    band v sleeve

Real results......After a 5 year study of a group of people (forgot how many) had the LapBand...OVER 35% HAD THE BAND REMOVED!!!!! I found this buried in the lap band website. I followed the directions to a "T" and my band was out in 3 months. Since you are paying cash, protect your investment with the sleeve!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I was sleeved on 1/3. All sips hurt but especially water for some reason. One day I just woke up and it didn't hurt anymore. I went to the doctor on Wednesday (10 days Post op) and he added yogurt, eggs and protein shakes. I start full liquids on day 14 post op. I can tell you this.....I tried eating an egg every day and it does NOT feel too good. I keep trying it again each day. I have been very lucky...no naseau or vomiting.. Good luck and email me if you need any questions.

    Waking Up Startled

YES!! I did too. Three day's post op. I was so so confused, I started to panic. I think it's from the pain mediciation. I am now 12 days out, and other than some soreness where the drain was placed...I feel great.
  7. If your doctor uses a drain. Be sure to have extra gauze pads and tape to change dressing. Be sure to have a variety of clear liquids (broth). I thought the unflavored unjury was helpful. I bought protein shots called "Proasis" they are the BEST. 25g of protein in 2.9oz. I poured a little in my tea with each sip. I also drank out of shot glasses to remind me to sip.
  8. It's not soda ...it's the very occasional beer I will miss!

    Full Liquids post op?

My doctor had me on 10 days clear following surgery. He said your mostly likely to have a leak in the first 72 hours. After 10 days, that reduces to less than 1 percent. After 2 weeks ...0 percent. I appreciate that my doctor is very cautious with his approach. He has a very high success rate with this patients. I am now on day 11 and feel great. He has added Protein shakes, eggs, and yogurt until day 14. After day 14, I can start puree for a week, then mushies, then intro one food at a time. I would rather sacrifice now then have a problem....
  10. My doctor told me that after 10 days you have less than a 1 percent chance for a leak and after 2 weeks 0 percent chance. With that being said, I have been on clears for 10 says and after day 10 can have eggs, yogurt and shakes until 2 week mark. It's VERY important not to rush your stomach and healing.

I bought SoBe water. It's awesome! No splenda or nutrasweet. I am 7 days post of and can not drink water. It hurts my stomach.

    Anyone using Mirena IUD?

I've had the Mirena for about 2 years. Never noticed any weigh gain/loss issues and other than spotting the first few months, have had no problems with it. I also didn't have an UTI's or anything like that. I absolutely love it. My periods are mostly just spotting every month.
  13. Well!! I made it and am almost 1 week post-op. I walked like crazy in the hosptial and it really helped. The only issue I had was that they gave me a breathing treatment in the hospital and it make me want to jump out of my skin. I had a few panic moments but I am feeling very good. I get my drain out Wednesday and can start full liquids so the countdown in on!

    Got Poop?

I am one week post op. When should I expect to have my first bowel movement? It's been a week but since I am drinking clear fluids....will it happen???
  15. Well, after a year and 3 months after I had my band removed due to a full (and painful) slip I am having my gastric sleeve. Although I have an excellent surgical team, I am nervous (once bitten, twice shy).... If any of you could give me some word of encouragment and a send some prayers my way, it would be so much appreciated. I found each of every person on this site to be so kind and compassionate!! Wish me luck! Nina

    When can I start exercising

I was told after 2 weeks, I can start on the treadmill and after 4 week, I can start doing more strenuous exercise like spinning, which I love to do!!! Good Luck.
  17. Please get to the nearest hospital that has a BARIATRIC doctor. You could have a full slip. Be safe and take care of yourself.
  18. I am disgusted at the LapBand. I had mine in for a mere 3 months. I had a full slip and endured 3 days of horrendous pain before they realized the band slipped. I couldn't even swallow my own saliva. It was a year in October that I had the band removed and I am scheduled to have the sleeve surgery in 3 DAYS!!! I've been on an emotional rollercoaster because I actually experienced a "side effect" with the band but I know that I am in great hands and this is going to work out great. I want to be healthy and feel good about myself!
  19. Thank you so much for your detailed review. I am having my surgery in 7 days and I am so nervous. Your experience makes me feel relaxed and gives me hope. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Can you please explain what this is?????? Also, why does it matter.
  21. Good Luck with your surgery. 2011 will be our year!!!

  22. 8 days away from my surgery!!!

    January 2011 Sleevers

I am a January Sleever as well! January 3rd is my date. It's been a long journey for me....On July 29, 2009, I had the lap band, then on October 26, 2009...(yes less than 3 months later), I had emergency surgery to have the band removed. That experience totally traumatized me but the good thing about it was that I joined a therapy group which helped me on my journey to self acceptance. I am very nervous about having a 3rd procedure but I know that I will do great and I am trying to focus on the end result. Please say some prayers for me if you don't mind.
