I was sleeved on the 1st and I'm down about 30 lbs so far!

For me, and the things I'm allowed on a mushy diet, it WAS a huge difference. When is your first follow up? I'd wait until your doctor progresses you.

Band To Sleeve. Is It All It's Cracked Up To Be?
katyb replied to kate33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was banded in 2009 and revised to the sleeve this month. Keep in mind that yesterday was only my 3 week mark, and I am already a lower weight than I ever was after 2.5 years with the band! Other than real sugar, I haven't had a single thing so far that disagrees with me, even broccoli. With the band, most things would come back up. Except for sliders, of course. I spent a year throwing up half of everything I ate with the band. It was awful. So far with the sleeve, I'm completely happy. Even the recovery was easier. I was walking within 4 hours of the surgery, NO gas pain, nothing. I felt back to normal before I was even a week out. -
I can't wait to buy off the rack in the obnoxious cheap teenage stores.

What To Bring To The Hospital?
katyb replied to Nanny3Kids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only things I brought with me that got used were toiletries, loose clothes to go home in, magazines, phone and charger, and my own slippers. Everything else wasn't necessary. When my mother came to pick me up, she brought a firm pillow from my house to hold on my stomach over bumps, but I didn't need that with me IN the hospital. -
Do You Hate Protein Powder/liquids?
katyb replied to Back~To~Amy's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I absolutely despise 99% of the protein products. I can taste the artificial quality that they all have. I think I'm gonna buy some Premier ones since everyone raves about them! -
Frankly, I don't get the full 60. I'm doing GREAT if I can get 40 at this point.
-
Applesauce, melons, berries, bananas, basically things that are soft-ish and not fibrous. Of course, your doctor's rule may vary.

I'm a day shy of 3 weeks and I'm allowed to have watermelon, but I have to wait for pineapple.

Where was it done at?
-
It just takes time. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me, and I'm doing great if I get 40g of Protein a day. I'm trying, though.
-
I'd been at about 300 calories a day, and I'm having to eat 4-5 times a day or more to get 500+ calories. Once I started eating real foods, I started feeling better and less weak. My doctor told me it could be from lack of Protein or lack of calories.

When Does The Pain Stop Entirely?
katyb replied to mommyinneed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd call the doctor. My pain was very minimal, even when I was IN the hospital. -
Isopure and unjury unflavored.

They're allowing me to be on more of a mechanical soft diet, rather than purees and such. So far, I've had hummus, tuna salad, soft meatballs, flaky fish, thin-ish mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, and string cheese. They allow very well ground meats and things like that, rather than having to blend everything.

I'm only 19 days out, but I can take small gulps, about 3, then wait a few seconds before more gulps and I feel just fine.
-
I've heard a lot of people talk about being cold after surgery. Less insulation, maybe?
-
Even unflavored doesn't mean flavorless. I learned that the hard way!

For the time being, I'm eating frequently. I'm still not hungry, though, but I have to make myself. This morning, I was able to get about 1.75oz down in one sitting of tuna salad. I'm BEYOND sick of yogurts, puddings and the like, so I'm not touching those. I was also told that I can get all of my Protein from whole foods now, rather than from those vile Protein shakes. Now it's just a challenge to eat enough, calorie-wise.

Google mushy food diet. For me, it's just too many possibilities since I've been eating full liquids for so long! Right now (I think my diet is a little more lax than yours has to be, right now) I'm planning to eat things like tuna salad, cottage cheese, ricotta, watermelon and feta salad, avocado, mashed potatoes, turkey chili w/o Beans (they don't want me having bean skin unless its SUPER cooked right now), and hopefully eggs will agree with me. Everything else seems to so far.

I get that even from standing too long right now. Luckily, I've been told to bump up my consumption, so I'm making myself eat at set intervals. I walked my dog last night and felt like I was gonna pass out! I did feel MUCH better after eating the tuna, though.

There's a really really great grocery store near me that just makes it with albacore tuna, light mayo, and minced celery. I'm having such a hard time getting in enough calories, so I don't mind the mayo. Even eating until I was full, it was only 55 calories or so. I need to bump it up! I've been walking since about 4 hours after the surgery. I haven't done much for the past couple days since I was really weak and woozy from the low calories. I've been getting around 350 each day and they want me at 800-1200!

I'm way more excited than I should be!

I feel the same way! I'm 17 days out and I feel GREAT. -
How Often Do You Record Measurements?
katyb replied to Musharooni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, just whenever I think about it.
