I occasional get an emptly feeling but never hunger pains like before. I am lovin this sleeve and the confidence it gives me.

    VSG Regrets?

MY only regret was having the lap band first. If I would have waited I could have had ONE surgery, (instead of 3). I am very happy with my choice. I don't feel different from others. I can eat socially and I LOVE not beging hungry all the time.

    F'd by lapband BIGTIME!

I had the evil lap band for a mere 3 months (blessing in disguise). After a full slip and horrid pain, I had emergency removal. I had lost 50 pounds with the pre-op and post-op diet but after the band was removed, I gained about 45 pounds back. I had the sleeve done a year and three months later and I can tell you this is a more NORMAL way of life and I have no food intolerances, no vomiting, no horrible pain. I was lucky have very minimal scarring (probably because it was in for such a short time). That lap band should be banned. I am so sorry for what you have been though. My sister-in-law had RNY 1 1/2 years ago is is doing GREAT with it. She has lost 160 pounds, and looks amazing. Whatever the outcome is, I hope it's one that brings you happiness.

    Hospitalized

I was thinking about you and wondering how things went today. I can't stop thinking about what you are going through. ((HUGS))

    Been Plicated

The doctor did a favor (in my opinion)...I had the LapBand and it was hell. Here I am (3 surgeries later) with the sleeve and I am very happy with it. I hope the plication works well for you. Good Luck and Congrats!

    Hospitalized

I am heartbroken for you....You should not have to feel this way. Be sure to ask the surgeon WHY you have an "L" shaped pouch? Did he use a bougie to guide him when he dissected the stomach??? If you are not comfortable with your care, ask for a new doctor. I pray for you and hope this all works out and you are back to your self and with your family (((HUGS)))
  11. I am 3 1/2 months out and drink normally. I even gulp Water when I am spinning. I have a problem with depression and has troubles after surgery. I think the anestesia and pain meds do a number on people's mood. The burping and gas goes away, literally from one day to the next. That really bothered me, then suddently it stopped. (Maybe about 6 weeks out) Now for the hardest question.... YES..you will enjoy food but in a different way. Last night I went to a 7 course dinner and I got to taste what I wanted (skipped on the Pasta round). I didn't eat huge portions, just tasted every course and had a larger portion of the fish but I was satisfied and had fun with my friends. So YES, it's an adjustment but you need to keep focused on the goal and remember that eating socially is more about the social experience than the eating. I had a tough time with this in the beginning but now I am fine ( and you will be too!). I be sure to order food that re-heats well so I can enjoy the food 1 or 2 more times!!!
  12. I take a large chip, break it into pieces and have a scoop of salsa. I always take "bite" of app if it's on the table so I can taste it and feel part of the group.
  13. I survived a 7 course meal and weight LESS this morning.....I went out with my husband and some friend and we had the chef's table at this restaurant. The chef prepares several dishes and brings them out family style. You don't know whats coming. I am so proud of myself. I tasted what I wanted and had the fish as my main meal. I skipped the pasta and even had a little of the dessert. Best of all, I didn't feel different or left out. This is a major milestone for me, as I ha...

  14. Goal one was to weigh in the 100's---DONE Goal two has to weigh less than my husband--DONE! HORRAY Next goal to weigh in the 170's!

  15. I'm 3 1/2 monts out and I am down 58 pounds. I didn't lost any weigh pre op. Doctor didn't make me and insurance didn't require it. I can not eat more than 1/2 cup of food at a time. I always have a shake for breakfast Snack: I will have a piece of cheese or a yogurt (if I am hungry) Lunch: usually a lunch meat roll up or some egg salad/ and a couple slices of cucumbers Dinner: Have whatever I cook for the family Snack: a sugar free fudge pop EVERY night! LOL. It's my favorite snack. I had only one stall and it lasted for 10 days. I switched to a Protein shake in the AM and started losing. I also exercise a lot. I spin and work out with a trainer. The lower I get the more I need to exercise to lose weight. Good Luck and hope this helps.

    Constant burping

Don't worry...it will do away!! Happened to me...I was burping and passing gas. I couldn't imagine this lasting forever but then one day, it stopped.. Maybe around 8 weeks post op???

    Leak Test Post-Surgery

My doctor did a leak test during and the day after surgery. He also specifically told me that you have a chance of a leak up to day 14 and after that time, the chance of a leak is "zero percent." I also had a drain the first 10 days after surgery. I would get a second opinion because you are getting such conflicting information.
  18. Insurance Companies deny the first time around in many instances. My friend who had the sleeve and had a BMI in the 40"s was denied 3 times before approved. I had exactly a 40 BMI and was approved first time. So keep fighting..

    I feel like a looser

YOU HAVE LOST 25% OF YOUR EXCESS WEIGHT IN 5 WEEKS!!!!!!! What an amazing accomplishment!! Remember, you went through this surgery to take care of yourself and improve your health. From now on, speak only kind and loving words to and about yourself!!!

    I messed up :(

Forgive yourself and move on!! Be sure to follow your doctors plan and always have some type of food or snack with you. It really helps. Funny thing is I have never carried so much food around in my life!! I have my little purple lunch box with 2 ice packs Remember ...it's about the journey and one tiny slip up isn't going to keep you from reaching your goal!

    When can I have SALAD??

I was allowed as soon as I went onto normal foods (about 4 weeks). Since I can only eat 1/2 cup max of food I usually just take a couple fork fulls after my protein.
  22. Ice packs were a LIFESAVER!!!! I had two on my stomach in the hospital and kept them on when I got home. It made such a difference!!!
  23. My doctor had me scheduled to stay 2 nights but I asked to leave the next day, as long and I passed the leak test and could pass urine after the catheter was removed. I couldn't stand being away from my kids and my husband feeling like he was in a tug of war between home and the hospital. Talk to your doctor AHEAD of time so they can plan your tests and have your scripts ready to go home with. Good Luck
  24. Hi Everyone, I'm 19 days post op and feeling great. No pain, no reflux, no gas problems. I am not a big coffee drinker, but especially on the weekends, I like to sip coffee and read the newspaper. When did you start to drink coffee??? I do have decaf in the house but I'm afraid of drinking it. Thanks, Nina
  25. I chew gum immediately after eating and it really helps with thirst. I find that I am not thirsty when eating, I just want a drink after I'm done. The gum is a life saver but I am used to it and you will be too. I do occasionally sip.
