Do you count calories? Do you follow rules?
edieparks replied to LundyLane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The only rule I broke everyday was drinking all day long. I drank before during and after meals. Never made me more or less hungry. edie -
Since the band, has grocery bill gone down?
edieparks replied to pixiestix's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes. I used to buy two steaks. Now one. I used to buy 6 chicken thighs. Now 4. The list goes on and on. edie -
Insurance Fully Covered me AND I HAVE MY DATE!!! YEEEHAW!!
edieparks replied to fotogurl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be scared. Just dream of a year from and how much healthier of a person you will be. edie -
You should be excited. I have posted this many times. I guess the first thing that comes to mind is your new choice of clothes that you will have. I used to dread a special event coming up. I would have to drag myself to shop and hope there was a tent that would not stretch and gap accross my back fat and 46DD front. Now the choices are unbelivable for me. Welcome to the start of a wonderful journey. edie

please read and if you hear me i need your input
edieparks replied to hairband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes Yes Yes I know what you are feeling. Men who pay attention to me because I am a different size , sales clerks who are more than happy to wait on me because I am a normal size person..... I realized I could dwell on that and feel all that hate and anger or I could realize I am a healthy person now and have a CHANCE at living longer. We never really know. I don't sweat like I used too. I use to have a fan on me at every chance I could because I FELT HOT all the time. Clothes . I just look at it like the choices are wonderful. I buy my clothes for me not for how I look to someone else. I feel like you are thinking about all the negative. I went for a lap band for health not looks. If I do feel better for looking normal and not feeling like the elephant everywhere I went ... it is just a bonus for me. Maybe you could volunteer at your local humane society or your charity of choice and get something else going with your new body that your old body would not have had the energy to do. I guess I am saying I do understand and have felt what you are feeling I really have , I just knew I could let it get to me or get over it and past it. Put you BIG girl panties on. LOL And by the way I am perfect . Ha Ha. I'm a mess in a lot of ways but I am really just trying to put my two cents in and help you. edie -
You are doing so well. Just wait until you get your band and it helps with that full feeling. good luck edie

Are you positive you won't be able to get financing? edie -
I would like to share a milestone
edieparks replied to susansilver's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh Susan, Good for you. The Lap Band is going to change your life like it has mine. Feeling good about yourself instead of "I should really try to get some of this weight off " changes a person. edie -
Why do you have to do liquids after a fill?
edieparks replied to windy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Windy, My surgeon told me because the stomach doesn't like being touched . The liquids give it time to get over it. edie -
Do a search, you will get to many posts and so much info. edie

Talk, talk and talk to your surgeon/Dr. edie -
Paige, Not trying to start a war with the Mx patients, I vote for Dr very close to you. edie

Bren, Be very very excited. lol I started walking 1/2 mile @ 6 weeks before my surgery. It would take me about 35 min . I had to walk very slowly because of my knees. I suggest you start some sort of exercise for 30 minutes NOW. I used the time to think about me and what I was going to do to succeed. Now I can walk 4 miles in 70 minutes. What a difference 100 lbs makes! edie

It was 3 months for me to get off byetta and metformain. edie

I always bought my new size on the snug size so it would last longer. edie

I don't have any trouble taking pills. My surgeon never mentioned this fact to me. In fact he told me to take an Advil every 12 hours for pain after surgery. edie

Dream about 3/28/2009. edie

Timing - Should I Do It Now Or Hold Off?
edieparks replied to bwohlgemuth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yours was a lengthy post. I read thru twice and I would vote to hold off , enjoy your wonderful trip and family and come back ready to get down and dirty. Life is to short to stress about all the time problems. I want to say have the surgery but I just don't see how is will be possible. I held off on my surgery to have a vacation too. In my case it was silly to wait. In your case...... I say wait. Try to get that weight off . BEST OF LUCK, edie -
KIm, It seems in MY case if I eat too fast I burp . edie
-
Tina, It took me 5 months to not care in the least bit about volume of food. Now I just enjoy what I eat until I get full and how much I got to eat doesnt have a thing to do with it. edie
-
YOU SHOULD be so excited. It was the best money I every spent. edie

I'm from Owensboro KY. I had my surgery July 2006 in Lousiville by Dr Schuster . I am so pleased with my band. It still keeps me nice and full. edie -
Count your calories . My gym girl told me to exercise differently to get over a plateau. She said to do one lap faster then my normal speed and then 2 normal speed laps , then one lap faster , then two normal. It got me over a month plateau in 3 days. edie

58 cheers for you. edie
