best way to break a stall?
NJMOMof2 replied to AMLP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 10 day stall earlier this month and I went food shopping and bought all different kinds of food. The scale started to move again. I also had fallen off the journaling wagon, and I can tell you that as soon as I started journaling, the scale began to move again!!! -
On way 2 SKINNEYVILLE Yall!
NJMOMof2 replied to Weightbgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am super impressed with you!! I couldn't even look at a computer to type words...I was soo loopy. It will get better every single day!! I had BIG regrets after surgery. I hated not feeling like myself. Now I am almost 11 weeks out and I LOVE my sleeve. I am never hungry and I have confidence that I never had before. I am learning how to eat out and I am not feeling "deprived" anymore. Keep up the great work! -
IT WILL WORK!!! Life is sooo much easier with the sleeve. than with the evil band!! The recovery was more involved but it is soo worth it. Its a much more normal way of living. I got my sleeve Jan 3rd and it's get better every day!!!

After a 10 day stall the scale is moving again. I am down 49 pounds!! I was scared to death to get the sleeve....so glad I didn't chicken out.

YOU can do it. I am down almost 50 pounds and I can't tell you how great I feel. I did this for my husband and my two small children. I want to live a long and healthy life with my family. Nerves are very common. You will get through this and feel great!

The thirty thirty rule- chew chew chew
NJMOMof2 replied to meggiep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't count my chews, it makes eating such a chore. I just make sure I take small bites and chew thoroughly. I may take a small sip within the 30 minutes before eating but never during or the 30 minutes after eating. I am just 10 weeks out too. -
I was sleeved a little over 10 weeks ago and in the past 2 weeks, my hunger has gone away. After surgery I felt hungry like before and I wasn't happy about it. I guess since the stomach is healing, the hunger is gone. I literally have to eat just to eat. I love not being hungry all the time like I was before. I don't take any PPI's either. Don't need them.

Hello! I teach 4th grade and I was sleeved January 3rd. I took 4 weeks off. I wanted to be transitioning to solid food when i went back. The first few days were a little tough but then I got into a routine. I bring my breakfast to work and eat it during homeroom in the morning. I have lunch at 12:45 so I know not to drink after 12:15. I am lucky in the sense that my lunch it 44 minutes. I really had to work to slow myself down because I am used to eating so fast because lunch in short. Until you get yourself in a routine, you can start nibbling on your lunch before you head down there... I also stay out of the teacher's lounge. We have "fat fridays" where each grade brings in a breakfast dish so I just stay in my classroom. People at work do know I had surgery and for the most part, have been very supportive. There is one lady who is like the food police but I find she is overall an annoying person anyways

My doctor said "congratulations you are now just obese like 20 million other American's" LOL

I found once I got off those pain meds, my mood improved. I think the surgery definitely throws you for a loop. I was very anxious and depressed the few weeks. I couldn't believe what I did to myself!! Now I am feeling AWESOME!! You will get there....I promise it will get better!!!

Am I lucky told I didn't need a PRE-OPT diets
NJMOMof2 replied to Guitrman's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I didn't have to either. I had to do liquids 2 days before surgery. -
I was 245 5' 4" and I'm a teacher. I took off 4 weeks. There is no way I could have gone back before 3 weeks, I couldn't do the morning routine with my children who are 5 and 8. Everyone heals different, though. I give major KUDOS to people who said they took a week off!!!!!

Hi Everyone! I am having my sleeve surgery on Januray 3rd and my nutritionist told me that for the first 10 days after surgery to drink one Isopure Protein drink a day. She also said that the taste isn't too pleasant, but I will put on my big girl pants (no pun intended) and tough it out.... My question is....What flavor is the least gross??? Do you have any other suggestions for a clear Protein Drink??

Unrealistic Expectations
NJMOMof2 replied to ILKrista's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Some lady I work with comments about my weight every time she walks by me. although it's all positive, I don't like it at all. I explained to her that although I appreciate her kind words, I am trying to overcome a food addiction. I then asked her if she would mind only commenting once a month! LOL. She was fine with it and this was hard to say but it HAD to be said! I do feel like Im in a fish bowl, especially when I am eating but everyone kind of figured out I had WLS. I was out for 4 weeks and came back 30 pounds thinner -
When did you add COFFEE back to your diet?
NJMOMof2 replied to SinDLou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said coffee 4 weeks out. I had it about 5 weeks out but switched to decaf... I figured I don't need the caffeine so why go back??? -
Cold feet or legitimate feelings?
NJMOMof2 replied to apw0's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just list all the "what if's" with the risks of your current weight... As for the drain, it's a pain in the butt but there for a good reason. Yes, the surgery is invasive! You are throwing your stomach in the trash but the health effects (both physically and mentally) outweigh the risks. You can and will get through it and will feel GREAT!! I was a MESS before surgery. They had to give me medicine to calm me down the morning of surgery. I was hysterical. Now I am almost 11 weeks out, almost 50 pounds down and laugh about it!!! -
Protein shakes are making me nauseous
NJMOMof2 replied to Sara Ann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go on this website www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com The girl who runs the site had gastric bypass many years ago and literally logs and takes pictures of all her food. She also has a facebook page as well. I heard people saying the Max protein she gets from GNC is the best. Good Luck...although it seems like it...it DOESN"t last forever. -
B--Protein shake S-Lowfat yogurt L-3 thin slices of turkey rolled with 1 slice of LF cheese 1/4 cup edamane S-5 slices of cucumber D-2 oz of chicken breast with a little spinach and pepper on top couple bites of broccoli. S- sugar free fudge pop FYI--THE BODY CAN'T ABSORB MORE THAN 30 GRAMS OF Protein AT ONCE. IT DOES NOT STORE PROTEIN LIKE IT DOES CARBS AND FAT. If you have a 60 gram shake, you are wasting your $$ and not getting in protein!!!!!
-
Go on only protein shakes for as long as you can to clear your system out. You need to get the cravings out of your system. Then start journaling all your food intake. lastly THROW OUT ANY JUNK YOU HAVE IN YOUR HOUSE! Food additiction is so tough. You deserve to look and feel good. Don't sacrifice what you want at the moment for your long term goals!!~! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

The story of an impatient chick in Kansas City
NJMOMof2 replied to Holiday's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Keep following up with the insurance company regarding the 6 month waiting period. When I was looking to revise from the evil lap band to the sleeve, they had a 6 month diet and I found out they were getting rid of that requirement so I started the process after that. My first apt with the doctor was the last week of November 2010 and I was sleeved January 3, 2011!!!! GOOD LUCK -
You will feel better, just keep drinking fluids. I can't tell you how much that has helped me, even with hunger. As for the hunger, I am 10 weeks out tomorrow and about 2 weeks ago, it went away. I also find that chewing gum helps with head hunger a lot! (Although some people on here say their doctor says not to chew gum). Working around food must be difficult. Be sure to have the proper amount of snacks/meals with you. I applaud you for going back to work so soon. I wasn't emotionally ready to go back until I was eating regular food. I stayed out 4 weeks. It will get better, I promise

How do you feel 4 weeks out?
NJMOMof2 replied to DazyKrazie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt absolutely PERFECT after 4 weeks. So good that I took the kids sledding and I went down the hill a few times. Haven't done THAT since I was a kid!!! -
I'm having second thoughts...
NJMOMof2 replied to Pinkbabe2011's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
AWWW! You are perfectly okay to have a melt down! This is a SUPPORT group site! Thats why we are all here for eachother. It has NOTHING to do with not "doing research!" I researched like crazy and I was NOT prepared for the utter regret that I felt after surgery. I felt the same with the sip sip sip crap too! LOL As a matter of fact, as I was chugging my Water today I thought of sipping and laughed. Before you know it you will feel great and back to normal. Your feelings are temporary and it will get better!! TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!!
