Post Op Diet Question
JulieKP replied to akfmurphy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also banded on June 30th. Yesterday I was so hungry, I thought I was gonna cave in. So I read ahead and started some creamy foods. I haven't had a large quanity but just enough to keep me sane. My mom made me potato soup last night. Today I had some refried beans with my tortilla soup broth. I don't have any pain and I've listened to my stomach to see when to stop. I'll tell my doctor when I call in on Tuesday. -
I was also banded on June 30th. During recovery I had the dry heaves. Oh my goodness, I thought I was gonna die.

Well here goes...

Okay, first thing, the reason I said cancel is because I am looking at radiation treatments for cancer after my lapband. By that time, school will be ready to begin again. I've decided that my bit of "cheating" was not extreme. I've had mostly some chunks of vegetables or chicken out of my soup broth that I did not strain thoroughly. Surely that can't be fatty enough to make a big difference in my liver. I've made a big weight loss during the past 2 weeks and otherwise been very faithful to the diet. I asked my doctor's nurse last week if I could have minestrone soup when we went out for my husband's 50th birthday.

I'm supposed to be banded on Tuesday morning. I've been on the liquid preop diet for 2 weeks. I've cheated a bit everyday. When I eat my soup broth, I've had some chunky bits of the soup. It is mostly vegetables with just a very few bits of chicken or rice. I'm so afraid that this is going to make a difference in my liver. Should I just go ahead and cancel? I don't want to but, maybe it would be better. Oh, I did weigh today and and I couldn't believe it. I'm 19lbs less than I was when I started. What do ya'll think?

I get banded on Tuesday and this is the first I've ever heard about this! It makes me wonder what else don't I know. Oh...this is my first post here.
