    Tomorrow is my day too!!!

My surgery is 8 DAYS away!! Having this surgery means so many mixed feeling. Focus on your END result. VISUALIZE yourself doing things that maybe you can't or are difficult for you before. Use positive words. You will get through this, you will be fine and everything is going to be GREAT!!!!
  2. Hi Mary, I had the band in July 09 and it was out October 09. I had a full slip and it was a nightmare. I am having the sleeve on January 3, 2011. My doctor did an upper GI and all appeared normal but he did say that if there was excessive scarring, they would switch from laprascopic to open procedure. I am hoping for the best. Good luck. Nina

    approved

Congratulation!!! I got a call from my doctors office today saying I was approved!!! My counselor says to keep imagining yourself things that you can't do now or things you want to see yourself wearing. it helps to stay positive.
  4. Congrats! I am having my surgery on January 3rd. I had the LapBand but it slipped and had to come out. I wish you all the luck and I'm sure you will have a great experience. I can't wait to be happy, healthy and feel good about myself.

    I'm SLEEVED!

Your post make me feel better. Just received my approval today for January 3rd. I had the band in 7/09 and it was out 10/09. I am hoping this will be a better experience for me.
  6. Got approved first time around!!! Surgery 1/3/11!

  7. I had my band for 3 days shy of 3 MONTHS! I had a food stuck episode followed by the fluid removed from the band. The next day, I suddenly felt stabbing pain and went to the ER. At that point, the pain was getting worse and worse. They did an upper GI and an Xray, which they said was NORMAL. Pain meds weren't working and I finally got a nurse who got me a consult with a new Bariatric doctor who then told me they read the Xray wrong and I not only had a complete slippage but the band was BELOW my stomach. I had it taken out, had 4 days of EXCRUSIATING pain and all time and energy lost. I am disgusted and disappointed. I am not considering another band, especially since I found on the LapBand website that in 3 year student 25% of people who got band, had to have it removed. The entire situation makes me sick...

Agnonizing stomach/back pain. Went to ER

GET your butt to the ER. I was banded 7/29 and I just got out of the hospital today. Had to have it removed. My band slipped and my stomach went through the band. I pain was an OUT OF BODY experience. I had surgery to remove it and I am disgusted about it but it was the only option. I found on the LapBand website that in a US study 25% of 288 people studied had to have band removed within 1st 3 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I would have found this earlier, I would have saved myself the now TEN HOLES IN MY STOMACH. Yes I lost 60 pounds and will do the rest on my own but I the pain I went through was no worth it. Good luck.

    Stalled Weight loss

My nutritionist told me to eat 1/4 cup of food (volume). Is that nuts or what??? and I have to eat 800 calories a day ?! I eat about 1/2 cup of food and feel full. Maybe you need a little fill??
  10. Hi Susan,

Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope you are well!

  11. Hit the big 40 today! 15 more pounds and I have 1/2 my excess weight off!

  12. You definitely need to have a small amount taken out. It's your body so don't be concerned about what the doctor thinks. You can't live the way you are living. You've worked too hard for this. Even if you have .5 cc taken out, that may be all you need. Also, you didn't say, but be sure to do liquids right before and after a fill. Good Luck and hope you feel better soon. :smile2:

    Outpatient vs. Inpatient

I had the choice and stayed overnight. I swear it ws the BEST thing I did for myself. The IV meds kept me hydrated and pain free. I swear it was like a mini vacation.....LOL. There is no way the liquid tylenol with codeine would have managed the first night. Nothing better than professional care....... Oh and I had a private room. That made the difference. I would have not stayed overnight stuck in a room with some stranger.
  14. 37 POUNDS DOWN!!!!! Goal is 50 by my birthday!!!

    Lost Too Much Weight

You tell that jerky doctor that almost ALL people gain the weight back and THEN some!!!!! Tell him you should not be penalized for following the rules and have him submit to the insurance company. If he won't find another doctor. They do go by your previous weight. I feel so bad that you worked so hard to hear that!!! Good Luck...
  16. Hey Sweetie, Things will get better for you. Once you are through the first 6 weeks and start getting your fills, you will be able to go out and eat just like everyone else. You just have to make good choices and eat less. You are young and have all of your 20's to look HOT in your new body and clothes. I am 38 and feel bad that I ROBBED myself of feeling good by being overweigh for the past 10+ years. Everyone has their own reasons, but I told everyone that I was getting surgery!!! At first, I thought I shouldn't have said things but everyone has been soooo supportive and have been my biggest sense of support. Maybe you won't feel so alone if you told a few close friends, so you have people to confide in. Today for the FIRST time in MANY years, I walked into Target and bought clothes from the regular section and it felt GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep telling yourself that the beginning part is temporary and you'll get through it!!!!!!!!

    When did it hit you?

I felt that I had my band after the second fill and REALLY felt I had my band after getting a piece of food stuck. It was painful and horrible. Although it made me be extra careful when chewing.
  18. I was allowed cottage cheese. Get "small curd" kind and chew it up. I had no problem with cottage cheese and it was a nice break from the sweet taste of the shakes.
  19. I had the same issue. Took a 2nd fill to feel restricted. I have 6 CC's in my band and feel pretty good. I am staying full longer. FYI--my doctor allowed me to get my second fill 2 weeks after the first fill.
  20. I showered the next day after surgery. I was allowed to go swimming 2 weeks after surgery, when my inscisions where closed...
  21. I like Designer's Whey Chocolate. It's pretty good, especially with fruit mixed in..

    stuck & it sucks!

Happened to me for the first time last night!!! I feel your pain. I had to put my finger down my throat twice. I feel like I was punching in the stomach today but I learned my lesson the hard way.....CHEW CHEW CHEW.

    why is it so easy?

I had the same perfect experience as you. I never had purping, vomiting, gas, NOTHING! I know I am very, very lucky. I did 1 week of liquids followed by mushys. I am 7 weeks post op, have had 2 fills, good restriction and I follow the rules but there have been no foods that I can't eat. As a rule, I do not eat bread. By the time I eat my protein, I am too full anyway. I don't know whether it's because of my doctor or what but I am NOT complaining. Hoping you continue to have a great experience too...
