How long did it take for you to reach goal?
edieparks replied to J2mommi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
J2, With lots of sf liquids, LOTS of exercise and following about 1000 - 1100 calories a day I lost 105 lbs in 8 months. I started with 30 minutes of walking or swimming slowly and built up to about 2 hours of walking a day. I now do about 2 miles a day. edie -
Yah Kim, The lobster (yumm) will be fine. The carbonation is what is bad about the soda. It is hard I had diet mountain dew withdrawl. Then when I put those size 18 jeans on my withdrawls disappeared with the lbs. good luck, edie

What I like most about exercising....
edieparks replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use the accountability idea by Dr Phil. I used "no TV until my exercise is done". Good luck , edie -
I was reading over my boylove post and it I became curious about bandsters and abortion. I am PRO abortion but I don't like abortion . I would never have (I don't think) an abortion. I feel like the person who has one, has to live with it FOREVER, so they should be able to decide for themselves. just my opinion edie

Carol, I got chills reading your post. I am so happy for you. I know you have reallly felt better for months now. I felt good about myself for at least 2 months before I reached my magic number. edie

is there a way for me to get banded?
edieparks replied to tommy1984's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have seen a super size person working at Subway too. Good luck, edie -
Tootall, This is how it was for ME. 17500.00 self pay. Louisville Ky 2 hours away. 2 days after surgery I had just slight discomfort when I would bend down for something. I waited 7 days after surgery to start walking 1/2 mile per day. edie

Stacy, LOL. Stop buying it. lol No really, can you try to buy and acquire a taste for lower calorie ice cream. I ate a lot of sf banana Popsicle from Krogers and a lot of low calorie fudge bars. Then eventually I would eat fruit bars. Also make yourself accountable as Dr Phil says. Just tonight I told my husband something I wanted to do 3 times a day. Nothing dirty. tee hee I told him if when he came home from work tomorrow I had not done it twice I could not watch ANY night time TV . I could not record it either. Believe me unless I go mad tomorrow I plan on keeping my end of the deal. I am scared but excited because I know this has worked for me in the past with exercise. Hope this helps, edie

Sincere question for super sizers
edieparks replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I always have felt I knew the difference. Just to name a few..... I knew I could walk anywhere I wanted too . "They" cant. There was usually a chair I could sit in. "They" don't go sometimes because there will not be a chair that will hold them. I usually could sit in a booth, maybe not comfortably but I could. "They" can't do a booth. My heart always hurts a little bit when I would see a super size person. I knew I was that person inside but just hadn't got there yet. I knew they were brave to get out even if if was on a scooter. I knew they probably got gawked and laughed at when they were at a grocery store. They probably even get comments made loud enough for them to hear. I never heard them because I would have marched my 276lb over to them and gave the offenders a piece of my 276lb mind. I'm the one who will help them reach for something they couldn't reach while I was in the same isle for them. I know food addiction is an ADDICTION. I will always be a foodaholic but my band gets me full. I think I am on a clear path now. My gym buddy who has lost about 25 lbs and I am proud for her even though she is still at 250 says I am one of them (skinnys) now not one of us (big women). I may look normal size to the world now but I say I am only a band away from being obese again. edie -
Experienced Bandsters please...
edieparks replied to tanderson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dear Jasgot and Tandern, Oh dear! Your question (s) are tough ones. I will attempt to answer the first one I came to in your post. " If I follow all the rules of banding and don't lose weight, is that possible?". No and yes. In my 8 months I lost 105 lbs. I also had 5 plateaus! One lasted almost a month. I was doing the same routine mostly. I was able to exercise longer as I became more able. I ate around the same amount of calories (1000-1100) and drank about the same amount of liquids (4 20 ounces). I was depressed when I would get on the scales and they hadn't budged. I have read everything about plateaus. Your body hanging on because you are losing.... it didn't make me feel any better. Nothing is an instant fix. I should not have jumped on the scales so much but just try to keep me off them. edie -
I bought a book before surgery. WLS (weight loss surgery) for dummies. It suggested not to treat every meal like my last. That made a lot of sense to me. I did eat at and all I wanted at my 3 fav restaurants before surgery. Little did I know that at 8 months post surgery I went back to each fav restaurant and ate. Band style but nevertheless . I thought they were gone for good for me. Nonsense. edie

19 year Old Operation done a week ago
edieparks replied to mavo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Chris, I am so happy for you to have a band at age 19. You are taking control of food and you are right about all the stuff you are saving yourself from. Bad knees for just one. I had to be so careful about walking . Now I can go 6 miles a day without hurting. Good luck, edie -
You are a little person now!!! edie

My town , Owensboro Ky, just had a one year anniversary of smoke free businesses that allowed anyone under 18 to enter. One year ago all the businesses complained that it would hurt business. They did a big article after one year and those same businesses had to admit it had helped business and most of those owners had quit and wanted to quit smoking. Big turn around. I love it . I never even wanted to sit close to the smoking section. edie

I would have been able to drive after 3 days. I waited and did what my dr suggested "5" days. I think it is really not a safety issue on your part but if someone hits you with a car even at a slow speed what it could do to your "new" surgery. edie

Hello Aver, I would eat a lot of sf banana popsicles. Be strong. edie
-
Celebration time!! Hope your journey goes as well as mine has. Good luck, edie

Just keep in mind how many calories. I suggest 1000-1100 per day. I would fill up at the end of evening with sf popsicles (around 30 calories) . I would not count these. Don't know why ... that is just the way I did it. edie

I had my first drink (2) at about 8 mos with no problem. edie
