  25. I recently received my 2nd fill and now have about 5.5 cc's in my 10 cc band. The problem is I can only eat 3-5 bites of food before I begin feeling completely uncomfortable with continual burping. It feels as though I have to vomit along with a tight burning sensation. I believe it's telling me that I have eaten too much but it was only 3 bites. Is this what the "sweet spot" feels like or should I have some of the Fluid removed? Until this point I have experienced very little restriction so I am excited about the opportunity to now start losing but my mind is telling me... you need to eat more. Does this make sense?
