SWEET reward Pat, edie -
This site does help. I live in a small town in KY and I don't know anybody who has a band. If I didn't have this site I would be going crazy waiting for my doctor to get back to me. Good luck, edie

SUSAN!!!! 40 lbs IS a lot. Try lifting a 40 lbs bag of dog food and carrying it to the car and into the house. I used to buy 2 40 lbs bags when I had 2 English Bulldogs. They are in doggie heaven now. I am glad you have restriction now. I'm sure you want to say what if ... Keep your chin up and your legs moving for at least 15 minutes a day. edie

PaulaD, This site helped me so much. If I had any questions I could get my answers here. It is like having a life line for banding. I hope you try to help your band with exercise and getting your liquids in. Follow your doctors guidelines for food. edie

I had this too. It eventually led me to counting my calories. I hated being back on a diet. Then the craving and what is in the fridge feelings left me. So maybe give yourself some time .... edie

Geez , Like you needed that headache with everything on your plate. You are making the right decision. I hope both of your journeys are as easy as mine was and is. edie

I have had enough in the news of the following groups. KKK , skin heads and I even cringe when I see a confederate flag. I also cringe when I see any anorexic starlet in the news. Bad influence on young girls. edie

edieparks replied to CanadaSunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have posted about this before but here goes.... I used the Dr Phil method. Accountability. He suggested if you do not do your exercise on Monday , you could not wear makeup on Tuesday. I used no TV until exercise is done. It worked for me. Tuff love.. Now get off your lazy a** edie -
Stages I have went had in my 8 mos as a lapbander
edieparks posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I consider this part of the good,bAD and ugly" of lapbanding. Bad and Ugly 1st stage I mourned for huge mexican plates with bunches of salsa and chips 2nd stage I mourned for chinese buffets 3rd stage I mourned for 4 chocolate longjohns with cream filling , forget about a few doughnut holes (just not the same thing) Next stage took a while but I am experiencing it now 4th stage I miss the buzz (endorphins) I would get from overeating. Good stage 1 After just 20 lb loss I felt healthier stage 2 At around 60 lbs loss I got into an 18 !! out of plus size!!!! stage 3 At around 80 lb loss I feel normal .To me "normal" means not being the biggest person at every friend or family get together. Also I don't sweat ALL the time now. The weather is getting warm and no sweating!!! stage 4 At goal I love not having all different size clothes in my closet. I love putting on anything and knowing it looks fine or even good now and I don't have to worry does this make me look fatter? I am SO interested in any feelings bandsters have on this good, bad and ugly thing. The band for me is half head and I have had lots of feelings this 8 months I am wondering what my future stages will be. I am hoping to Celebrate a year of sobriety from my food addiction in July of 08. Even being at goal now I feel like a newbie . Its like it could change because it has been too easy for me. I wish everyone could have a journey like mine. edie -
Stages I have went had in my 8 mos as a lapbander
edieparks replied to edieparks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wanted to add my new stage. MAY 07. I feel so happy. I'm not having any trouble with gaining weight. I feared that. I don't really have a relationship with food anymore. I like looking at it. It is pretty. lol. My stomach finally growled the other day. At first after banding I had a tiger in my tank all the time. I have to stop and eat now. I am spending more time outside because I don't get so hot . My dog likes this. edie -
Blair.com has cute clothes for large size people for low prices. Check them out. I think you would need to be at least 25 years old. Some of the young people might find cute capris, etc. edie

My exercise person I meet with once a month at my gym suggested I work harder NOT longer. She suggested 1 lap as quickly as I could then 2 normal laps. . I did this on my daily walking until I got past my longest plateau. 1 month . Yuk. I had 5 plateaus in my 8 month journey. edie

Just starting this jouney
edieparks replied to Ready2Change's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Cathi, I am proud for you. You have fought a big battle. You won. Now you are starting the next battle. I did have some depression. When the lbs starting dropping off , my weight became my comfort. It really did. I felt better about how I looked. How the world perceived me. I knew my food addiction was right out in the open . My tight size 26 jeans told the truth. Now I have been at goal for 3 months and I am still amazed at how I have changed. I am very busy and don't tire like I used to. Being busy with life not my next fix (food) . The excitement, thrill , and the future makes me smile. I can't find the words. I know one worry I had was what if I put it back on? Now 3 months I feel 99% confident that will not happen. I get full. I have to stop and eat. So to sum it up, the high I get from feeling and looking better took the place of my high from food. best wishes, edie -
This is such a SWEET accomplishment. You are helping with some positive posting. Thank you, edie
