Worried about the emotional stuff
edieparks replied to BarbBee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had so much depression at first. I mourned eating large volumes of my fav food. When I slid into size 18 jeans all my worries went away along with my plus size old self. I know deep down inside I am still a food addict . The band still keeps me full. edie -
I don't see anything with eating a bandster portion of fried fish or a piece of KFC . edie
-
When I got that line about just do it yourself, I would say in a sad voice "I wish I could do it the way you want me to, but I am addicted to food like an alcoholic is to booZe" . Each time he says that just repeat the same thing, he is just repeating himself over and over again too. Good luck, edie

Been there done that gas thing. I was like a musical instrument. It did pass (lol). When I ate too fast I would slime. edie
-
I just explained to my negitive comments that I was addicted to food like a alcoholic . I told them I wished I could do what they suggested. I tried to make them feel bad. I am having the last laugh and the satisfaction of being slim now. edie

Yes I got some stupid remarks, but I have had the last laugh. edie

When I felt weak , I felt like it was my body telling I needed Protein. I would eat a piece of chicken or tuna salad for example. good luck, edie

I suggest you DO GO BACK to your surgeon. You need to fill restriction for the band to help you. Just suck it up and go get a fill. It will help you feel full and get back on the losing wagon. good luck edie

Just Getting Started - Questions
edieparks replied to allicdoesit's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just from here on the site and then with a friend I have met recently who was banded, I would ask the surgeon how many fills his average patient has. My new friend has had 3 since June 1 07 and my surgeon was more aggressive and his average patient would only have two. I only had to have two to lose 125 lbs. edie -

6 months hell and Aetna said NO-devastated
edieparks replied to aubrie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I figured I spend at least $7 dollars a day on my addiction and I think that was VERY LOW estimate. That gave me $7 times 30 days in a month for $210 to pay on a loan for self pay. Could you and your husband maybe do the math on how much you spend on keeping your weight up? I know it isn't a nice subject to think about but that weight doesn't stay on the body without feeding it. Feeding it cost money. I also never bought any fancy protein anything. I just used Carnation Instant Breakfast meals, even the Kroger brand of this for my protein drinks. I notice Walmart has a Great Value version too. Please pm me if I can help you. edie -
Just an answer to the exercise part of your thread. I started out with 30 minutes of slow laps. I could only walk 1/2 mile in 35 minutes. As the weight came off I did more and more. I was sucessful . edie

Starting my pre op liquid diet... tomorrow!!!!!!!!!
edieparks replied to lisak's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The liquid diet was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I had never tried the slim fast diet plan for example. I thought I was going to start chewing on my furniture. It was so worth it. LIke I have posted before this part of banding separates the men from the boys. I felt so relieved when it was over. Mine was 10 days before and 5 after surgery. My familiy told me later they knew I would be sucessful when I could stay on the liquid diet part. They said they knew it must have been so hard. Good luck for your soon to be band sister edie (not eddie tee hee) -
I joined my local gym and waddled in there all 265 lbs of me. I was embarrassed but I knew I needed to be there. I would swim for 30 minutes. Slow laps of course. Eventually I was up to walking 4 miles on the lap course. The compliments I recieved from people who had noticed me big and then becoming smaller and smaller made the embarrassment so worth it. So I started in a size 26 swimsuit and finished my membership in a size 10 tanktini. When I started maintanance I had to cut my mega exercise back to 2 miles a day and so I quit my membership . Good luck, edie

I am ashamed I have not posted. The maintanance is going great. I went down to 138 but am back up to 145. I am pleased. I get so busy, I just don't eat. It is not healthy . I have had my second part-time job at Walmart for about 8 weeks now. I love it. I groom during the day part-time also. I love having all this energy but it is not leaving me as much time to sit in front of the puter. I have made contact with a real live person (lol) in my town who was banded June 1 2007. She is really nice and we have really like each other. She is very busy with a part-time job and a mentally ill 35 years old daughter that live with her. So we talk once a week and enjoy it . I rode up with her to her last fill which amounted to 4 hours on the road so we have bonded and I think I have inspired her. She was making really bad food choices ...... I love this site but it is nice to really know someone who is like you. I think we will have a long freindship because of our band bond. She doesn't have a computer so she had nothing but those long distance calls to her doctor. I am still walking about 2 miles a day. Sometimes more . It has turned fall here in Kentucky and it feels so good to walk in the sun and not get overheated. your band sister, edie If anyone needs anything remember pm me , don't ask me anything on this thread I maynot ever see it.

Foods you can't eat?
edieparks replied to ShineNSta's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I fear doughy foods. Yeast rolls and doughnuts come to mind. When I go to a restaurant I will cut the top of the roll off , slather the butter on and enjoy that piece. edie -
Welcome. Kiss your kids for me. edie
