    Zoloft and Lap Band

Hi, I have had the same problems. I was banded June of 09 but didn't have a problem with my Zoloft until 6 months ago. I have found the worst thing you can do it drink a lot of water with the pill. Never ever cut it in half. I talked to both of my drs about it. My Gastro said some medicine will do this. My regular dr graciously changed my prescription so that I have take 3 of the smallest dosage instead of 1 1/2 of the larger dose. This has really really helped. Feels like a fire has broken out in your chest, doesn't it? Seach this site and you will find others have experience the same difficulties! Arghhh!
  2. Hey Girl,

This is the first time I have been on here since last time I sent you a message (I think). I had lost 37 lbs but have gained 15 lbs. I have only have only had real restriction the time he loosened my band. I have been pretty down over the entire process. I haven't seen the doctor is almost 3 months because he is always soooo booked. I called today and gave them a piece of my mind. Of course then they moved my appt up three weeks.

I am soooo happy you are losing! How is the house?

So glad to see you had messaged me :)

I don't know you...but, I just fell in love with you! Thanks for inspiring us by sharing!
  4. There are ups and downs to this process! I understand now why bandsters say it's not the easy way out. Most people gas subsides in 3-7 days. Mine last for 7 (of course) I was banded 4 months ago...have had A LOT of problems. My biggest problem was with swelling. So much my stomach turned into a balloon that was ready for the Macy's Day Parade! The Dr. had to remove all of the saline. Saying all of that I have only lost 18 lbs so far but......I am so glad I got banded! I just had my 3rd fill and now I know it's working! You will do great. I could live off of bisquits before. I have had 1/2 of one since my surgery. I will probably never eat another one because those few bites were NOT fun! I did cry once because I missed food so much. You do get past that pretty quickly though. It is a head game sometimes, cause food is what we have always turned to! Good luck, we are all here to cheer you on!

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

I haven't posted in a long time but wanted to say...I think it may finally be working! I had a lot of problems after surgery (June 25) and the doctor had to take all the saline out of my band. I went Monday and had my 3rd fill. Now I can barely even drink anything. I have learned what sliming is! I am hoping by Friday I can have soft foods. If not I will call him and let him know it super tight. Sounds like some of you have had the same path...arghhhh. I also understand why people say this is definetely not the easy way out!!
  6. Hi,

I am recovered!! yayyy! It is a struggle though. I have lost 30 lbs. I am up and down. After the doctor released my band he refilled it 5 weeks later. I can hardly tell he filled it. I will get another fill in a month. I wish it was today!

So glad to hear you on are moving! That means things went okay at closing for you.

    Take care. Keep in touch..Donna

  7. Hi Felkatz, It will be fine. The doc had to release the saline from my band too. And had to do the berium test. Everything was fine except my stomach looked like a Macy's Day balloon. It was soooo filled with gas it was pushing on my lungs and making it hard for me to breathe. Stay on the same weekly diet they put you on. My was released 3 weeks ago and I was still on mushy's. I just progressed with the weekly plan the doc gave me. Just because the doc took the saline out you still only have a pouch. I jokingly asked the nurse if I could have Domino's and she ripped my head off. I got the full speach about prolapsing the band. So you will feel much better now. Everything taste funny because you don't have the acid in the small part of the pouch only in the larger part of your stomach, The way I got through the whole thing was with a Magic Bullet. I would take light Hawaiin punch, splash of light cranbery jiuce and some ice. Like a koolaid smoothie. I also did great with the sugar free fudsicles!!! Good-Luck..you'll get through it!!!

    June 2009 Surgery

Hi Nikki, Yes, I am finally doing great! The gas has totally subsided!! Thank goodness. I wasn't nuts about the gas strips but I did buy the chewable ones and really liked those! Glad to hear you are doing great too! We are all the same yet so different in the process. Darlene: I am soooo sorry to hear your band flipped. That would have me crazy too! Could you tell something was wrong? Best wishes on the redo. I bet it will be wayyy better than the entire surgery!!!

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

I was at the doctor the other day and saw "the day of fill" instructions laying on the counter. From what I read it said mushy's for one day and then back to your normal routine. Which if you had a fill I would think your normal routine should be shifted a bit...lol

    June 2009 Surgery

Hey Nikki, Oh I feel great now! I went to my surgeon and Monday and immediately deflated my band and sent me to the hospital for testing. I begged him not to relieve my band but he said "I know you don't want me to but, you don't understand this isn't right!" Anyway I went to the hospital and after an hour and a half of radiology testing the radiologist told me that my stomach was filled to the brim with gas..he said my stomach was so filled it was pressing on my lungs and that's why I couldn't breathe! I told him I could be in the Macy's Day Parade as one of the balloons! Thanks goodness things are looking up now...and the doc said he will give me more restriction in about a month. Honestly I still have plenty without the saline!

    June 2009 Surgery

Hey everyone, I had my surgery on June 25th....was doing great until I had carpal tunnel surgery on my wrist last Wed. I have already planned my funeral for this Thurs..I am pretty sure I will be gone by then..lol. I have just started mush foods. The only thing I have really had is cottage cheese. I have had it twice and both times I have eaten it I think I am dying 30 minutes later. Anybody else having trouble on the simple mushy stuff? I feel like every organ is in pain! I had a low grade fever until this morning. I really think that was caused from the wrist surgery. I see my gastric doc tomorrow. Thanks goodness!!

Hi, my name is Em and I'm a food addict....

Hi Em, You will one day look back and see what a great job you did. You are soooo right...when you say it is hard..it is hard but worth it. I only had to do liquids 3 days before my band and on the 3rd and final night..I was amazed I had done it. I just got my band 3 days ago and I am sooo glad I have it. It makes you change for the better. I did a lot of chicken boullion cubes and had my protein shakes 3 times a day. That really helps to kick they giant in the belly screaming to be fed! Hang in there..you will be sooooo glad you did. Best Wishes!!
