I can't feel my port!!
edieparks replied to drekagirl1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I lost weight I could feel it very easily. Your surgeon knows where it is. My surgeon had no problems with my two fills. Best wishes on your journey, edie -
I can honestly say my Mother has never said anything bad about my father. I think she is strong and a good role model for me. When my father asked who are you going to choose me or your mother ...I of course picked Mom with MS and he said ok, I no longer have a daughter. That was the end of our relationship back in 1982. So with my experience (lol) hold your tongue and you will be repaid in the long run no matter how MUCH it hurts or burns you up now. Try not to cry to your son , I understand you need a shoulder to lean on but that is putting TOO MUCH on your son. Find your help somewhere but not with your children . You are suppose to be their soft place (Dr Phil) to land. Just MY thoughts and opinion, edie

Welcome Vickie, I hope your journey is as smooth as mine was. 1. exercise at least 30 minutes a day (15 minutes away from your front door and then back) 2. Try your best to get your liquids in (I tried all of Walmarts brand of sf drinks) 3. Follow your doctors food guidelines edie

I was a good dieter. I was better at putting it back on since age 14. I was tired of being the fat woman . I just got fed up at being fed. I was willing to give up volumes of food. I admit it isn't as fun as it used to be going to the grocery store. On the other hand I love my back fat being gone. You have to decide if you want to been smaller or eat 4 pieces of chicken at once. edie

I let my trusted MD (love Al) decide what was right for me. He said at 5'3" and large frame he was comfortable with me weighing anywhere between 140 to 160. See why I love him? Remember this is for ME ONLY. edie

TTwo,

For me I focused on exercise. I guess it doesn't happen for everyone but I would spend about 2 hours a day walking . I walked my dog, myself and 2 friends separately who wanted to take off weight and did not or could not afford the lapband.

The exercise along with the band started the lbs coming off and of course that made me feel emotionally BETTER.

Even if I did some emotional eating ( few chips or extra fudge bar) , all that exercise helped me deal with the sort of "cheating".

I thought your thread was interesting but I think we are ALL emotional eaters or we wouldn't be obese.

I think most of us bandsters have had to come up with something to take the place of eating .

My house is cleaner and I am more social now too.

Good luck ,

edie

Butterfly, I love your new name. Divorce IS SO HARD. I was 22 when my parents split after 25 years. It is hard on whole family. I really feel bad for you. After 5 years my mom is grateful the divorce happened. The split put my Mother in hospital for 3 weeks over weight loss. Her doctor admitted her at 94lbs 5'4" and after 3 weeks let her get out at 98lbs. Then everything before, during and after is a soap opera. I am a only child and HAD to take a side. Of course I went with my Mother who has MS. So good for you on your new life and great going on your weight loss. Here's to a healthier outside and in time a healthier inside too. edie

Beachgirl, I honestly don't know how you are standing! 300 to 400 calories per day. I am shocked. I think you have your body in that starvation mode. Thinking of you, edie

Murples, How wonderful for you. My instructor at the gym said walk a little faster to get past a plateau. Do a little more weight if you do weights. It worked for me when I had a plateau of 3 weeks. Best wishes, edie
