How many surgery scars do you have?
KSUCats replied to M2G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is Nov. 15th, so no scars here yet...! But I will only have 1 cresent shaped scar above my bellybutton (hopefully), unless my surgeon has to convert from Lap. to Open. -
My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 15th at 2:00 with Dr. Brent Sorensen at St. Lukes Medical here in Kansas City, MO. Good luck to everyone!!

Struggling with liquid diet
KSUCats replied to Monday_thru_Friday's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ughh I feel your pain. I have surgery on the 15th, so today was day 1 of a 2 week liquid diet. I think i've eaten 20 sugar free popsicles already lol. SF jello helps too. I already have a headache, and I know it'll be here to stay... It is true, every comercial seems to be about food, or I'll be watching a TV show and bam there is food. lol I think this will be the hardest thing i've ever had to do!! -
Hello out there! I just received insurance approval from Aetna this Monday after a 3 month diet, and my surgery is scheduled for 11-15-2010, with my 2 week liquid diet starting on 11-1-2010. I'm currently somewhere between 280-300 lbs (I'm sure I've gained weight since my last weigh-in at the Dr's, lol. 5'6 and 23 years old. I'll have my surgery through 1 lapriscopic hole above my belly button instead of the 5-6. Any tips from you experienced ones out there for the pre-op diet? I will be on 5 Protein shakes a day, plus unlimited broth, sugar free popsicles etc. Someone told me gum is good as long as I don't swallow, lol!!! Any tips are appreciated!

Anyone With Aetna Choice POS II??
KSUCats replied to Irishbookworm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Aetna Choice POS II.... and Consider the 4 mos a blessing lol. I have to wait 7 mos total (6 month diet, + 1 month for initial PCP visit) I figure as long as i've been heavy, 7 more months should be a breeze, lol. -
4 weeks.... yikes, lol. My surgeon told me I would have to be on an all protien diet prior for 2 weeks prior to surgery.. I don't know how i'm going to get through that one, lmao.

Hi Danielle.. i'm right about where you are i'm 21 (almost 22 yay, Lol) and i'm about 320isH.. lol I'm hoping to get insurance approval soon, I have to go on the 6 month diet plan  but if they'll pay for it, i'll do it.. anyway, my question was about exercise? I know by eating less you lose weight, but did you notice faster weight loss with exercise? It would be awesome to be 160 after surgery, but with how big I am now i'm afraid it wont happen unless I eat like fat free jello for 2 years, lol.. but I guess i'd be happy with anything bellow 200

In, South TEXAS and Debating....
KSUCats replied to NewSexyMe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can understand about becoming pregnant... i'm only 22, but I want to start a family before 25, but at my weight it's extremely difficult, and I don't want to be super morbidly obese because of a pregnancy, lol. I want to be able to move around, take beautiful photos of my belly , work during my pregnancy, and most importantly deliver a healthy baby. I have not had the lap band surgery yet, but I have made the decision to have it done, not only for my health, but for the health of my future children.. It was a hard, and somewhat embarassing decision (the fact that I needed surgery to lose weight), but I figure it's better to do it now while i'm young, then later with more complications. Anyway, it is a hard decision, but remember if you do have it done, it can always be reversed, that was what sold me on the band... if I ever needed it taken out for any reason, it can be done.. good luck!! -
Dr. Hitchcock is partnered with Dr. Malley, lol he charges about the same $16,500. Fills are about $120, and an office visit runs about $60, I can definately say it is easier to book an appointment with Dr. Hitchcock then it is with Dr. Malley.. So far i've had a great experience
-
ugh, I tried to go through Dr. Malley, and was cancelled on twice.... soo i'm currently going through Dr. Hitchcock, so far so good... I'm in Kansas City Kansas by the way, lol!!

Hello everyone... My name is Christina, and i'm like most of you are or have done.. i'm beginning my lap-band journey. I have Aetna, and I spend my time reading the horror stories.. eck... or success stories.. Here's to hoping I get approved, lol! I have to complete the 6 month diet plan, and I will officially get that started in August. I'm a full-time college student pursing an A.S in Medical Technology with hopes of transfering to a 4 yr University for my bachelors.. I want to do clinical testing. I am considering obtaining phlebotomy certification as well, which is funny because I have a thing with needles, lol! I live with my boyfriend, and we have no children. Just kinda taking life day by day right now.

hello from the sunshine state
KSUCats replied to Iceprincessv8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am just begining a 6-mo diet plan for insurance approval... please tell me it flew by quickly. lol. When I say it, it sounds quick, but then when I say, oh it's half a year... ugH...LOL :bored: -
I struggled with the choice of surgery too.. I finally went to my doctor, and she actually tried to convince me to get gastric by-pass, which is way too much for me. Although she did make a good point, who wants to go in for fills when they're 67... but I figure after I have kids (i'm only 21..) I won't need much adjusting, and maybe after a certain point I can actually have it removed. That's what sold me, is that if I ever get sick, or for some reason need it reversed, it can be done. Either way good luck!!

Hopefully in 8 months ill be saying the same, lol! I have my psyc eval and meeting with a dietician at the end of July, and I'll have my first meeting with my doctor either at the end of July as well, or August... i'm hoping that'll place me around Feb. if all goes well maybe I can have the surgery for valentines day, lol! I'm facing the issue of BMI requirements though.. I had a BMI of 42 in 2006, nothing recorded in 2007 (I had no insurance), and and a BMI of 45 April of 2008.. either way, i'm guessing if they deny me 'coz of no BMI for 2007 , i'll just have to wait til April of next year, for 2 consecutive years. lol I'm hoping I won't have to go down that route though!! :bored:
